SALUTATION

January, 1978

What a great year in the ministry for our Lordl 1977 was one of the greatestyears in the history of the POLISH MINISTRY through the Department of Mission.

First we want to give thanks and glory to God for His guidance, strength, blessings and help, and also we want to SALUTE all our contributors who gave sa-crificially, lovingly and willingly.Because of YOU we were able in 1977:

1. To assist in establishment of 2 new congregations in Poland.

2. To publish regularly Polish monthly magazine "The Guidepost" which reachesthe hands of many Polish speaking people in many lands; to translate and publish a new Cantata "Jesus is Coming"; to send hundreds of packages with Christian literature, New Testaments and Bibles.

3. To keep over 20 Polish preachers on the field who proclaim the Gospel andto train 5 students for the ministry.

4. To send 2 Organs and one electric piano to Poland.

5. To purchase one house of worship, one parsonage and restore and rebuild 3houses of worship.

6. To beam the Gospel of Christ to Poland and other countries through 2 radiostations: Monte Carlo and IBRA.

PAUL BAJKO AND ADAM KORENCZUK WILL VISIT POLAND IN MAY AND

JUtj,E,1978_Since our last visit to Poland in 1976 we received many letters from individuals, Churches, radio listeners and people who seek salvation asking us to comeagain to Poland in order to visit churches, preach and visit those who are inthe need of salvation.

But those trips are costly and it is our policy to make them only once in twoot three years.We believe that although our personal visits are recommended and desired, themoney which we would spend each year on travels will accomplish much morewheninvested directly in.local-work in Poland.

Since our last trip many things happened in Poland and were done for Poland:Three new congregations have been started, new properties were purchased, theproperty of the Christian Service Camp was transfered from individual to theWarsaw Church of Christ, Radio studio to produce cassette tapes and to recordsongs and messages was built in Warsaw and several young men graduated from theAcademy of Theology and became active ministers of the Gospel.Taking all that in consideration we feel that it is not only advisable but necessary to go this year to Poland and see what is being accomplished there andto meet with preachers, Christian workers, youth leaders and find out abouttheir needs, victories and failures, to develop new programs, to preach in churches, to visit radio listeners and others and to win soulifor Christ.

This time Dela will not be able to go with me, because our daughter Yvonne isexpecting her first baby in June and Dela would like to be with her, but Bro.Adam Korenczuk, minister of the Slavic Church, a great preacher and singer andalso member of our Guidance Committee will go with me to preach, sing and visit.On our way back we will stop in several Western European Countries in order tovisit radio listeners and to preach the Gospel.

The whole trip will last 45 days - it is the most economical ticket.Because we are officially invited by our churches in Poland, we are excused bythe Polish Embassy from the official money exchange which will be a great saving. - All our needs in Poland will be taken care'by the Brethren there.But even going the most economical way, we will need about S 1,500.00 for twotickets.

The contributions and offerings for the Department of Missions are designatedand are used 100% according designation. We depend upon special contributionsto provide our traveling money.In March we will be traveling extensively to raise the needed amount. Baptismal service in Warsaw

"Dear Bro. Bajko. Peace be unto you.In the name of the Church we thankyou for sending 22,000 zloty towardthe purchase of Bibles which we distribute first of all among radio listeners of your broadcast and amongthose who do not have a Bible yet.We also distribute lots of New Testaments among youth and childrenand during revival meetings. Lastyear 13 persons were baptised inour church. For the money you sentwe purchased 200 Bibles and 300 NewTestaments. May the Lord bless you.Hebr. 6:10. Yours, J.S."

"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bajko, Greetings in the love of Christl I have recently seena copy of your book "Slorica Promienie" /Heavenly Sunshine/. I sometimes have o-pportunity to travel to Poland and feel that it would give me another avenue ofministry if I could learn some of the Polish songs in your book. I want to deepen my knowledge aboutspiritual things so as to beable to use the gifts of God through Jesus Christ. The last months before our trip to Poland were very busy.In March I spent almost four weeks on the road during which I held 2 Faith Promise Rallies, 2 Missionary Rallies and spoke in several churches.That speaking tour took me through Tenessee, Georgia, Florida and Illinois.In April I had another successful Faith Promise Rally in Bolinbrook, 111. andspoke in several churches.

The response to our appeal for funds toward the trip to Poland was tremendous.We raised full amount of needed money. We thank all who contributed toward ourtrip and our work in Poland.

We have full schedule of travels in Poland.- All days of our stay in Poland willbe occupied by preaching, visitations and conferences with our workers.After wG leave Poland we will stop for 15 days in Western Europe. We willpreach in England, France, Germany, Italy and some other places where Polish andRussian people live.

We are very excited about going again to Poland and there is great expectationon the other side of the ocean.

Bro. Adam Korenczuk purchased a guitare, which he will leave in Poland after thetrip is over. He will preach and sing in English, Polish, Russian ans Spanish.We believe that it will be one of the greatest trips.

We ask you to continue to pray for both of us, for ministers in Poland and forthose who will listen to the Word of God preached by us in Churches and homes.

CHURCH IN OSTRODA^POLAND

Ostroda is known to many Brethren in U.S.A. because thereis located Christian ServiceCamp.But there is also the Church.It is a very unique church,because it meets in the Homefor Senior Citizens. There isabout 20 of them who live onthe premisses and about thesame number is coming fromthe city each Lord's Day at10 AM, 6 PM and Wednesday 6PMfor regular services.Among the Senior Citizensthere are devotional services

each day.

The minister of this unique congregation is Bro.PauI Wrobel. He is the son ofthe minister in Matiaszowka, bro. Jozef Wrobel.Paul left his secular job about 6 years ago and entered into ministry. He isa very dedicated servant of the Lord.It was my privilege in 1976 to bring sermon and lay hands on him with other elders, ordaining him into ministry.Never in my life have I heard so many sincere prayers from the congregation asthat day when people thanked God for Bro. Paul, his devotion, dedication and preaching, asking God*s blessing upon his further ministry.In addition to his ministry in the Home and Church, he is very active in the Christian Service Camp which is just 2 km. away from the Church.

POLISH CHRISTIAN MISSION WORK is a very unique, interesting and challengingwork among Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in our Brotherhood inthe United States and in Poland itself.

It has close ties with Johnson Bible College because of the missionary workof Bro. and Sister Jaroshevich who in the early 19 hundreds studied at Johnson and then became our first New Testament missionaries to Poland. Thenit has close ties with Eastern Christian College because of the work of Bro.and Sister Paul Bajko, who from the early 1950*s are associated with thisschool and for last 25 years are involved in the Polish ministry. Finallyit has close ties with Lincoln Christian College and Seminary because two ofour Polish preachers Kostek Jakoniuk and George Bajenski graduated from thisCollege and from the mid 60's are fully involved in the Polish ministry.

There was a period of time that each of the mentioned above missionaries wasworking independently of each other with just a little contact between themselves. God has blessed this work, the New Testament Church was firmly established in Poland. Throughout our 57 years of history of the Christianmissiom work in Poland there was a time of great revivals with about a hundred established congregations and thousands of members, but there was alsoa time of many difficulties.The destructions of the Second World War plus political and social changesdiminished this work greatly. However all through these years the indepen -dent and antonomous work of the Christian Churches - Churches of Christ wascontinued in Poland.

At the present time Poland is the only country in Eastern Europe where existsthe organized work of the New Testament Church of Christ with about 20 established congregations and 12 preaching points.In order that we might be able to assist in the best possible way the workof these Churches, to establish more churches and conduct missionary acti -vities in Poland, RING THE BELLS - Polish Mission represented by George Bajenski and the DEPARTMENT OF MISSIONS united in 1977 their missionary efforts .

Now in full cooperation and having one program we are involved in all pha -ses of Polish Christian Mission work and are the only agency representingthe Polish Christian Ministry among our Brotherhood in the United States.

At the persent time three missionary families; Paul and Adela Bajko, Georgeand Vera Bajenski and Boles law and Zenaida Winnik are fully involved in thiswork.

ALL the above mentioned missionaries are working under one organized Independent Mission whose official name is THE DEPARTMENT OF MISSION - POLISHMINISTRY.

THE DEPARTMENT OF MISSION - POLISH MINISTRY is presently under Eastern Christian College incorporation, but it is not part of the collge. Our prog -ram is completly independent from E.C.C. The work of the DEPARTMENT OFMISSION - POLISH MINISTRY is guided and supervised by an independent GUI -

DANCE COMMITTEE made up of 12 Christian men.

All contributions which are send to the Department of Missions are solely usedfor the Polish Ministry.From our mission fund living-link salaries are paid for three missionary families, preachers in Poland and all other expenses connected with Radio ministry,printing Christian literature, Song books, musical records and tapes. Bibles,New Testaments, purchase of new properties in Poland, Christian Service Camp,relief ministry with used clothing, medicine and many other mission activities.

In addition to all the work which was mentioned we maintain constant communication with churches, preachers, christiaii workers and people in Poland by meansof correspondence, tapes and personal visits.These visits are done by rotation of Payl Bajko and George Bajenski and theyare approved at the annual meeting of the Guidance Committee. This gives us theopportunity to be personally involved in the work in Poland using special teaching sesions and conferences with our preachers and local workers. It alsogives us the first hand opportunity to see the accomplishments in the work andlearn of some needs.

The DEPARTMENT OF MISSION has also a growing ministry among Slavic speakingpeople in the United States.At present our main involvonent is in the work of the Slavic Church of Christin Baltimore, however we remain in clo^e contact with many groups of Polish,Russian and Ukrainian spaeking Christiars and individuals scattered across theUnited States, assisting them in their spiritual needs.

Many times we have said this before to you, our Friends, but really it is onlythrough God's constant guidance and your faithfulness in prayer and financialsupport that this ministry is made possible. THE LORD WAS WITH US.

The trip to Poland is'̂ history now. During the 25 days in Poland we preached tothousands of people. Each day there were 2-3 services and between and after theservices till 1-2 AM we were meeting with people in their homes, talking and studying the Bible with them.During that trip much was accomplished. We visited almost all our churches andnew mission stations. Everywhere people are hungry for the Word of God and fellowship with Christians. We found that people are reading our literature withgreat interest and ask for more.The broadcast from Monte Carlo and IBRA stations are very effective in winningsouls for Christ. Followup work is intensified.Songs which Dela translated are sung everywhere and there is constant demand formore songbooks. People ask for more Bible study material. Life of Christ visualized all 3 books and Book of Acts are now in print in Poland - there are alreadythousands on the waiting list for those books. Bibles and New Testaments are ingreat demand.Christian Service Camp is in progress with many youngsters there. Youth is veryactive in the churches and in evengelistic efforts.Preachers are faithfully proclaiming the Gospel. We spent much time in conferea-ces with our preacher;- and Christian workers.All that work is dom because of YOU, wonderful Christians, who help us with thisgreat ministry. Churches in Poland salute you and say "Thank You very much!"Here at the home base George Bajenski with family were busy in visiting Churctesin the States and Western Canada, and speaking in Camps.Bro. Winnik enjoyes good health and although he is over 70 years old still goesstrong in the work for the Lord preparing together with George radio messages,recording and sending out Christian literature.

From the Airport we were taken to Pulawska St. where we set up our central pointof operations. I could not keep my eyes open but put up a good front for awhile.That evening we went to Lewczuk's for our first Polish meal. After the opulentdinner Bro. Bajko had a conference with Lewczuks while I sang the time awaywiththeir daughters. This was only a harbinger of things to come when our days wouldbe filled with activities. In the morning we had an official tour of Memorial Hospital Child Health Center and in the afternoon we visited two privite homes.After dinner we toured the recording Studio at the Pulawska St. Church whichwas built by Department of Missions, and then we had another conference.On May 27 we had a very fruitful 3 1/2 hours meeting with the younger generationof preachers and workers in which they expressed their hopes, aspirations and concerns in reference to the future spiritual work in Poland. Several concrete plansresulted from this. In the afternoon Bro. Paul performed a wedding ceremony atPulawska St. Church in which I s^ng the Love of God and the Lord's Prayer.On May 28, our first Lord's Day inPoland, we took part in 3 services. ___On Monday at 8:00 AM we had anothermeeting with the younger workersthat preceded the general meeting ofalmost all the workers and preachers,which proved to be the highlight ofour visit to Poland, as much was a-ccomplished during this 4 1/2 hourssession with the spiritual leaders lfaJMMW|L^ - ^^1^3from all over Poland. nue its publication after 20 years, they all clamoured that if anything it*s circulation should be increased as there is a great demand for this magazine through-*out the Churches. We were mich encouraged by this positive feedback fron the wor -kers. During our visit to the various Congregations and privite homes we also received the sane positive response concerning the Drogowskaz, and all other publi -cations by Department of Missions, in particular the song books.On May 30, we departed from Warsaw to visit congregations in Kolobrzeg, Bialogard,Gdansk, Ostroda /Christian Service Camp and the Home for the Aged/, Olsztyn, Biala-Podlaska, Siemiatycze /Here Bro. Bajko was informed that he had beccHne a granfather/.On June 6, we visited Bialystok, Szeszyly, Sielc, Czarna Srednia, Siemiatycze andarrived in Biala - Podlaska at 45 minutes past midnight. During that day we had 3services, 3 conferences, Bible study, visited 6 homes and 1 had 8 meals. That daywill go down in our personal history as a memorable day in which our endurance wastested to the maximum.

June 7, we visited several families in Warsaw, preached at the Baptist Church andnext day we departed to southern Poland to preach in Wisla, Ustron, Bielsko - Biala, Dabrowa Gomicza, Katowice and Sosnowiec. June 17, we departed from Poland toother countries in Europeicompletelysatisfied with what was accomplished, 11and July we returned home.

One of them was Brother Peter Bronowicki who started

the New Testament Church inhis house in Bialogard.

* ' ctuary attached to the house.When Bro. Bronowicki moved to Olsztyn and Bro. Zdzislaw Woloszczyk came to Bialogard we purchased Bronowicki*s house for a parsonage.The church was powing and the sanctuary is filled each Lord's Day, The churchhad also 3 mission stations one of whicH became just recently an independentChurch.

In 1977 the church called Bro. Roman Szmigiel, a dedicated young man as theirmi-nister, who is working there with great success. They have a youth group, Sunday School for children and a choir.

This year they had to make capital repair of the building. After being therethis summer and seeing the progress and great need we helped them with repairsand purchase of an organ. The church is missionary minded.
