Closing Mass for 125th and My Acts of Faith Booklets - Our year-long 125th Anniversary celebration will come to a close this coming Saturday, May 6th. We will begin with the Closing Mass at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Mitchell Rozanski will be the Principal Cel-ebrant and Fr. James McCurry, OFM Conv., our Provincial, will be the homilist. Part of the prayers to be offered are the My Acts of Faith booklets that you received last year. At the Closing Mass during the Offertory Proces-sion we offer all of our prayers and good works to God. So, please return your booklet any time

now or bring them to the Closing Mass. They can also be dropped off in the Parish Office. The evening will conclude with a banquet at the Castle of the Knights. Let us join together to give God praise and honor for all of the blessings that He has so lavishly heaped upon us these first 125 years and pray for His grace for the parish and ourselves as we contin-ue our mission of proclaiming the Good News. If you were wondering, the 6:00 p.m. Mass next Saturday will be held as usual. Holy Week and Easter Thanks! - Our Liturgical celebrations of Holy Week and Easter, I hope, were spiritually uplift-ing for all who attended. So much goes into making these liturgies possible by a good number of people. Thanks to all who served the parish and our visitors as Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion, Altar Servers, and Ushers. All of you play an integral role in each liturgy. A very special word of thanks to Fr. Michael who coordinated all of the liturgies. Much time was put in planning, rehearsing, and executing. We are blessed that so many are willing to share the gifts of the Spirit so that we can build up the Body of Christ. Thanks so much to all of our ministers of mu-sic in the 10:00 a.m. and Polish choirs. It is very evident from the quality of the music that they all worked very hard in preparing themselves to help us “pray twice.” Special thanks to Margaret Bielin and Jan Makselon for their leadership, as well as our cantors, Mike Broer and Bill Ferron. Stations of the Cross Kudos - Special thanks to our 7th & 8th graders for leading our living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. Through their hard work in preparing they were able to lead all of us in a very prayerful remembrance of our Lord’s journey to Calvary. Likewise, the San Damiano Youth Group once again did a superb job in their presenta-tion of the Stations a week earlier. All of these young people are taking their faith lives very seriously and are also using their God-given gifts and talents to give praise and worship to God. Thank you very much for leading the parish in such meaningful prayer. Easter Collection - Thank you to everyone who was so generous in your Easter envelopes. As you can see on the next page the combined collection on Easter was in excess of $22,000. Many parishioners also drop off their contributions at the office or through the mail, as some go away, for which we are also most grateful. Those continue to come in so we do not have a final count on those gifts at this time. Thank you for giving honor to God through your generosity! Paschal Candle - The preeminent symbol of the Easter season is the Paschal Candle which stands tall in the sanctuary. This year Eleanor Davio, who comes to weekday Masses here, but who is a parishioner at another parish, wanted to do something for St. Stan’s parish in thanksgiving for the weekday services that are offered at the Basilica. Her donation of $440 in memory of her mom and dad, Olga & Leon, covered the cost of this year’s Paschal Candle. Thank you very much for your generosity!

Divine Mercy Last Sunday- This past Sunday we celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday. We are grateful that Bishop Rozanski joined us as the Principal celebrant and English homilist for the Mass, while Fr. Tomasz gave the Polish homily. Jan Makselon and Chris Marini once again helped us lift our voices in praise of God through music. In addition, thank you to everyone who attended and was involved in the planning and carrying out of our Divine Mercy celebration. While a number of parishioners helped with various aspects of the celebration, I want to acknowledge the efforts of our parishioners, Bob Buckley and Gladys Les, for the leadership that they have given to this celebration once again this year.

Divine Mercy Throughout the Year - The most important aspect of Divine Mercy Sunday is the lavish mercy of God that is always available to us. Jesus suffered and died for the forgiveness of our sins. May we always know that nothing need separate us from God’s love and mercy. Let us readily acknowledge our sins so as to be embraced by God’s love and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation throughout the year. In our parish we have chosen the 1st Sunday of each month to highlight two aspects of Divine Mercy. We are asked to share God’s mercy with those less fortunate than our-selves by bringing one canned good or non-perishable food item which is then given to Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen. We also gather from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for an hour of prayer and reflection on a different aspect of God’s mercy. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of May so consider joining for an hour of prayer as we reflect on Mary, Mother of Mercy.

CELEBRATING OUR FAITH, FAMILY AND FUTURE

A BIT OF HISTORY…

“In August of 1991, in the midst of the Centennial Celebra-tions, Father Marion Tolczyk was trans-ferred to a new as-signment, the pastor-ship of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury, CT. Father Marion returned on November 17, 1991. He was an honored guest at the 2:00 p.m. Centennial Mass in the Basili-ca and at the banquet at Chez Josef in Agawam, MA The new pastor, Fr. Michael Kolodziej, arrived from Holy Trinity Parish in Lawrence, MA. The new church leader had a Masters Degree in Education from Boston College with a rich background in academics, theology, peda-gogy and administration.

During the 1990s, parochial schools were closing in record numbers. Six years later, Father Kolodziej and Mrs. Del-phine Skiba, were the Father Cyman Award Recipients for 1997. Mrs. Skiba was recognized for her thirty years of exemplary contributions as a teacher/administrator in the parish school. The pastor was feted for “A Promise Re-newed” with the St. Stanislaus School and Parish Center Endowment Fund. The Fund Drive from January 1995 through December 31, 1997 raised a half a million dollars. Only the income generated by the investment could be used on a yearly basis for school and parish center needs.’” - Stephen R. Jendrysik

Easter Flower and Meal Memorials - In this weekend's bulletin (see p. 8) is the final list-ing of all who donated toward our Easter Flower and Meal Memorials. Your generosity made it possible for our church to be so beautifully decorated. It is also a wonderful way to help those who need assistance to have something to eat. Your memorial donations totaled $7,333 of which $2,245 was for meals. Once again we divided the proceeds between Lor-raine's Soup Kitchen and Pantry ($1,345) and Kate's Kitchen ($900) in Holyoke. Thank you for helping make the house of God so beautiful and for helping to feed the hungry. This was the first holiday since mom Stacia Mazur died on February 10th. Her daughters, Sharon and Stacia, along with the help of family, friends, and parishioners kept up the beautiful work of their mom and dad Stanley had been doing for decades at the parish by decorating the church for Christmas and Easter. As you can well imagine there was sadness amidst the pride of continuing something that meant so much to their mom and dad. I also extend special thanks to Mary Blanchette and her helpers who are keeping the flowers watered and cared for during the entire Easter season. Final Thoughts - Mark your calendars and plan on attending our school's annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 4th at Wyckoff Country Club. Come and join the Knights of Columbus for their semi-annual living rosary at the Castle of the Knights on Tuesday, May 2, at 7:00 pm. The Red Sox and Orioles are acting like the Hatfield and McCoys. Could be interesting over the next 14 games this year with four this week at Fenway after the Orioles took 2 of 3 in Baltimore. Have a Blessed week. - Fr. Joe

Celebrating our Faith, Family and Future

Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing as we celebrate the 125th Anniversary

of our Parish Family.

Strengthen our faith, that we might possess the courage and will to give living witness to You

in all that we do and to all whom we meet.

Fill our hearts with love for one another

that through our prayers and actions we might “welcome the stranger”

and truly become one family, brothers and sisters in Christ.

Renew a spirit of hope within us as we look to the future and commit ourselves to building up Your Kingdom here on earth.

We ask this, as all things, through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Weekly Stewardship Report

The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked and talked with Jesus all day long, but it was not until they offered Him hos-pitality and He blessed and broke the bread that they recognized Him. Simple acts of loving kindness still reveal the presence of God in our midst.

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny - 30 kwiecień 2017

3 Niedziela wielkanocna

Woody Allen w jednej ze swoich komedii wcielił się w postać Leonarda Zeliga – człowieka bez tożsamości. Zmienia się on psychicznie i fizycznie, zgodnie z oczekiwaniami innych ludzi.

Nasze oczy są „zniewolone” obrazem Boga, którego sami wymyśliliśmy, by łatwo można było dopasować Go do własnych potrzeb, grzechów i słabości. Kiedy okazuje się inny, bardziej wymagający, jesteśmy rozczarowani i wmawiamy sobie, że to nie On.

(ks. Eugeniusz Burzyk) Chrzest: Do wspólnoty Kościoła katolickiego została włączona Natasza M. Bryda i Aiden J. Aragon. Niech Pan błogosławi dziecku, rodzicom i chrzestnym. Nowi parafianie: Witamy Monikę Urbanowicz i syna Jacob Almodover. Niech Pan im błogosławi a my bądźmy dla nych dobrym przykładem chrześcijańskiego życia. Zmarli: Naszym modlitwom polecają się zmarli Malcolm Lasseter, Zofia Minko i John Sawyer. Niech Pan dzięki naszym modlitwom otworzy im bramy nieba.
