PREFACE

Sangola Taluka Shetkari Shikshan Prasarak Mandal runs the Vidnyan

Mahavidyalaya, Sangola from Sept. 1991. The College was commenced with 78

students of the Science faculty. In 1993, Arts faculty was also started. The college

started new faculty B.C.S from academic year 2006-07. Since last 18 years the

strength of College is increasing per year and in academic year (2009-10) it was

reached to 1520.

Six special subjects from Arts faculty and six special subjects from Science

faculty up to graduate level are in full swing. There is facility provided to complete

Post Graduation in English and Computer Science subjects.

NAAC Peer Team visited the college in the month of July 2004 and accredited

the college with ‘B’ grade. As per NAAC guidelines we have great pleasure to submit

AQAR of year 2009-2010 which will give brief idea of academic, cultural, social,

extension and some other activities running in college.

PART-A

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the

academic year 2009-2010 towards quality enhancement.

The IQAC planned and discussed on following points.

Curriculum Aspects:

The teachers from Board of Study and members of subcommittee of

syllabi making consider the opinions of students while framing the new

syllabi, and avoid the outdated and abnormalities from the syllabi if any. It is

planned to start some add-on courses like Beauty Parlour, Fruit preservation.

Also trace should be given on applied and job oriented syllabi. Framed syllabi

should be covered within stipulated time, which should be checked by

principal.

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation:

The procedure of introducing the course, lessons/ teaching plan/

Examination pattern/ Evaluation methods by faculty to students should be

continued at the beginning of Academic term. The syllabi should be made

available to the students. The feedback from students should be collected at

the end of term, which would be analyzed and consider the proper suggestions.

The provision should be made for the advance learner and poor learner. It is

planned to use modern teaching aids in teaching, learning and evaluation.

The faculty should be relieved to participate in Seminars/ Workshops/

Refresher courses etc.

Research Consultancy and Extension:

Suggested to promote the teachers for further research and register for

Ph. D. The researches should be allowed to participate in Research paper/

poster presentation. It is decided to submit the minor research projects to UGC

if the college gets recognition under 12 (B).

Infrastructure & Learning Resources:

To continue the pure drinking water facility, an emergency medical

facility, play ground and sports facility to the students as a basic requirement

and also leisure time facility.

To fulfill the increasing need of infrastructure and other facilities it is

decided to construct the required infrastructure and purchase the materials for

practical work and also purchase the modern teaching aids.

Student Support and Progression:

Distribute immediately the Scholarship from Government for ST, SC,

OBC and related students. Provide the facility of S. T. passes to outside

students. To organize the alumni meet to get the suggestion and help from

them. Strengthen the student’s career and guidance cell. The important

instructions related to students should be displayed on notice board. Arrange

campus interview, and pay attention on student’s problem individually.

Organisation and Management:

Some members from management are the members of IQAC; they

consider the increasing demands, fulfillment of infrastructure, academic and

financial discipline of the institute. It is planned to construct new 8

classrooms, ladies toilet, compound wall, parking shed, also decided to

purchase a land for construction of women’s hostel in future.

Library:

To increase the number of books and other library facility to students

and staff to cope increasing number of students and changed syllabi of various

subject.

Culture, Sports, NCC and NSS:

To promote the students to participate in Youth-Festival a cultural

program, different sports competition at zone, university and inter university

level, NCC and NSS camp programs.

New Courses:

To submit proposals to university and government regarding new courses as a

natural growth i.e. M. Sc. II (Computer science) and NCC for B. A. Part- I.

Outcome/ Task completed in 2009 – 10

As per the planning of the IQAC formed and as per the guideline of NAAC

and efforts of Principal, teachers and administrative staff we achieved following

outcome (task completed) in year 2009 – 10.

Curriculum Aspects:

Some of teachers actively participated in syllabus framing. The syllabi

were completed in stipulated time. Principal checked through heads of

department time to time whether the syllabi was being completed satisfactorily

or not.

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation:

All teachers introduced the course, lessons/ teaching plan/ Examination

pattern/ Evaluation methods to students at the beginning of Academic term.

The syllabi were made available to the students. The feedbacks from students

were collected at the end of term by committee, which were analyzed by

principal and considered the valuable suggestions. The books and educational

facility was supplied to advance learner and poor learner. The modern

teaching aids like OHP, Multimedia, and Internet are in use.

The 13 teachers were send to Refresher/ Workshop/ Seminars etc., as

per planned in IQAC Cell.

Unfortunately we couldn’t got a recognition from UGC under 12 (B),

so couldn’t submit the research project to UGC. However some of faculties

are engaged in Ph. D. research activities.

Extension Activity: Botany and zoology departments are engaged with

extending the extension activity like plant identification, garden planning, and

blood group identification etc..

Infrastructure & Learning Resources:

Pure drinking water, toilets, canteen, parking, play ground and sports

facilities were made available to the students as fundamental requirements. To

get an emergency medical facility the institution has made agreement with

nearby Hospital.

The construction of the required infrastructure was done worth `

8,19,538/-.

Student Support and Progression:

The scholarships by government were distributed immediately to the

students of NT, SC, ST, OBC and minority students. As well as Institution is

providing the facility of S. T. passes to outside students. B. Sc. Passed out

students were contacted personally informing that to contact and attend Force

Motor Ltd. Comp. for the campus interview at Solapur.

The notices concerned to students were always displaced on the notice

board.

Organization and Management:

Some members from management who are the members of IQAC, they

bought the increasing demands, fulfillment of infrastructure, academic and

financial discipline of the management, so institute got new required

infrastructure. Beside this Institute’s and Management’s financial audit was

get completed within time.

Library:

To cope with the increasing demands of students and faculty, the

institute purchased the new books and other library facility. According to

changed syllabi of various subject the new number of Reference Books,

Textbooks, Journals, Periodicals, Novels, Plays etc. were purchased of worth

Rs. 1,21,267/-.

Culture, Sports, NCC and NSS:

The students participated in a various cultural competition like –Youth

Festival and got prizes for that. Many students were played in various sports

competitions at University, Interuniversity level and represented the college at

National level

33 NCC cadets appeared for ‘B’ certificate and 07 students achieved

‘C’ Certificate in the examination. The Polio and blood donation camp was

organized by the NCC cadets. Two NCC cadets participated in NIC camp at

Mysore. In Jan 2009 five cadets were participated in Army Camp which was

held at Ahmednagar. The college and NCC Unit had organized Battalion level

ATC training camp of 500 cadets for 12 days.

The special camp of NSS was organized at Solapur University campus

by university itself. During the camp 100 students (65 boys & 35 girls) were

participated. They dug out a huge trench of 200 meter for plantation of trees in

University campus area and to protect the soil erosion from rain and flood

water. Also they displayed the street play on Farmer’s Suicide, the burning

problem of Maharashtra’s farmer. Presented mime on AIDS and

Environmental awareness.

New Courses:

As planned new class of B. C. A. –III, M. Sc. -I (Computer Science)

were started in Academic year 2009-10.

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution.

� Goals:

1. To impart education of high quality.

2. To broaden the view of higher education.

3. To strengthen knowledge based development.

4. Inclusive growth for socio-economic changes and

sustainable development.

Aims and Objectives of the Institution

� To open the schools & colleges in order to give primary, secondary, higher

secondary, vocational, technical education and also higher and professional

education to the students, especially from the rural area.

� To open the Montessories, Laboratories, Technical training centers, Libraries

and hostels for boys and girls, in order to help them to complete education,

upbringing them in the main stream of society and to create an interest and

awareness about education.

� To provide scholarship & other facilities in order to develop all round

personality of students and to develop their mental, physical health and

economic status. To create a sense of patriotism, social responsibility and

environment among students.

� To give the guidance & information to students and people from rural area by

the experts from academic, social, political, cultural, agriculture and economic

fields.

� To create volunteers and social workers and to train them in order to develop

the rural area in all fields.

� This institution does not believe in any caste, religion and discrimination. All

students from any caste are admitted in the college; especially students from

reserve category are admitted with priority.

� This is non-political institution.

� The Sangola is situated in remote and drought-prone area of Solapur district,

in Maharashtra. Up to 1991, there was no Institution in existence providing the

education of science faculty. So most of the students could complete their

graduation through Art faculty only. Especially for ladies students this

difficulty was more severing. So the society was demanding to open the

college with Science faculty. By considering the society’s demand and

student’s willingness, Sangola Taluka Shetkari Shikshan Prasarak Mandal

opened the college named; ‘Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya Sangola’ in 1991,

providing the education of science faculty. After 2 years that is from the

academic year 1993, Arts faculty has also started. Now the college is

providing the quality education to the pupils in

The college started with 78 students in 1991 and this year the strength was

1520. This increase in the strength shows that we are approaching towards goals

and objectives of the institution.

3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction:

� The faculty contributed in syllabi framing as per UGC guidelines. Framed

� For better transaction the faculty provides the study material and teaching aids

to the learners.

� Prof. Suryavanshi R. S. and Prof. Mrs. Gaikwad S. A. have written the

practical book based on UGC’s new syllabus for B. Sc. I class.

4. Inter-disciplinary programs started:

� The University syllabi have already Inter-disciplinary subjects for B.A.-II.

Environment science has been introduced as compulsory Inter-disciplinary

subject at part III class for Science.

5. Examination reforms implemented:

� The college is affiliated to the Solapur University and follows the Examination

pattern and evaluation schemes designed by the University. Beside this the

college arrange Terminal Examination of University pattern for every class.

Each department conduct the tests.

� College conducted examination for B. Sc. Part I, and B. A. Part III students

after completion of syllabi.

6. Candidates qualified: NET/SLET/GATE etc.:

� The college is not having PG courses (except English, Computer science), so

candidates could not eligible to attempt NET/SLET/GATE etc. Some passed

out students are qualified the NET/SLET examinations after completion of

their PG from other Institutes.

� The student’s feedbacks on faculty were taken in questionnaire supplied by the

college, which later on analyzed by the principal, the proper suggestion were

made to the faculty.

intervals the Principal and senior faculty members visits every class for

28. Computer and Internet access and training to teachers and students:

� In computer department there are five advanced computer laboratories with

internet facility and other departments like Physics, Statistics, Mathematics,

Geography, Chemistry and Botany has separate computers. In Computer dept.

there are 100 computers of advanced configuration with LAN and broad band

Internet connectivity. This facility was made available for teachers and

students. Internet facility for teachers was made available between 3:00 pm to

4:00 pm, which is free. The students can obtain B.Sc. (ECS) degree in

computer science, Bachelor in Computer Application (B.C.A). In all computer

Laboratories back-up about 30KV from UPS with 40 batteries are available.

36. Activities of the Guidance & Counseling Unit:

� Respective faculty members helped the students regarding their academic

difficulties like Nature of question papers and representation in Answer book

of University examinations. Students were guided about recruitment in various

fields by Experts. The opportunity of campus interview was made available

with Cummins India Ltd and Commins in India to the students, in which 20

students were, get benefitted. The students were counselled for participate in

� The president of Institute Mr. Ganapatro Deshmukh, his birthday was

celebrated as a Shramik (l{_H$) Day. On that occasion various cultural and

sports competitions were organized, viz. Mini Marathon, Blood donation,

Dance competition, Elocution, Rangoli etc.

� The college has its own Academic Calendar, according which the curricular

and extracurricular activities were completed.

� College publishes Bharari (^amar) hand writings of students containing

literature on various aspects, and made available in Library.

� Botany department of college had a botanical garden, rockery and shed house

having number of species pertaining from syllabus.

Part- C

Detail the Plan of the institution for next year (2010-2011):

Formation of the Research committee to promote and monitor the research

work. Till the recognition of 12 (B) the monitory help for research as 7000/- for

departmental minor research project and 20,000/- for Ph. D. research work. Teaching

and learning process will be carried out as per schedule. Learning of the students will

take place through classroom lectures, practical & the functions (activities) arranged

related to occasions. Learning process of teachers should be equally important, so

they would be deputed to attend seminars, workshops, orientation & refresher courses

& also various meetings organized by university authorities. Evaluation of the

students will be carried out through seminars, unit tests, examinations etc. To

organize the number of competitions such as essay writing, poetry recital, elocutions,

debating, cultural competitions, sports competitions etc. are the different tasks

through which students will be evaluated. Besides these activities, co-curricular

activities will be performed as per plan given below.

1. Preparation of RAR and submit to NAAC, Bangalore.

2. Purchase of Computer and Printers for preparation of RAR.

3. Construction of required new Infrastructure.

4. Monitory help for research and extension activity.

5. To start English Language laboratory.

6. Construction of Urinal, Toilet and Bathrooms for women.

7. To provide broadband internet facility to every science department.

8. To apply for subscription of INFLIBNET facility.

9. Purchase of more DLPs as modern teaching aids.
