“Born Again”

We must be “born again” and continue

to follow Jesus Christ in order to

receive everlasting life.

a. Believing in Jesus Christ (John 3:16, 18).

b. Experiencing “a mighty change in … our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually” (Mosiah 5:2; see also Alma 5:12–14, 26).

c. Being “changed from [a] carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness” (Mosiah 27:25).

d. Becoming “[God’s] sons and daughters” (Mosiah 5:7; 27:25).

e. Becoming “new creatures” (Mosiah 27:26).

f. Having “the image of God engraven upon [our] countenances” (Alma 5:19; also verse Alma 5:14).

g. Repenting so our “garments [are] purified until they are cleansed from all stain, through the blood of [Christ]” (Alma 5:21; see also Alma 5:19, 33–34; 22:18).

being born again “doesn’t happen in an

instant. [It] is a process”

READ John 3:14–18 about the Savior’s mission and His commandment that we be born again:

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus used the

light and shun darkness.

(John 3:19–21).

John the Baptist

declared:

“I am not the Christ,

but … I am sent

before Him”

Jesus’ Manner of Teaching the Samaritan woman:

taught at her level of understanding,

testified of himself,

used the symbol of water powerfully,

showed compassion.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He could give her “living water.”

“The fields … are white already to harvest” (John

4:35)

“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on Him for the saying of the woman, which testified, ‘He told me all that ever I did’…And many more believed because of His own word; …for we have heard Him

ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the World.” (See John 4:39–42.)
