Postdoctoral positionsNIH–funded positions in multi-disciplinary research, Hariadi Lab, Arizona State University

BIOmolecular Nanosystems with ever-Increasing Com-plexity & Size LABoratory (BIONICS LAB), also knownas Hariadi lab is eager to recruit 2 postdocs who areinterested in a multi-disciplinary approach to studyingnon-equilibrium organization of biomolecular systems.

We are an energetic lab supported by an NIH Director’sNew Innovator Award of $1.5M and other grants. Ourlab is part of a tightly-integrated research team at theBiodesign Institute and Center for Biological Physicsat ASU. We are recruiting postdoctoral candidates tolaunch our science to the next level!

We use multidisciplinary approach to dissect biophys-ical processes involved in disease pathogenesis, suchas (i) actin-myosin interactions, (ii) intracellular par-asite invasion (e.g., Toxoplasma), and (iii) viral infec-tions. These projects leverage our unique expertise inDNA origami nanotechnology, protein engineering, mi-croscopy, and single-molecule biophysics. The DNAorigami scaffolds simultaneously (i) arrange proteinsor viral particles at molecular resolution and (ii) induce, tune, and measure the tension across proteins of in-terest. If successful, these projects will provide moreevidence of mechanical forces as a fundamental fac-tor, alongside biochemical interactions and genetic in-formation, in controlling biological functions with impli-cations in science and medicine.

Your tasksSpecific research goals will be discussed with andagreed on by the Principal Investigator.1. Responsibilities of the postdoc position in bio-

physics include (i) taking a primary role in ongo-ing opticalmicroscopy development projects and (ii)leading and/or participating in projects on studyingprotein structures and functions under tension usingsingle-molecule FRET and cryo–EM.

2. Responsibilities of the postdoc position in molecu-lar biology or protein biochemistry include (i) lead-ing projects on structural and functional study ofmechanosensitve proteins under tension and (ii)leading and/or participating in projects on recombi-nant proteins expression.

The postdoc will have intellectual freedom to developnew projects and new collaborations according to theirresearch interests.

Your profile1. Have expertise in at least one of these areas:

(i) DNA nanotechnology, (ii) super-resolution mi-croscopy, (iii) molecular biology (e.g., cytoskeleton),(iv) cryo electron microscopy, and (v) virology.

2. Have a Ph.D. or nearing completion of a Ph.D. inPhysics, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Biomedical En-gineering, Biochemisty, or related topics.

3. Some computational/analytical skill would be a dis-tinct advantage.

ASU is an equal opportunity/affirmative action em-ployer. https://research.asu.edu/about-us/jobs

How to applyInterested candidates should e-mail Rizal Hariadi atrhariadi@asu.edu with the following:1. (Optional) Brief statement of research interest.2. CV or NIH Biosketch.3. Two or more references (contact information only).4. (Optional) Miscellaneous documents.

Online interviews will be arranged soon after receiv-ing applications but the positions will remain open untilfilled.
