BIG NEWS

Back to school…. January is always a really big month for our Kenyan kids as they head back to school. Kenyan schools operate over 3 terms. Traditionally Jan-April, May-Aug & Sept - Nov. The majority of our children are located within an hour’s travel from Nyahururu and the schools are many, hid-den in various parts of this vast countryside. Quite a lot of travel for our Field Officer; Betty who visits all the schools. She catches a ‘Boda Boda’ motorbike as a passenger or a public ‘Matatu’ bus - a 14 seater Nissan which has up to 23 people (personal experience) crammed inside, which is quite an experience!

BIG sponsorship funds pay for the term fees along with stationery and uniforms for the children. That’s 38 children all coming into Nyahururu or nearby to try on their uniforms, shoes etc., BIG then pays the schools, shops and seamstresses directly which ensures accountability.
