1. Health Cochlear Implantation
Cochlear Implantation: In order to promote the noble cause of rehabilitating the poor children with
hearing impairment, Cochlear, an electronic medical device that replaces the function of the
damaged inner ear was implanted to three more children through ALIMCO in addition to the four
children done in last year. The surgery made them enable to hear speech at a nearly normal level.

Nethra Jyothi
A State of the Art Mobile Eye Clinic ‘NethraJyothi’ has been donated to ‘Visakha Eye Hospital
Trust’, Visakhapatnam. This Mobile Van equipped with latest technologies for diagnosing various
eye diseases, is being run by doctors of ‘Visakha Eye Hospital Trust’. This has been serving the
rural people of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. 125 eye camps were
organized through “Nethra Jyothi” mobile eye care van provided by RINL. 11700 beneficiaries
were screened and free, cataract surgeries have been performed to 437 beneficiaries, who are under
Below Poverty Line through this projectduring the year.
Eye camps were also organized by Visakha Steel General Hospital and performed free cataract
surgeries to 192 beneficiaries during the year.

Support to Spinal Cord Injured Patients
Provided wheel chairs, tricycles, adaptive devices to for 38 Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients and
Prosthetics, Orthotics, Spine braces, Callipers etc. for 22 amputees to enable them to lead a better life
by limiting their disability.
Support to Abondoned & Destitute Senior Citizens
Adopted 25 abandoned and destitute elderly persons for a period of one year. They are provided with
free shelter, food, medical facilities and homely care through Saint Hardayal Educational and Orphan
Welfare Society (SHEOWS).
Distribution of Sanitary Napkins, Dispensers and Incinerators in Aspirational District
RINL provided financial assistance for Sanitary Napkin dispensers, Incinerators, to 15 schools and
100000 Sanitary napkins for distribution in Nuh, an Aspirational District in Haryana.
Sanitary Napkin Dispenser and Incinerator to Visakha Vimala Vidyalaya
A Sanitary Napkin Dispenser and Incinerator was provided to Visakha Vimala Vidyalaya,
Ukkunagaram through Visteel Mahila Samithi an extended arm of RINL CSR.
Further, prosthetic leg was provided to a 13 year old girl belonging to a surrounding village, who had
lost it in an accident to enable her to regain normal movement and continue her education.

Wheel Chairs to District Administration to facilitate franchise by the Persons with Disabilities
RINL handed over financial assistance to the Visakhapatnam District Administration for procurement
of 200 wheel chairs and facilitated the persons with disabilities to exercise their franchise in the
General Elections.
Artificial Limbs to the Differently abled
Wheel chairs, calipers and other assistive devices were distributed to 86 disabled persons at a function
organized at Sri Guru Deva Charitable Trust, Magalampalem, Kotavalasa Mandal, Vizianagaram
District as a part of RINL’s CSR initiative.

2. Education Siksha
With a strong belief that education is a catalyst for social change, quality education is being provided
to around 1600 children belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families from the surrounding
villages of Plant & Mines. The project creates a tangible impact in the lives of the economically
disadvantaged since majority of the beneficiaries of this project are first generation learners.
Arunodaya Special School
Arunodaya Special School: A multi-category School/centre, caters to children with learning
impairment, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism, hearing loss and other learning disabilities.
The main objective of the school is to make these children learn to manage/behave themselves and
also to make them self dependent by sharpening their inherent talents.
RINL extends support to this school and free education including vocational training and therapy was
provided to around 100 differently abled children from the surrounding villages every year.

Chethana
Chethana is a six month Adult literacy programme, intended for providing basic education for adults
who have lost the opportunity and crossed the age of formal education. This program was taken up
at 25 centres located in surrounding villages of the plant, villages in Vizianagaram district and tribal
villages of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram Districts. The programme has benefited 625 adults.
Certificates were awarded to those who completed the course successfully.
Pathashala ki Aabharanam:
With a view to address the infrastructural deficit in the schools, RINL has Provided 280 three seater
dual desks to 6 Government Schools and further taken up project for providing 645 three seater dual
desks to 15 Government Schools to address the infrastructural deficit faced by the Schools.

Supporitng education in “Slum Areas” through Akshaya Vidya
Akshaya Vidya: RINL is supporitng quality education to the children belonging to slum areas in
Hyderabad and YSR Kadapa Districts. Regular classes are conducted for a duration of 2 hours.
Around 1200 students of 1st to 6th standard are benefitted from the classes. RINL is supporting 25
centres in the slum areas of Hyderabad and 15 centres in the slum areas of YSR Kadapa District. The
project intends to change their life by inculcating good values and self-image in the society.

Repair & Reniovation of Workshop Building at Govt. Polytechnic for Women:
The repair & renovation of workshop building at Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Bheemili,
Visakhapatnam was completed and the building was inaugurated by Shri Ganta Srinivasa Rao,
Hon’ble Minister for HRD, Govt. of AP. The 11000 sft building which was badly damaged earlier
in Hud-hud cyclone is restored to facilitate library, laboratories, workshops and class rooms.

Educational Infrastructure in govt. Schools near Foreged Wheel Plant, Raebareli:
School Infrastructure: RINL provided educational infrastructure viz. Dual Desk Benches, RO Plant,
electrical wiring of class rooms, fans, tube lights etc. to the Upper Primary School at Aihar Village
and Pradhamik Vidyalaya at Taudhakpur. They are surrounding villages of Forged Wheel Plant of
RINL at Raebareli.
Support to Visakhapatnam Public Library
RINL supported Visakhapatnam Public Library for creating additional space in the form of study hall,
separate section for career related material and current affairs, General Knowledge and a computer
section at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs.

3. Skill Development
Skill Development to Divyangjan
With a view empower the disabled to have better standards of living, RINL Provided Skill
developmwent ptoram for 100 Divyangjan (People with Disabilities) residing in the surrounding
villages of the Plant and other areas of Visakhapatnam in various Skills viz. Tailoring, Computer Data
Entry Operation, Beautician and Mobile Handset repair. The programme is aimed to benefit the
Divyangjan for their livelihood.

Saksham
‘Saksham’: To empower the unemployed youth with the skills for earning a decent livelihood,
Vocational training programmes in various trades viz., Arya Works, LMV driving, Cutting &
Tailoring, Blouse Designing and Beautician Course for 320 youth residing in the surrounding villages
of Plant, Mines and tribal villages of Visakhapatnam Dist. Certificates were awarded to those who
have successfully completed the training programme.

4. Environment Green Visakha
Green Visakha : Block plantation of 75000 saplings was taken up under Green Visakha project at
Gangavaram (30000) and Lemarthi (45000).
Contribution to ‘Clean Ganga Fund’
Contribution to ‘Clean Ganga Fund’: RINL has joined hands in the national Mission ‘Clean Ganga’
and contributed Rs.50 Lakhs to Clean Ganga Fund set up by the Govt. of India. (Rs.50 Lakhs)

5. Help during Natural Calamities Restoration Activities from Titli Cyclone
Extended support of Rs. 30 lakhs to the restoration activities in Srikakulam District which was badly
hit by the sever cyclone “Titli”. (Rs.30 Lakhs)
Providing stainless steel plates and tumbles to Kerala Flood affected people
RINL joined hands with SAIL, NMDC, MOIL & MSTC in providing 20000 sets of stainless steel
plates and tumblers to the residents of Palakkad District of Kerala who were affected by the severe
floods in the state. (Rs.4.95 Lakhs)

6. Women Empowerment
Manakosam CCTV Surveillance System
Installation of a Community CCTV Surveillance System in surrounding areas of Plant is taken up in
association with the Visakhapatnam City Police. This project will help in reduction of crime against
women and enhance their safety and security (Rs.84 Lakhs)

7. Rural Development Community Halls at Sitanagaram & Shajadpur
Community Halls: In order to bridge the infrastructure gap in the village a community halls were
constructed at Sitanagaram village in Anakapalle Mandal of Andhra Pradesh and Sahjadpur village
of UP. These halls will help the villagers in organizing Social functions, Skill Development
programmes and display public information that will enrich their lives.

Multi-Purpose hall at Jaggayyapeta: The major works related to construction of Multi-Purpose hall
at Jaggayyapeta have completed and finishing works are in progress. After completion of the works
the hall will be handed over to Jaggayyapeta Municipality for utilization. This will facilitate the
surrounding population with better access to function hall for conducting marriages, social events and
and other skill development programmes.

8. Sports Promoting Sports for Special Children
Sports for Special Children was organised every year aiming at boosting the confidence levels of the
Special children also to provide a platform for the children to showcase their talents. Various special
schools in Visakhapatnam Dist. & Vizianagaram Dist. participated in the meet. Around 275 Special
Children from 12 Special Schools in Visakhapatnam District and 2 Special Schools in Vizianagaram
District along with their teachers and supporting staff participated in the sports meet organized at
Col.CK Nayudu Stadium at Ukkunagaram under RINL-CSR. The event was organized with a view
to boost the confidence levels of Special children by providing them a platform to showcase their
talents.

9. Sanitation & Drinking Water Jaladhara - Supply of Potable Water through Gravity in Tribal Villages
Jaladhara: It is a flagship CSR project of RINL. The water from natural springs is captured at the
source, then through filteration tank, it is supplied to the hamlets through pipelines in gravity mode.
In addition to the 19 villages implemented earlier, four more villages of Araku Valley Mandal in
Visakhapatnam District have been selected and implemented the scheme benefitting around 620
residents of Dukkaguda, Dubbaguda, Nadimvalasa and Bonsuguda villages.

Supply of Drinking Water to Rehabilitation Colonies
To ensure access to pure drinking water during the summer
months to the residents of four Rehabilitation colonies of VSP
i.e. Agnampudi, Gangavaram, Pedagantyada & Vadlapudi, a
project to supply drinking water for a period of four months
was taken up. Every day 70,000 liters of drinking water was
supplied through tankers to the residents of RH colonies.
Installation of RO Water Plants in surrounding villages of Mines
RINL Installed RO plants in K.Agraharam village of
Jaggayyapeta and Madharam Village of Khammam
surrounding villages of RINL Mines. The plant was
inauguarated by GM(Mines) Shri Nagesh Gummalla and
handed over to the village authorities for further operation and
maintenance.
Installation of Water Purifiers with Chillers in Annavaram
To provide safe drinking water to the pilgrims and visitors, RINL provided financial assistance for
installation of 8 Water Purifiers with Chillers in the premises of Annavaram temple.

10. Swachh Bharat ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Campaign (15th September to 2nd October 2018)
RINL observed "Swachhta Hi Sewa" campaign from 15thSeptemebr to 2nd October 2018 in line with
the national campaign. CMD, Directors EDs, General Managers and HoDs of all departments led the
campaign in their respective departments and all the senior officers, employees and contract workers
of RINL participated in large number and adminstered Swachhta Pledge to mark the occasion. RINL
is moving in a focused way in the cleanliness drive to protect and save the environment by active and
voluntary participation of employees in the promotion of cleanliness.
RINL has taken up a fortnightlong Swachhta activities in the Plant, Township, Mines and Schools
etc, to implement the national programme initiated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. This
campaign helped immensely in ensuring good and clean working atmosphere in the plant and
surrounidng communities.

Swachh Bharat: 2301 Swachh Bharat activities were carried out by various departments of the plant
during FY 2018-19.

Safai Pakhwada (Fortnightly Cleanliness Drives in 2018-19)
Safai Pakhwada: As per the direction received from Hon’ble Steel Minister, Govt. of India, to
observe cleanliness fortnights (Safai Pakhwada) by all PSU’s under the control of Ministry of Steel,
‘Safai Pakhwada’ has been initiated at RINL since 1st August 2016. Safai Pakhwada’ were observed
in all the departments in a phased & sustained manner throughout the year Pakhwada Reports at the
end of each fortnight were prepared and forwarded to MoS.

Swachhta Pakhwada (15th to 31st March 2019)
Fortnight long Swachta drives “Swachhta Pakhwada” was observed from 15th to 31st March 2019
across the organization in various departments & Mines. The Pakhwada witnessed extensive
participation at all levels. During the fortnight, a plethora of activities like Swachhta Pledge,
Shramdaan in Plant and mining areas, awareness programmes for school children, observation of
‘Steel Safety Day’ on 28th March etc. were organised.

RINL is maintining an exclusive intranet portal
“Swachh Bharat @ RINL” where information on
various Swachhata activities being carried out in
the Plant and Communities is made available to all
employees for inspiration and promotion of
Swachhata activities.
The portal is a repository of various periodical
reports and media on Swachhta activities
showcasing exemplary contribution of various
departmnets towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Maintenance of Toilets under Swachh Vidyalaya
RINL provided financial assistance for Maintenance of 86 toilets constructed in 32 schools under
“Swachh Vidyalaya”. RINL provided Financial Assistance to Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan(SSA) for
maintenance of toilets in these schools. Frequents visits are made to schools to monitor maintenance
of toilets for better utilisation.

Bal Swachhta Jagruti – Creating Awareness to School Children
Bal Swachh Jagruthi 12 Awareness programmes on good hygiene practices through audio visual
medium were conducted to children in the schools situated in the surrounding areas of Plant & Mines
covering 4200 students.

Awareness on Zero Plastic in Township
Awareness sessions were conducted on plastic waste and its proper disposal to the Students in Schools
and the Residents in Ukkuagaram township. The program was organized in association with the Town
Administation Department.
Swachhta Puraskar – Awards to Best Performing Departments
Swachta Puraskar awards were instituted to instill competition in implementing Swachh Bharat
Mission in their departments and to encourage the innovative work during the Swachta campaigns.
These awards were presented to 12 Departments by CMD on 2nd October 2018 for their active
participation contribution towards Swachhata Mission at RINL.

11. Promoting Digital Society Creating Awareness on Digital Transactions
45 awareness sessions were conducted covering 1543 beneficiaries to promote Digital Transactions
at the sites where RINL CSR projects are under implementation namely Adult literacy programme,
Vocational Skill development programmes, eye camps & Roof sheeting works etc..
12. CSR Awards: Excellence in Contribution to Society through CSR
RINL has bagged the award for ‘Excellence in Contribution to Society through CSR’ in PSU category
instituted by Vizagpatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. District Collector Shri Praveen
Kumar, IAS, presented the award to RINL in the august presence of Shri Prabir Raychaudhury,
Director (Commercial), RINL.
