We did a Promotional pop video for our band . We set the video to the song ‘Another Girl Another Planet' by The Only Ones. We aimed to portray a world full of no care .Where the aim of life is to have fun and enjoy yourself no matter the consequences. Our song is about the joys of heroin and making it as a rock star. We tried to portray this idea by having the camera following around the group as they traveled from venue to venue aboard their tour bus in a documentary shot style .

The purpose of the creation of the digipack was to effectively promote and sell the band. We achieved this by making the front of our CD over stand out to our audience.

We created the magazine advert in attempt to try and promote and sell our band . The idea was to sell the band touring as this how most of the money is made in the modern day. We used a simple colour range of black and white , but to maintain the effect of edginess we used two very vibrant colours blue and pink . This shows rebelliousness as it is going againt the original black and white colour scheme.

Carlsson explain in his theory that a music video is many-facetedmultdiscursive phenomenon . Some generally acknowledged “facts” about music videos are that:

a )Music videos communicate through TV-Screen and TV-speakersb )Music videos are a form of low-brow popular culturec) The reception of music videos depends on the beholder (music

video may be beautiful or ugly, art or trash etc.)

Carlsson explain that there are 3 theories that are based on how the pop star performs within the music video and as the band.

Commercial ExhibitionistThe job of the Commercial Exhibitionist is to not be the

performer . They have to have to create an image and sell it. They have to sell all aspects about themselves , including their voice, face, lifestyle and records. They want success and try to evoke the charisma of their stardom and sexuality .Examples include (Madonna, Lady Gaga)

Televised BardsThe role of the bard is to be a storyteller within the

songs . They sing banal lyrics using television as a medium. The bard is a story teller that sings a story using the onscreen images to tell the narrative, instead of inner , personal images . They created audio-visual poetry. Examples include ( Bob Dylan , Bruce Springsteen)

Electronic ShamanThe shaman is sometimes invisible and only the voice and

rhythm can anchor the visuals. He often shifts between multiple shapes and objects. The shaman can animate dead objects or be shifting through time . The shaman is our guide on a spiritual journey through blipping images and magical attributes. He promises there is a hidden meaning in everything and his voice and rhythm can simultaneously create new experiences and associations for those involved in the conscious-streaming . Examples include (Mick Jagger and Tinne Tempah)

We felt our video portrayed the main performer as Carlsson described as an commercial exhibitionist. Our singer is putting him self into the music and trying to sell himself in his songs and his music videos. It is all about the element of performance and how he can sell himself through these ideologys of sexual magnetism , rebelliousness and youthfulness

The term star refers to the semi-mythological set of meanings constructed around music performers in order to sell the performer to a large and loyal audience. Dyer states that a star is an image, not a real person, constructed (as any other aspect of fiction is) out of a range of materials. (e.g. advertising, magazines, as well as featuring music in films and television). Stars are commodities produced and consumed on the strength of their own meaning.

Claude Levi-Strauss identifies myths as narratives that belong to cultures rather than individuals, which tend to be passed down through generations. Through his works he identified a large number of social structures (importance of kin, nurturing role of females, taboo on incest etc). He also believed that myths were more than just entertainment for a culture, instead he claimed they perform a valuable social function by embodying values and ideas which are important for particular societies, often in the form of binary oppositions. By dealing with these values through the fictional forms of myths, a society can defuse potential conflict and tension.
