Aims...Where Cultures meet... The Cairo International Book Fair is the largest yearly cultural event in MiddleEast. Its aim are:

• To Facilitate and promote exchange between authors, publishers, allthose professionally concerned with books and responsible for readingand culture in all countries.

• To organize a friendly International competitive event between all thosewho take part in the production of books, writers, publishers, papermanufacturers, printers, engravers, illuminators, binders, booksellers,librarians. Bibliophiles and in general, all those who collaborate in bookproduction and distribution.

• To provide a forum for those interested in the children’s literature inEgypt.

• To establish a market for antiquarian booksellers.

• To promote all-round cultural cooperation among nations and popular-ize the nest publications which further peace.

Exhibitors..Invited to take part in the fair are: publishers, distributors, authorized repre-sentatives, importers, exporters, and retail booksellers.

They may exhibit books of their own production or books which they distribut-ed, imported or exported, and books involved in their own bookselling activi-ties, paper and graphic manufactures and related activities.

• Manufacturers and importers of machines and graphic accessories:They may exhibit all items connected with the activity by which wereadmitted to the fair.

• Writers and authors, associtations, theatre and other artistic activities,professional chambers, graphic designers and artists:

They may exhibit their documentation and books connected with their activi-ties and those of their associates.

• Foreign embassies, chambers and compenies:

They may exhibit books as well as any printed matter related to their culturalactivities.

• National, state and city organizations, public, private, national or city librar-ies.

They may display their organization and activities and may also carry out

promotional work. In the case of libraries, they are allowed to enrol newmembers.

Antique dealers:

They may exhibit books and materials belonging to their collections. Eligibleto exhibit also are newspapers and journals with permanent literary sup-plement, products of teaching aids (incorporated with permanent books orwriting materials) literary records, slides, cassettes, of recorded in so far as

they form part of, or complement, a certain book.

Teaching Aid and Publications

Application to Exhibit• The application form must be completed in duplicate. One copy is tobe sent to the director of book fairs

• To corniche el Nile Boulac, Cairo, Egypt, before 15 Nov. 2014, and theother copy is to be retained by the exhibitors. Exhibitors are remindedthat the exhibition space will be allocated in order of registrations, asthe available.

• The fair’s management reserves the right to refuse any application orto accept it only under certain conditions, all this its exclusive discretionand no reasons may necessarily be given.

• In case of the cancellation before December 1st 2014

• The exhibitor will be charged 30% to the sum due for the area reservedby him. If cancellation is made before 20 December 2014, the exhibitorwill be charged 50% to the sum due for the area reserved by him. Afterthis date, the exhibitor is liable to settle his account in full.

Exhibitor’s Entry Card• Entry to the fair is permitted only to persons having special entry cardsissued by the management.

PaymentWhen the management receives the application form, the proforma invoicewith costs of the stand will be airmailed.

The exhibitor is obliged to effect the payment of the value of The proformainvoice in favour of the central bank of egypt, 54 Elgamohria St., cairo, Egypt.within 15 days upon the receipt of the invoice, and to show proof of the pay-ment when taking over the stand.

Special Exhibition ServiceFor publishers who do not wish to rent a stand and send a representative,but would like to have their books displayed and promoted during the cai-ro 46 th international book fair 2015, the following services are offered byGEBO:

• Display of books in the main exhibition hall on individual stand bearingthe name of the publisher.

• Promotion service by GEBO representatives.

• Transmission of orders made during the fair to the publisher con-cerned, through GEBO import department. These services are renderedon the following conditions:

• Payment in advance of ve us dollars per book (minimum 50books).

• Books exhibited remain the property of GEBO.

• GEBO import department is to be granted the usual commercial dis-

count for order made.• Books should be addressed to GEBO, preferably by air freight, andclearly marked “special exhibition service, Cairo International BookFair’.

• Copy of shipping documents to be registered airmail toGEBO.

• Payment to be sent with application.

Transport and Customs• In order to complete ef ciently the necessary procedures and deliverthe exhibits to the stands, the following instructions should be followed:All the shipping documents (railway bill, shipping note, airway-bill mail)should be addressed to the fair’s management as follows:

Cairo International Book Fair General Egyp-tian Book Organization Corniche El-Nile,Boulac, Cairo, Egypt

Marked “Cairo International Book Fair” and the freight to Egypt should be pre-paid. If the exhibitors send their exhibits through a forwarding agent, the agentshould be given instruction to that end.

• For the purpose of egyptian customs clearing, it is necessary to fur-nish the organizer with:

• Five copies of each invoice.

• Packing list (5 copies).

• Insurance policy.

• The management will transport the parcels to the fair-ground.

• The exhibitor will be charged with the expenses which should be

• paid in cash or by payable cheque.

• The exhibitor will pay L.E. 20 Per parcel (maximum 30 kg).

• If the exhibitors wish to send their exhibits through a forwarding• Agent, They will be charged with the administrative expenses (2% ofthe total value of the invoice) to issue him a letter of participation to sub-mit it to the egyptian customs clearance.

• Payment for stands in us $ for foreigner or in accordance with bankrate (in case of equivalent).

Terms and Conditions of ParticipationThe exhibitor must provide the organizer with: two copies of passports of the del-

egation members, one photo to issue an exhibitor card and date of arrival anddeparture.

1. The organizer reserves the right to postpone the fair to alter the du-ration or hours of opening or closing or to exclude the public early orcancel it altogether if there are important reasons for doing so. Any ofthese alterations will have no effect on the validity of contracts with ex-hibitors and on the organizer’s claim for full payment of the stand rent-al.

2. The conclusion of the contracts does not entitle the exhibitor to a speci cposition.

3. The organizer is entitled to decrease the stand and rental will be de-creased accordingly.

4. Any decorations or promotion material must be xed to the stand wallsin such a way that the stand’s material is not damaged or dis gured (e.g.permanent adhesive tape).

5. Flashing light signals of any kind must not be used on stand. Stickersmay not be offered or distributed from stands or any where else in thehalls.

6. Audio-visual equipment may only be used if it does not disturb theneighbouring stands in any way. Advertising of any kind is permitted onthe fairground only through the fair’s management.

Non-compliance with Terms and ConditionsThe organizer may exclude an exhibitor from the fair if he does not complywith the terms and conditions and persists in doing so after admonition orrepeats breaches of the contract which have already been admonished atprevious fairs. In particularly serious cases, this exhibitor may also be ex-cluded from future fairs, also applied if the exhibits banned by court of lawhave been shown or if the exhibitor or his employees have committed orencouraged punishable offence (e.g. Theft or deliberate copyright infringe-ments).
