2,000 fans kicked off the new PNC Celebrity Series with Gladys Knight and The OJays.

Extra shows were added for the first time to meet demand for LES MiSraBLES and CirquE DrEaMS HOLiDazE.

57,506 fans enjoyed WiCKEDs third Charlotte engagement, which set a box office sales house record at Ovens auditorium for each of the three consecutive weeks that it played.

Whirl More than 1,000 people watched 75 local

performers give it a whirl on Blumenthal stages while participating in our new active arts program called Whirl.

Affinity Groups 3,684 fans attended our affinity Groups and

other outreach programs where they learned more about our shows and made new friends.

Ticket Scholarships and Discounts Our ticket scholarships made our programs

accessible to the entire community.

334 tickets through the Duke Energy and Family First ticket scholarship programs were given to economically challenged families to see SiSTEr aCT and WiCKED.

More than 1,500 free tickets were given to dozens of community organizations like Big Brothers, Big Sisters to introduce the arts to kids.

Our $20 student rush tickets helped 5,576 students to attend our shows.

Digital Connection More than 20,000 fans connected with us via

Facebook and Twitter.

Our website received nearly 1.5 million visits from people wanting to learn more about our shows and programs. More than half of our fans buy their tickets online through our website.

Two lucky winners of a Facebook contest were sent to New York to attend the Tony awards as seat-fillers people who temporarily fill seats of award winners and presenters during the broadcast.

Other Each Broadway show that we presented

featured closed captioning and signed interpretation for the hearing-impaired, as well as audio description for the blind.

Hosted the 2012 National Poetry Slam, which attracted more than 350 poets and teams from across the country for a weeklong Slam Poetry Contest.

Hosted the Charlotte premiere of season two of the Showtime series Homeland.

An area resident performs at open Mic, the first program in our participatory arts initiative, Whirl, that gives local artists a chance to show their talents on our stages.

We raised $84,500 to send Freedom Schools students, as well as students and parents in our Family First program, to see Disneys THE LiON KiNG.

1,955 students from 32 high schools participated in the second annual High School Musical Theater awards (The Blumey awards).

$77,000 in annually renewable scholarships was distributed among seven students through the Mary Doctor Performing arts Scholarship fund.

29 high school students participated in the Junior ambassadors program.

1,561 elementary and middle school students and 207 teachers and chaperones participated in our Broadway Junior Theater Celebration.

12 high school students and three teachers were selected by application for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York for a behind the scenes educational program as part of The Broadway Experience.

We installed an all-wood orchestra shell at the Knight Theater to create Charlottes premiere midsize concert hall to enjoy classical music performed by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and others.

Because of Charlottes reputation as a great Broadway town, Charlotte theater fans sometimes wind up experiencing highly anticipated Broadway shows before New York!Last season, Blumenthal Performing arts presented the Broadway

revival of JEKYLL & HYDE before it returned to Broadway in spring 2013. The Blumenthal showing produced the second highest one-week gross of the tour with $858,436. additionally, JEKYLL & HYDE garnered the highest sales for the opening show of a Broadway Lights Series season at Blumenthal Performing arts.

BriNG iT ON: THE MuSiCaL played Belk Theater in april 2011, four months before opening on Broadway. in June, the show was nominated for the Tony award for best musical.

TraCES, returned to Charlotte in May 2012 for a two-week showing in Knight Theater after a highly successful New York run in union Square Theatre. But Charlotte fans also saw this one first when TraCES played McGlohon Theater as part of our Broadway Lights Series in 2008, and that engagement helped to launch the show into the spotlight, resulting in national and international tours, as well as its New York engagement.
