Joanne and Jeremy Norfolk present "Banstead Bound" The Woolpack, 186 High Street, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 2NZ Sunday 17th July 2016, 2.15 p.m. 3.1 miles, 4.8 km The Walk: A mostly level walk along paved streets, footpaths and fields. The route through the fields is rather uneven and may not be suitable for buggies. The Venue: The Woolpack is a Shepherd Neame pub which serves real ales and a good selection of wines. It opens on Sundays at 12.00 and serves food until 6.00 pm. Traditional Sunday roasts are available and there is also an a la carte menu. Tel: 01737 354560 or web: www.thewoolpackbanstead.co.uk. There is a garden and patio area. The pub has a car park but we would recommend using the public car park in the high street, next to All Saints Church (£1 charge on Sundays) or parking in the street. There is also the Horse Shoe car park at the opposite end of the high street, just off the roundabout, but this more expensive. OS Grid Reference: TQ 257 598. Directions: From the M25: leave at junction 8, head north on Brighton Road / A217 for about 5 miles until you see a BP garage and Romans International on right. Turn right at the traffic lights onto Garratts Lane / B2217 (filter lane). Turn left at mini-roundabout. Turn right at next roundabout (you’ll see Zizzi restaurant on the roundabout) and go to other end of the high street. The Woolpack is on the right just past the police station. Public Transport: Sutton is the nearest station with a regular Sunday service (about 2.5 miles from Banstead) see www.nationalrail.co.uk. There is a taxi rank at Sutton Station and the S1 bus service runs to Banstead about every half-hour.
