Scottish National Mid Trail Championships: A few Pitreavie athletes headed to the beautiful location of Falkland at the weekend for the

mid-trail champs. Emily Nicolson took along fellow runners Sophie Nethery and Alana Sneddon which meant

they could run both as individuals and as a team. Emily who has been on top form in her first season of hill/trail racing won comfortably in a

time of 21.04, 40 seconds ahead of second place. Sophie Nethery was third in a time of 22.29 and Alana was fourth in 27.09. The girls also

won the team event. Well done girls

Queen's Baton Relay: A few Pitreavie members carried the baton through Dunfermline on Thursday on its journey

to Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. One of our most experienced coaches John McDonald carried the baton through

Dunfermline into the Glen. Francis Smith waited down in Dalgety Bay to receive the baton. Both John and Francis then headed to St Andrews to join the other baton carriers for a

celebration. Kilt clad Frank Coyle (one of our Road Runners and officials) also carried the baton and

finally on this local leg we saw former Olympic athlete Ian Mackie (who was also cocahed by John) carry the baton.

John (8:36), Frank (9:42), Francis (10.24) and Ian (12:20). Anna Gordon also carried the Queen's baton through Perth.
