SERVICE CENTERS

Kwik-Fit will sell the entire summer and winter range of passenger

car and 4x4 tyres from Apollo.

The Kwik-Fit Group, with its headquarters in United Kingdom, is the

largest independent automotive parts, repair and replacement

specialists in Europe and one of the largest in the world.

Apollo has the largest network amongst all Indian tyre companies

with over 4200 dealerships.

ATL has strategic tie-ups with Reliance, DCM Shriram Consolidated

Ltd and Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd to improve its customer

reach.

Apollo Tyres, with its headquarters in the National Capital Region ofIndia, made its foray into the European market in May 2009, when it

acquired the premium Dutch tyre manufacturer Vredestein Banden B V

(since renamed Apollo Vredestein B V).

Production of automobile tyres stood at 7mn units in

FY06 i.e., 18% higher than FY05

Production of automobile tubes at 6.2mn units, 14%

higher than in FY05. Truck and bus tyres grew 11%, light trucks grew 8%,

passenger car radials grew 34% and farm vehicles

notched up 13%.

Tyres accounted for 90% of ATLs turnover in FY06.

Aims to increase the production to 10,000 passenger

car radial tyres from about 6,500 tyres per day at

present.

PLANNING AND DESIGN

A computer converts the mathematics of the vehicles

special needs into measurable specifications.

A prototype tyre is then made to test the design's ability to

function as per the desired characteristics.

Developing a market ready, successful tyre can takes manymonths of testing, inspection, and quality checks by the

dedicated experts that make the Apollo team.

MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing starts with different materials: pigments, chemicals,

different kinds of rubber, cord fabrics, bead wire, and so on.

Mixing of basic rubbers with process oils, carbon black, pigments,

antioxidants, accelerators and other additives, each of which

contributes certain properties to the compound.

These ingredients are mixed in giant blenders called Banbury

machines operating under high heat and pressure.

MANUFACTURING CONTD..

Then the task of assembling the tyre begins.

Bronze-coated strands of steel wire, fashioned into two hoops, are

implanted into the sidewall of the tyres.

Tyres are cured at over 300 degrees for 12 to 25 minutes.

If anything is wrong with the tyre at this stage it is rejected.This is how all of the parts come together: the tread and sidewall,

supported by the body, and held to the wheel by the rubber-coated

steel bead.

long distance truck drivers in Delhi, Udaipur, Kanpur

and Ukkadam in Tamil Nadu.

In Oct 2004, Apollo introduced the Acelere range,

Indiasfirst

and only range of H-speed rated tubelessradials for passenger cars

ATL is an OEM supplier to vehicle manufacturers

such as Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti,

Ashok Leyland, TAFE, Eicher, Punjab Tractors and

others.
