“The wind bloweth where it listeth [wills], and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8). You cannot see the wind, but you can see the branches of giant trees bend. You know the wind is real and powerful. Likewise, you cannot see the Holy Spirit. But He is a real Person, and His mighty power can save you from sin. He makes the harlot pure, the liar honest, the drunkard sober, and the blasphemer prayerful.

You must be born again! Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Verily, verily, I say

unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Physical life begins by birth. Spiritual life begins the same way. You are a selfish sinner, rebellious to God’s law. The first law of God is to love God first. “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30). The second law is to love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31). God’s law called “The Golden Rule” states that “all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12).But you have broken all of these basic laws. Why? Because you love yourself supremely! Selfishness is the root of all of your problems!

The new birth involves a complete change of attitude and purpose or direction of living. “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15).You must repent of all sins, renounce self, and make Jesus Christ to be the Lord and King of your life. This is the human aspect of the new birth. With God’s help, it is turning your back on sin—the pleasures of the world, the enticing lures of Satan, and selfish desires of the flesh. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:31).

Trust Christ now!

If you will admit you are a sinner, ask God to forgive your sins, and trust Christ alone for your salvation, the Holy Spirit will enter your life. Instantaneously you will become a new person. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The essence of the Gospel is that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1Corinthians 15:3b‑4). He has all authority in Heaven and earth. He sent the Holy Spirit. The moment you trust Christ, the Holy Spirit will fill your life and you will become a child of God. Don’t delay! Trust Christ now! Not only will you be
