The Meeting attended by the Executive Team headed by the CEO, all Heads of Departments, Managers and Branch Managers started with introductory remarks by the Head of Department HR & Administration who welcomed all and thanked everyone for sparing their time to attend the retreat.

The CSSO introduced the theme for the retreat as “Transforming the Best Bank to become the Great Bank”. She mentioned that the journey to transform Bank of Kigali to the Great Bank is not a one day or one year journey. It is a journey that will take several years and require concerted teamwork of the management team and the staff that they lead.

The CSSO also emphasized the need for all departments and branch managers to evaluate how their KPIs link and contribute to the overall KPIs of the Bank. She reminded all that all staff must be able to create value for our customers through good service delivery.

Management retreats are valuable experiences and they are fast becoming one of the most effective management tools a company can use. Since people tend to embrace what they have helped to create, a carefully planned retreat will ensure that everyone in your organization will support management decisions.

As the leading Bank in Rwanda, Bank of Kigali needs to not only be a recognizable brand but a leading brand. Bank of Kigali is well capitalized with strong fundamentals and has shown consistent growth. The Management encouraged staff to identify themselves with the growth of the country as Bank of Kigali forms an important part of the economic development of the country.

Management reminded those present of the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Values of the Bank and encouraged staff to always create value for customers and for staff as well contribute to the innovation of the Bank products and services. The Chief Operating Officer presented the 2015 KPIs and stressed the need to achieve all the set KPI’s. All departments then went on to present their 2014 achievements against set KPIs as well as their 2015 Key Performance Indicators.

The CEO emphasized the need for staff to continually monitor the achievement agreed action plans and target and report progress in the monthly management meetings. He then went on to deliver a training session on value based leadership concepts. These are geared towards equipping staff with the necessary concepts that will assist them in embracing reforms necessary to transform from the Bank from a good to a great Bank.

The CEO also made remarks on Corporate Governance noting that the Bank has put in place the necessary corporate governance structures to ensure that it is being governed in the best interests of the shareholders.

The meeting ended on 1st February 2015 with a summary of the key action points to be implemented by each department.

Bank of Kigali needs to not
