“Pentecost, the Greek word for fi=y, originally began as a celebra4on in thanksgiving for the ’firs?ruits,’ when winter grains

and spring vegetables were harvested, enjoyed, and offered to God. For Chris4ans, Jesus is the ’firs?ruits’ of those who

have died (1 Corinthians 15:23). His Resurrec4on heralds our own at the end of 4me. For now, we live as Chris4ans in the

world, empowered by his Spirit of peace and forgiveness. While Pentecost concludes Easter Time, the gi= of the Holy Spirit

compels us to resound with Easter joys for days to come.”

Temporary Parish Office Hours June 1 through July 3 the parish

office will be closed on Mondays and Fridays. We will be open

Tuesday through Thursday each week, 9am to 2pm.

Phase 1 Reopening Plan! Transfigura4on will begin offering public

Masses again beginning the weekend of June 6-7. These Masses

will be by invita4on only, so that we may ensure that we are follow-

ing social distancing guidelines. Each Sunday we will post a Google

Form to our website, Facebook page and we will send the link

through our MailChimp list for the next weekend Masses. In order

to be considered for an invita4on to a public Mass, you must fill out

the Google Form each week (filling out the Google Form is not an

invita4on and does not guarantee a spot at your preferred Mass).

Invita4ons will go out no later than Friday each week. Please re-

member that the dispensa on from the obliga on to a#end Sun-

day Mass is s ll in place for everyone. Please do not come to

church if you do not feel comfortable doing so and our high-risk

parishioners are strongly encouraged to stay at home. There are

quite a few guidelines in place in order to a7end Mass and these

guidelines will be detailed in the Google Form and were communi-

cated to the parish via a mailing this past week.

Mass & Livestream Schedules Beginning June 6th, we will return to

our normal Mass schedule each week. Saturday Vigil will be at 4:30

p.m. and Sunday Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. Only the 8:30 a.m. Mass

will con4nue to be livestreamed to our Facebook page as long as

there are restric4ons in place that prohibit who can a7end Mass in

person. Wednesday and First Friday Masses will return to 10:00

a.m. and will be livestreamed only un4l further no4ce.

Online Giving We at Transfigura4on want to express our hear?elt

gra4tude for the con4nued financial stewardship of parishioners

and friends during this difficult 4me. With public Masses suspend-

ed, we are asking families to move their financial support online at

offertory.richmonddiocese.org. On the giving page, choose “Church

of the Transfigura4on” in the dropdown list. Please consider seRng

up a recurring gi= to help our parish for the future. Thank you!

Parish Email List We use MailChimp for our large parish email list.

The email list has been very valuable during this 4me in geRng in-

forma4on out to all of our parishioners. If you are not receiving

emails from the parish, contact the parish office to be added.

Parish Pastoral Council Nominaons The Parish Pastoral Council

will be seeking nomina4ons for the upcoming year. We will have

one seat open. All members serve for 3 years. You may nominate

yourself or someone else. We ask everyone to prayerfully consider

this opportunity to serve the parish. If you have any ques4ons call

Mary S4ckler at 201-412-5801 or talk to Bill Dillon or Barbara Con4.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter Spring is in the air! Put a spring in

your marriage! It’s 4me to clean out the old and bring in new life

into your marriage. Learn the techniques to let go of habits that are

will receive on a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend. A7end

one of the upcoming weekends on Sep. 11-13 in Hickory, NC and

Sep. 18-20 in Fairfax, VA. Early sign up is recommended. For more

informa4on visit our website at h7ps://renewarriage-vasouth.org.

St Andrew Cemetery Because of the COVID-19 restric4ons

on gatherings, St. Andrew’s Diocesan Cemetery will not be

celebra4ng our annual Memorial Day Liturgy on Monday,

May 25th. However, Memorial Day flags will be posted on

our veterans’ graves during this special weekend & through

Flag Day, June 14th. Keep in your prayers all of our de-

ceased veterans buried at St. Andrew’s who unselfishly

gave their life so that we could have the freedoms we en-

joy today. God bless them & those serving in the Armed

Forces today. Thank you for your understanding. For any

ques4ons, contact Mandy Tolano at 540-595-7173.

Help Keep Our Food Pantries Going Feeding the hungry is

an important social service offered by Commonwealth

Catholic Chari4es. Dibert Food Pantry in Richmond and

Saint Francis House Food Pantry in Roanoke will con4nue

to distribute food and hold normal opera4ng hours; how-

ever, we have implemented a curbside service to avoid

crowds and unnecessary contact in the building as advised

by the CDC. To learn about suppor4ng one of CCC’s food
