Grand Knight’s
Report
Fellow Knights,
Hope you all had a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.
It is once again a busy time of the year. Between the
shopping, all the holiday bustle. The Knights are still
doing our charitable work in an unbelievable way.
Whenever we are needed, we are there. I know we are
about wearing Phil out, but he is hanging in there.
THANKS PHIL.
The Memorial Service was very nice. Thanks for the
great turnout. The food was great. Thanks to everyone
who brought a dish (the banana pudding was superb).
A Special Thanks to Father Baumann for a Special
Mass. And of course the widows of our Departed
Knights.
The Christmas Holiday Brunch is coming up. You can
pay at this upcoming meeting. We need a true count for
Monica at least a week before. This is our 1st Brunch
during the holiday season, let’s make this a success.
Merry Christmas & God Bless you all.

Dear Knights and Ladies,
December has arrived, and with it our prayerful celebration of Advent and Christmas. It is a month
with two themes: "preparation" and "reflection." We are reminded to prepare our hearts for the Lord's
coming – not only liturgically at Christmas, but also for us individually at the end of our days. In the
midst of great joy, our Knight's motto "Memento Mori" keeps us focused on the gift of time. We prepare
for the Lord's coming, not knowing the length of time that has been given to us. Those who are patients
of Hospice, for example, would remind us to "make each day count."
The subdued colors of the liturgical season suggest anticipation, much as the Blessed Mother an-
ticipated the birth of her son. And yet, with God there is always encouragement and hope, as the rose-
colored candle on the third Sunday will remind us.
Advent is a season of quiet joy, to which we add the second theme of "reflection." Yes, December
has arrived, and with it a new liturgical year – Cycle B for the Sunday readings, and Year 2 for the
weekday readings. A prayerful practice of reflection on the mass scriptures will provide insights and
direction for our lives. The Lord speaks to us through the scriptures in a special way, if we take the time
to present ourselves to Him. The prayerful reading of the Bible remains an indulgenced (partial) activity,
along with the prayer of the Holy Rosary. On Monday evening the 3rd, we will have a “living Rosary”
in the church, followed by a short concert of Marian music to which all are invited.
When we "reflect" upon another year of our lives, we might ask how we have grown in our faith
and in our relationships. Just as the infant Jesus grew to adulthood, so must our Faith. And with all
growth, there is self-discipline and commitment. How have we grown this past year? How will we grow
in the new liturgical year?
Here at Annunciation, we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady
on Saturday, December 8th, a Holy Day of Obligation. On Thursday, December 20th, we will offer our
two Advent Penance Services at 10:00 a.m. and at 7:00 p.m., in addition to our regular confessions at
3:00 on Saturday afternoons, and on Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 until 8:00 in the church chapel.
What better way to "prepare" for the Lord's coming and to reflect upon its meaning in our lives than with
the gift of a good sacramental confession?
Prayer, study, and reflection are traditional spiritual disciplines that yield abundant graces. As we prepare
for the Solemnity of Christmas, we should pray for a greater openness to the Holy Spirit, so that we can
say “Yes” enthusiastically to God's call. May the blessings of Advent and Christmas be yours in
abundance!

Brother Knights and Dear Friends,
Annual insurance Check-Up
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All! Looking for a gift that will keep on giving? This Christmas, give your family the gift of ‘peace of mind’, the security of knowing that their future is protected, whatever might happen to you. To get start-ed, we need to first determine your needs and a financial review is very appropriate. Such a review is the first step in getting that ‘peace of mind’ we all desire. And part of a financial review is an assets recap and insurance check-up. An insurance check-up can be as important as your annual physical. Unlike many other products, you don’t just need money to obtain life insurance, long-term care, or disability income insurance. You also need good health, and no one knows when your health could change, so don’t wait to do this review. Did you take time out of your schedule this past year to meet with me? If you did, thank you for seeing me and helping secure yours and your family’s financial future. As a follow-up, we will be sure to stay in touch and schedule your next annual review to verify that everything is heading in the right direction. We’ll make sure that if your goals and budget have changed, your plan still works for you. If you didn’t have a meeting with me this past year, I hope you will answer my invitation this coming year. It’s a wise idea to have an expert look at your finances. Schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, and I’ll provide an insurance check-up that will quickly identify any gaps in your family’s life insurance program. Do it now, in time for Christmas. Did I mention my check-up is free of charge? When was the last time you received something for free that could be providing val-ue to you and your family for generations? And I’ll come to your house when it fits your schedule. Ask your fellow Knights that have met with me, they will tell you it is time well spent. Yes, Advent, Christmas, and New Year’s is upon us and as they are signs of ‘new beginnings’ in our life, so is the opportunity to begin 2013 with the ‘peace of mind’ that your financial house is in order and the security of knowing your family’s future is protect-ed. Now that’s ‘peace of mind’ for the whole family. For life insurance, retirement products, long-term care coverage, and disability income protection, give me a call and we can set up
a meeting to discuss your needs and how you can expand or start your use of Knights of Columbus Insurance products – products
your family can depend on. Let’s talk today! Best Wishes Always and God Bless

Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the
troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this bur-
den. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore
your servants to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do,
you do for the love of us. Amen.

Brothers,
Arrangements have been made with the Panera Bread at the corner of Vagabond Drive and 434 to pick up their leftover food. We will have to pick the leftover food on Monday at 9 PM, with the intent of delivering it to the Christian Sharing Center located at 17/92 in Longwood the next morning no later than 9:15 AM. We need volunteers to commit to the pickup/delivery schedule. This project will start in early January. The objective would be to have several brothers committed to this effort, so that no one person will be overwhelmed by the effort. Please contact Keith Martin to coordinate your efforts. 407-462-9656
