Doing things better – that has been our guiding thought fromthe start, and spans our entire company history. In the first tenyears after the initial founding of the company in 1975, it referred to the shoring up our young, fledgling company, whichat that time was operating as a sales agency.

The next ten years are marked by the development of our ownrotary lobe pump and the further expansion of the company, which at that stage still only operated on a national level. Ourambitious goal during this phase was to construct a compact, stable rotary lobe pump with a long operating lifetime and theability to replace wearing parts quickly. This early goal not onlyrepresents the initial trigger for the six complete ranges thatwe have today in our extensive rotary lobe pump programme, but also the hour of conception for the MIP Principle: Maintenance in Place – the simple and quick replacement ofwearing parts in-situ by operating personnel. Today, all ofBörger's products conform to the MIP Principle.

The years since 1995 brought continuous development of theproduct programme and with that our international break-through. Today Börger enjoys a worldwide presence. This isthanks to a structured growth process, which does not dependon mass produced products but rather on individual products forspecific areas of use and the associated operating conditions.

In order to supply products which meet the requirements ofthe different areas of use, we have developed a large and extensive product range.

The level of continuity and consistency in our product developmentdemonstrates a considerable continuity of economic growth aswell as a well-maintained level of motivation of our employeesdue to secured, long-term work places. This mature stabilityand our long-term perspectives derived from it are very important to us. That's why we also place a great deal of emphasis on long-term and close cooperation with our suppliers. This idea of close cooperation is especially important. This is because it represents the shortest path from the initialplanning to checking the actual feasibility of a project. We treatour suppliers as partners in just the same manner as we liketo be treated by our customers.

Our most successful product developments are the result ofdirect discussions with our customers and understanding precisely what their requirements are. We do not view yourproblems as obstacles, but rather as challenges.

Cogitative, Proactive Thinking:

Our practised company philosophy

What makes a product a good product? Of course, the quality of its construction, its reliability and the service one

receives as customer. Börger adds another important aspect of quality to this list: the quality of the idea behind the

product. That's why people say: at Börger, they think in pumps.

The rotary lobe pump, for example, was developed in its day asa single product range. The ever increasing areas of use, however, led to the creation of the six ranges in use today witha total of 17 rotary lobe pump sizes. The many areas of customisation concerning materials, rotor geometry and sealelements have led to further diversification of the possibleareas of use according to modular design principles. The design and production or construction of a pump is carried outaccording to the requirements of its area of intended use.

Thanks to close dialogue with our customers, we can developnot only this range of diversity concerning the product rangesas mentioned above, but also the diverse modifications, whichallow our rotary lobe pumps to be used, for example, as mobileaggregates or immersion pumps.

On top of this, this innovation-oriented dialogue has also led toindependent product development. Our maceration technology, for instance, has long since conquered the market with productssuch as our powerful Multicrusher or the Multichopper. Products such as the universal auger feed screw, PowerfeedSSE and Bioselect also fit into this category of development.Just as with our rotary lobe pumps, these products are alsobuilt according to the MIP Principle.

Today, Börger develops solutions for, amongst others, the oiland chemical industries, the agricultural and energy industries, for nautical applications, for water processing andpurification plants, for certain areas of the food industry aswell as for a number of highly-specialised applications. Thishuge market diversity places a great many different demandson our rotary lobe pumps and maceration equipment.

Real Patent!

Only cooperation and dialogue,

Lead to good results

Our philosophy of dialogue concerning specific areas of use has, over the years, led to an impressive, technological spectrum.

The characteristics of the pumping medium define the requirements: the pump size, the rotor geometry, type ofshaft seal and the materials used for all parts depend on alarge number of factors. The viscosity, abrasiveness, temperature, solids content, pH value and volume of thepumping medium form only some of these parameters.

Different factors also need to be taken into account withinthe area of conveyance and maceration equipment. However,Börger's rotary lobe pumps installed in the entire systemalways work together perfectly.

The most important step in design, is the surveying of theintended pump environment by Börger. This often leads tothe creation of new construction forms or new material decisions – many of the innovations to have come fromBörger came about due to customers placing specific demands on our R & D department. To be absolutely sure,Börger often provides its customers with a test pump.

Every single detail is important

The more individual a rotary lobe pump design is, the more successfully it will operate in its intended area of use. In this respect success depends on a number of factors. Aside from pumping ability, aspects such as quietness, long operational lifetimes and running costs are of particular importance.

Quite unconventional sometimes

Many family-run businesses are based on hierarchical structures. Not so with Börger. Our level organisational structure means faster channels of communication. Initiativeand an independent working-style are both desired and promoted throughout all areas of the company. We also do ourbest to keep development paths as short as possible – some- times, in order to answer feasibility questions, a prototype willbe built before plans are even drawn up. So that we can properly promote the creative process of development, theemployees of our suppliers are included in the process as wellas our own employees. In this way, we can solve problems inthe shortest possible time.

Training – investment in the future

In the end, a continual story of success concerning company'shistory always comes down to the people involved. That's whywe are always pleased to provide training, going to greatlengths to seek out good trainees so that we can eventuallyoffer them permanent places within the company. On top ofthis, we want to make sure that what makes Börger such aninternational success, our intelligent engagement, will still beavailable in the future. This idea of continuity concerning employees is a very significant growth factor. However, suchgrowth also requires the readiness to accept risks, foresightedplanning and boldness.

The Human Factor

We don't just do what the customer wants – we do what's necessary to make our customers successful. This productive, working exchange between our customers and engineers together with our high degree of precision during construction andin the workshop always leads to better results.

Of course, at Börger we also understand that the end-priceplays an important role in competition. But the purchase costsof a pump do not say anything about its cost effectiveness. These economics can only really be worked out over the mid tolong-term. Naturally, we'll be pleased to work out how muchyou could save on the cost of energy and replacement partsover the years with a rotary lobe pump from Börger.

Börger products are also highly efficient thanks to their extremely short periods of downtime needed for replacingparts. The less prone to failure a component is and the easierit is to replace, the more economical the pump is as a whole. The Maintenance in Place Concept from Börger guaranteesthat, when needed, the replacement of wearing parts can becarried out in the blink of an eye by regular employees directlyin-situ without any de-installation.

German Quality

in the International Arena

Is German manufacturing quality still affordable these days? At Börger we think so. Because true quality always pays for itself in the end. For this reason, Börger still bases its production facilities at Borken-Weseke. Many individual parts are produced by our suppliers in the region. The concept is as follows: climbing production numbers and worldwide customer satisfaction justify our reluctance to leave our production facilities in Germany.

2004 Product innovation: With the Powerfeed SSR, Börger presents anew insertion method for inserting solids in flowing liquids. Theintended areas of use include the booming biogas sector. Theprinciple is so simple yet incredibly successful. The solids are introduced to fluid flowing through a pipe using a combination ofa spiral and a screwed spindle.

2005 Innovations and other product developments are presented at theforemost, international trade fair IFAT in Munich, with the OptimumRotors in prime focus. Börger's catalogue is furthermore presentedat 20 more global trade fairs. With the launch of the new XL rotarylobe pump, Börger now offered the largest rotary pump in theworld. The pumping volume totals 1,000 m³/h (4,400 usgpm).

2006 Börger – the next generation: with the appointment of AnneBörger-Olthoff to the Management Board, our customers andpartners can rest assured that the company will continue to remain in family hands. This means more fair deals as partnerstogether with innovation and risk acceptance. Happy end ofyear figures – Börger's global presence shows visibly good results: growth in sales figures exceeds the 40% mark for thefirst time. A victory for quality: the world demands rotary lobepumps from Börger!

2006/07 Börger finally covers all bases with the design and launch of theEL range and now offers pumps with capacities from 1 - 1,000 m³(4.4 - 4,400 usgpm) with its six ranges of pumps and 16 sizes.Furthermore, all rotary lobe pumps from Börger are really uni-versally mounted.

2007 Purchase of 18,000 m² (193,800 sq.ft) of commercial propertybordering the current property. Planning for the construction ofproduction and warehousing facilities. Number of subsidiariesup to 7 with 20 additional companies below them, in many important economic regions around the globe. On top of thistrade connections and relations exist in over 50 countries.

2008 Only Börger offers such a diverse range of models: six ranges with16 sizes allow all customers to make the right selection. A largeportion of the pump programme – up to 500 m³/h (2,200 usgpm) –is also available in a stainless steel finishing.

2009 In the course of the construction of the new 3,000 m² (32,300 sq.ft)production and warehouse facilities, new pump testing facilitieswill also be built. With testing pools up to 10 m (33 ft) deepand an optimised pipe system, these testing facilities will beable to to handle pumps with capacities of up to 1,500 m³/h(6,600 usgpm).

2010 Börger emphasizes the products development to meet the requirements of the renewable and bio energy markets. Recentproduct designs include: Bioselect, Powerfeed SSE and the BiogasPump with the Premium Profile Rotor – three components for asuccessful biogas plant.
