Polypropylene (PP), popular for its mechanical, chemical and thermal performance, is a polymer used worldwide in traditional manufacturing. In addition to its robust features – like resistance to the elements, mold and bacteria – PP also produces less solid waste and CO2 equivalents vs. PET, PS or PVC.

Manufacturers across various industries are looking at alternative technologies to keep plants running in times of crisis. Additive manufacturing can save time and cost, as well as secure operations in times of supply chain disruption. This requires the avail-ability of engineering-grade materials with the right properties. Arnilene® AM6002 (P) is the 3D printing alternative to PP used in traditional manufacturing.

DSM’s Arnilene® AM6002 (P) is a broadly suitable random co-polymer PP powder for PBF printing, ideal for a number of applications across multiple industries. This industry standard material has been optimized for selective laser sintering 3D printing large batches of engineering grade, tough, complex parts with robust mechanical, chemical and thermal properties without compromising on economics or ease of post-processing.

Arnilene® AM6002 (P) is food contact approved for Europe. The material complies with Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 in terms of specifi c measures for groups of materials – in this case, plastics – in form

To meet the need of manufacturers across many industries looking to 3D printing as an alternative supply chain solution, DSM introduces Arnilene® AM6002 (P), a co-polymer polypropylene for powder bed fusion printing.

• Good balance of mechanical, chemical and thermal properties • Easy to process; can be run on existing laser sintering platforms

of the Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 incl. amendments (incl. Regulation (EU) 2019/37)) and Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 (Article 5, 6, und 7). The components and monomers of the product are listed in the Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 and amendments.

Key Benefi ts• Well-known industrial material• Food contact approval in Europe • Good balance of mechanical,

chemical and thermal properties• Easy to process material that can be

run on existing laser sintering platforms• Can be post processed via automated

post processing, as well as dyeing • Hydrophobic • Less waste due to 90% reuse rate

Applications• Production support applications such

as conveyor belt spare parts including guides, sprockets, slides, dosing blocks and creepers

• Applications in food or beverage processing that require food contact approval

• Automotive components including dashboard parts, bumpers, cladding, exterior trim, covers, interior components and fl uid systems

• Applications in consumer and industrial markets, such as (rigid) packaging and production line parts

• Prototyping for PP end-use parts
