The LA courtyardapartment typologyis reinterpretted toincorporate mixed

uses and open upmore space forrecreation.

By rearrangingthe typical unitorganization, residents haveaccess to a largegreen space belowand patios above. The townhousestyle units maintainprivacy and allowfor the units torecieve light from all

A key idea from the DutchDialogues research isthat Modern engineeringprojects provide one layerof protection that has thepotential to fail miserably.Post-Modern Engineeringcalls for multiple levelsof protection, as well asintegrating for multipleuses. With the currentstandard, high levee wallspromote a fear of water.

This scheme features threepreventative care clinicseach providing servicesto Dillard University andthe community whileoffering Nursing studentshands-on experiencewith preventative carein a relaxed naturalenvironment.

The first clinic is actually a residential college

with dorm rooms and public spaces for fitnessclasses, classrooms, and cafes. These halls are

arranged at the new waterfront in a dense

pattern that creates an urban scale publicspace and areas for water retention.
