Health & Fitness Before you can be accepted into the ADF you will need to pass a number of medical tests to ensure you are in peak physical condition and able to serve to your maximum capability. Citizenship You must be an Australian citizen to serve in the ADF. Age and Gender Due to the nature of ADF service, there are age and gender restrictions that apply. To apply for a career in the Navy, Army or Air Force, applicants must be at least 16 years and 6 months old. The minimum age for entry is 17. Education Entry into Navy, Army or Air Force is subject to meeting the education standards set by the ADF. Assessment Session On the day of the Assessment Session you will undergo a Medical Assessment, a Psychological Interview and a Defence Interview. Officer Selection Board (officer applicants only) The Officer Selection Board is an extra step for officer applicants, designed to test leadership skills, teamwork and other individual abilities considered critical to the role of an officer.
