6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution
Vision – It has been a constant endeavour of the college to maintain qualitative growth of students
along with quantitative one. It is dedicated to realize its motto – “Dooritache Timir Jawo” (May the
darkness of disability, misdeeds, corruption, wickedness and ignorance in the society be eradicated.)
In order to achieve this vision, the college has set forth the following mission and objectives.

Yes, D.R. Mane Mahavidyalaya, Kagal has a comprehensive software system to encompass all aspects of
the academic and administrative function. A brief discussion of its usages with respect to the above
points is given below.
a) Student Admission : a state-of-the-art admissions module enables preparing General Register,
Generation of Roll Call list of all the classes, list of girls students, list of students as per
reservation category, list of students according to percentage of marks, list of admission of
students per village etc.
b) Administrative procedures including finance : Admission module provides information regarding
collection of fees under different heads, issue of bonafide and transfer certificate etc.
Management of fee collection is possible through this module.
c) Examination and Evaluation procedure : the entire gamut of activities from registration to results
and other data captured and maintain. The evaluation of papers of B.A., B. Com. and B.C.A. I

6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:
6.3.1 Curriculum Development
The curriculum is prescribed by the Shivaji University. The same is followed by the
college. 21 faculty members actively participated in syllabus revision workshops.
6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
There is a committee called Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Committee (TLE).
Various interactive and collaborative techniques are used to ensure effective
understanding of syllabus to the students. Equal importance is given to classroom
teaching and out of class teaching. IQAC and heads of departments collect the
feedback about the teaching learning process from various stakeholders. Analysis of
this feedback is used to improve the teaching learning process.
The activities conducted in previous years were successfully continued this year too.

The Centralised Assessment of Evaluation of Papers is conducted for the First year of
B.A, B.Com., B.Sc and BCA.

There is a Research Promotion Cell in the College.
The faculty members are encouraged to carry out research work.
The College grants study leave or duty leave and deputes the teachers for
National/International Conferences / Seminars / Workshops. They are encouraged to
present research papers in conference and seminars. This year nine faculty members
attended the conferences.
The faculty members are encouraged to publish research articles in National /
International journals. This year nine papers were published.
6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation
The college has provided all infrastructures which in turn provides best physical
ambience for the faculty in terms of adequate library, ICT, Computing and allied
services.
In the Library committee meeting, each department is allotted with certain amount for
purchase of books and the departmental heads recommend for purchase of text books and
reference books to the library.
Separate provision of computers is made for the students and the staff in the library, for
use of computers and internet facility.
The facilities are strengthened for ICT based teaching and learning.
Science labs are strengthened with the necessary equipments.

1. Title of the Pracitce - "Vachankatta"
The movement for development of reading habits amongst the students.
2. Objectives
Vachankatta movement was initiated with following objectives.
1. To develop reading habits amongst the students.
2. To acquaint the students with different forms of literature.
3. To develop the habits of group discussion and presentation of their views before the students
4. Collaborations with the Libraries in the Kagal City.
5. To organize talks of eminent authors and personalities for the purpose.
6. To organize the vachnkatta activities along with the community in the Kagal in the form of
extension activities of the college
7. To help the students for overall development of personality.
3. The Context
Reading different types of books other than the routine text books for study is very important for the
college students. Due to computers, internet and the use of mobile, it is observed that the college
students are away from the reading activity. The challenge lies in initiating them for the reading activity.
4. The Practice
Dr. Neela Joshi, Head, Department of Marathi in the college took initiative in this activity. The college
entered into collaboration with the Vachankatta Movement in the Kolhapur led by Shri Yuvraj Kadam.
The college decided to start this activity in collaboration with the two libraries and the literature lovers
in the Kagal. College thought to make it an outreach activity of the college. Accordingly, the college
made tie-up with Mahatma Gandhi vachnalaya, Kagal and Shahu Nagarparishad Vachnalaya Kagal.
First Saturday of each month is allotted for the Vachankatta Activity, either at college or anywhere in
the Kagal.
The students are asked to read a book suggested by Vachankatta Committee, and present his views and
opinion about the book before the students. Students read the suggested book and give presentation
during the monthly activity of Vachankatta.

5. Evidence of Success
1. June 2017 – The activity was organized at the Shahu auditorium of Kagal Nagar Parishad. The
well-known author Shri. Jaradhan Pakhare and Shri. Krantikumar Kamble delivered talk on ‘My
favourite Book’.
2. On 1st July 2017 – There was a discussion on a book ‘Ek Hota Karver’ written by Vina Gavankar,
participated by the students of the college.
3. On 12th August 2017 – The talk of Shri. Vivek Agavane – District Food Supply Officer- was
organized on the topic ‘Importance of Reading Culture’.
4. 5th August-2017 – The discussion was held on the book written by IPS Officer Shri. Vishwas
Nangre-Patil named ‘Man Main Hain Vishwas’. The members of Vachankatta and the students
of the college participated in the activity.
5. 9th September 2017 – The discussion was on the book of ‘Who Moved My Cheese’ written by
Dr. Spensor Johnson. The members of Vachankatta and the students of the college participated
in the activity.
6. 13th October 2017 – The discussion on the book written by Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalaam. The

7. 25th November 2017 – The discussion was held on the book written by Shri. Sane Guruji named

8. 9th December 2017 – The discussion was held on the book written by Krushna Agnihotri named

9. Government of Maharashtra has declared Jan-1 to Jan-15 as ‘Marathi Language Cultivation’
during this period various activities are undertaken by the Vachankatta. The function of reading
poetry was held in which students read poems. Prof. Eknath Patil, a well-known Marathi Poet
delivered a lecture on ‘Process of making Poems’.
10. 27th Feb. 2018 – The department of Marathi and Vachankatta organized a joint activity namely
‘Marathi Language Gourav Din’. On the occasion the former Principal Dr. G.P. Mali delivered a
talk.
11. 9th March 2018 - The discussion was held on the book written by Mukta Chaitanya named -
'Strugglers' on delivered a lecture by Prof. Sandip Wadikar. The members of vachankatta and

6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
The problem arises for continuance of the activity every month and to sustain enthusiasm
of the students. The problem arises as to the participation of other co-partners like Mahatma Gandhi
Vachanalay and Shahu Nagar Parishad Vachanalaya.
Physical resources required for the activity is an auditorium and there is one good
auditorium at college. If necessary the Kagal Nagar Parishad always ready to provide auditorium of
Shahu Nagar Vachanalaya, Kagal. So there is no problem encountered for the activity.

The paradigmatic changes brought in by globalization consistently demand development of various
skills on the part of the students. In campus placements the performance of the students was very
low owing to their poor employability. It was needed to train them in respect of interview
techniques numeral ability and communications.

In consultation with the placements officers of the employers, the faculty designs the (cause) syllabi
for various short term certificated courses. In doing this they take help of external
academicians/experts. Some courses are designed on department level while some are run

The college is in the vicinity of the University and Two MIDC's.
Sizable student feeding from rural area more scope for extension activity and social service.
The Principal and the faculty have a good contact and relations with the elite people.
A large number of Girls Students.
Location of Taluka Place; easy access to different government departments.
A strong unit of NCC with a high profile and potential of recruitment and a bag-piper band is
one of the strengths of the college.
A strong reputed and active unit of Vivek Vahini is one of the strengths of the college.
A beautiful and Clean Campus.
Weakness:
Students for rural background with poor academic background.
Lack of motivation, consistency and continuity in the implementation of the tasks and practices.
Need of advanced technology in teaching.
Work for well organized placement facility.
Temporary faculty due to government limitations.

Two MIDS's - Five Star MIDC & Gokul Shirgaon MIDC in the vicinity of the college can provide

Challenges:
ON the background of the Government ban on new appointments senior faculty members are
getting retired one by one.
It is a great challenge to motivate traditionally self complacent staff towards changes and
innovations required for quality education.
To maintain the all round performance of the college.
To maintain safety and security of students due to changing social political issues pressure.
8. Plans of institution for next year
1. Construction of new laboratories for the for BSC III special subjects as new department
labs- Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Mathematics with necessary lab equipments.
2. Installation of CCTV cameras at 3rd floor—new BSC unit.
3. Restructuring of some of the classrooms.
4. Development of infrastructure for new Computer laboratory.
5. Installation of new Public address system at conference hall.
6. Development of infrastructure as Cafeteria for students especially leisure place for
students.
7. Registration of Alumni association under necessary Act.
8. Strengthening Examination department by purchasing new equipments.
9. Construction of infrastructure as a permanent stage to be used for different activities in
the premises.
