Parish Bazaar - Our parish bazaar began at Noon on Saturday and will go until 8:00 p.m. and will open on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Thanks in advance to all who have been working so hard to make our Annual Bazaar a great success. In order for all of that hard work to bear good fruit we need everyone to come and support the bazaar. Invite your family and friends to come and spend some time at the bazaar. There will be plenty of good home made Polish food, beverage, and mu-sic to go along with the games of chance. We are so pleased that Joey Dziok and Sarah the Fiddler will

be providing some great music for all to enjoy. Don’t forget to return your raffle tickets or buy some at the bazaar to have a chance to win one of the 18 prizes totaling $5,000 including the grand prize of $2,500! Good luck! Parish Appreciation Night - Below my column is the RSVP for our Parish Appreciation Night on October 28th. We are looking forward to a very nice evening to celebrate all that is done by so many throughout the year. It is very im-portant that you respond by the October 18th deadline so that we have enough food and drink for everyone. Congratulations to our Newly Confirmed - Last Saturday, October 6th, Bishop Mitchell Rozanski celebrated the Sac-rament of Confirmation for 23 of our parishioners here at the Basilica. Thanks so much to Karen Ford, our Confirmation Program Coordinator, and Fr. Michael Englert who oversees all Faith Formation programs of the parish and all of the catechists who helped this class last year including Michael Ford, Rick Fournier, James Janczulewicz, Michael Johnston, Michael Kelly, and Michael Pray (that’s a lot of Michaels!). Please join me in thanking all of them for sharing their faith and time and helping our young people to grow in their faith. Thanks also to Janet Federici and Kristie Pray who have joined the catechists this year. Special thanks to all of those who made the celebration very special that night including the San Damiano Music Minis-try led by Chris Marini. Allow me to use this moment to encourage other young people who are musically talented in song and/or playing to consider supplementing and enhancing our San Damiano Youth Ministry. You can contact Chris Marini at (413) 262-1325 or email him at [email protected]. I am also grateful to the Rosary and St. Vincent DePaul Societies who provided and served some refreshments in the Lower Basilica afterwards.

Congratulations to our Newly Confirmed (Confirmation Name is in Bold)

Parish Finance Committee - Since the end of July the Finance Committee of the parish has met three times, including twice (July 31 and September 23) with the newly formed Facilities Committee. (More to come on the work of the Facil-ities Committee and its work in the near future.) The members of the Parish Finance Committee are Helen Banas, Jo-seph Dias, Michael Ford, Carole Harms, Jay Kruzel, John Krzeminski, John Michon, Joseph Peters (Chair) along with Deacon Jim Ziemba, David Kupiec and myself. At its most recent meeting on October 2nd the Finance Committee re-viewed our year ending June 30, 2017 Income Statement and Balance Sheet. Those year ending reports were unani-mously approved and accepted as presented. The Income Statement had a positive bottom line that allowed for a discus-sion of how to use those funds, including some significant upcoming capital expenses, the replacement of the boilers in the school and other ongoing needs in the Basilica and other parish buildings. The Finance Committee also reviewed and unanimously approved the 2017-18 parish budget. A mailing is being prepared to share these reports with all of you. I am most grateful for the experience and expertise that all of these members bring to the Committee and for them being willing to share those talents on behalf of the parish. I am also so very grateful to all of you, the parishioners, who have helped put the parish in a better position financially this past year so as to meet the spiritual and temporal needs of the parish. I will be able to share much more with you through the reports that will be sent to you. In the meantime, thank you for all you do for the parish!

2018 Mass Book - The 2018 Mass Book opens on Wednesday, October 18th. See page 5 for our Mass policy as well as opportunities to donate for flowers and candles in memory of your loved ones. Health Fair & Flu Shots - Thanks to the help of our own Bro. Michael Duffy, OFM Conv. and the student nurses from Elms College we will be able to offer some basic services to all of our parishioners the weekend of October 21 & 22. At both the front of the Basilica and on the side of the Basilica next to the friary you will be able to have your blood pres-sure and blood sugar checked. They will also be present to answer questions and review your medications. In addition, with the help of Big Y’s Pharmacy Department this year flu shots will also be available from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Satur-day and 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. If your health insurance covers the cost of the flu shot please bring your in-surance card. If you do not have health insurance or your health insurance does not cover the cost then the shot will be given at no charge to you. I hope that you will find this service helpful to you. Parish Game Night and Pot Luck Supper - On Saturday, October 21st after the 6:00 p.m. Mass the San Damiano Group is sponsoring a Pot Luck Supper and Parish Game Night in the gym and cafeteria. There is no cost to attend, but you are asked to bring a dish to share and a board game or card game to play. Contact Brian and Rhonda Kelly at (413) 782-5993 for more information. Final Thoughts - I will be on retreat this week in Connecticut from Monday, October 16 to Friday, October 20. Please keep me in prayer as I will all of you. • Please be sure to turn in your RSVP form for the Parish Appreciation Night by Wednesday of this week. • As I write, while the Yankees sent the ALDS back to Cleveland for a deciding Game 5, the Red Sox succumbed to the Astros in four games. Going into week six of the NFL schedule the Bills, Patriots and Ravens are all 3 - 2. Pretty sure not many would have predicted that. Have a blessed week and hope to see you at the Bazaar!! - Fr. Joe

In the Gospel today, the owner of the vineyard sent messengers to collect his share of the harvest from the tenant farm-ers, but there was not a single good stew-ard on the property! God is the owner, we are the tenants. What sort of stewards are we?

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny - 15 październik 2017

28 Niedziela zwykła - rok A

Jeśli wartości z sobą kolidują, to zawsze trzeba rezygnować z tych niższych.

Niektórzy z zaproszonych na ucztę mieli ważne powody, by odmówić. Zarówno praca, jak i związane z nią obowiązki, to rzeczy istotne, potrzebne i konieczne. A jednak zostali ukarani, bo zlekceważyli zaproszenie.

Inaczej widzimy Boga, człowieka, samych siebie i cały świat. (ks. Eugeniusz Burzyk)
