An INTRODUCTION toViking Mining Services

Dragline Thermography Inspection Service

Dragline Inspection Service

There are many areas of a dragline that can be inspected using thermography.

• Boom and mast cracks (air filled only).

• Lubrication & bearing faults in gearboxes and motors.

• Electric motor and MG set bearing and electrical faults.

• Slew bearing faults.

This service has and continues to saved Viking’s customers thousands by avoiding costly downtime.

Boom and Mast Cracks

This crack in the dragline boom (Ar1) was identified while the dragline was still operating.

Viking’s state of the art equipment allows us to take images like this from the light vehicle park up area.

Gearboxes and Drives

Once on board, we;

• Systematically take images of all gearboxes and bearings.

• Identify any urgent anomalies.

• Establish local temperature trends. By noting comparisons between like components.

We will alert you of any severe anomalies as soon as they are found, allowing you to action them immediately, saving Viking client’s thousands.

Drive Shafts and Couplings

Temperature variances in drive shafts and couplings can indicate misalignment or a breakdown of the dampening material contained within the coupling.

Viking are able to identify the problem, so that your technicians can repair it before it fails.

Electric Fan Motor Bearings

Fan motor bearings are often a problem, having unplanned failures.

In a small amount of time, Viking can identify which motors require closer monitoring and attention, or change out on your next down day.

MG Sets

Viking recommends regular checks on the MG set armature contacts to avoid flashovers.

Temperature differential allows us to identify problems that may be worsening due to abnormal wear.

This safe, simple, efficient manner of inspection can save you hours of unplanned downtime.

Trend Your Component Temperatures

The Viking Mining Services predictive maintenance program allows us to effectively identify potential issues before they become a real problem.

Let us do the work for you.

Establishing your customised VMS Predictive Maintenance Program will assist you greatly in reducing unplanned maintenance.
