Criterion – VII - 7. Innovations and Best Practices
7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year which have created a positive impact on the
functioning of the institution. Give details.
7.2 Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided upon at the
beginning of the year
- Maximum student oriented activities were conducted throughout the year for the overall
development of the students. College had introduced following innovations during this
academic year –
- The result of NAAC re-accreditation was very positive on the staff. Our Management
encouraged all the teachers for Ph.D. registration and now entire staff is registered for Ph.D.
- Sports and Cultural activities: Students are encouraged to participate in indoor and
outdoor games. Our students achieved great success at university, West-Zone and National
level in Sports and Cultural activities.
- Most of the teaching (70%) is being done on LCD and regular “Film Screening” of English
and regional plays which have introduced for the syllabus. It has mad positive impact on the
attendance of student
- TCS‟ – „Emploaybility Enhancement Programme‟ (Two Batches of 60+60=120) from
which student learnt „English Communication Skill, Basic Numercy-Arithmatic, Computer
Skills, Soft-skills and corporate etiquettes‟. It was 100 hrs rigorous training programme.
After the completion of this course 100 Marks test was conducted by the TCS and passed
students were offered jobs in any company run by TATA GROUP.
- Candle-Making, Enevelope Design, Jardoji, Wooden Craft-making and Baby Toy‟s Making
workshop was conducted in collaboration with Kamini Gandhi Sanstha, local NGO, around
150 students were benefitted from this course. Our student actively participated in this
course.
- Earn While Learn Scheme – It was really an innovation of our college that Students of
„Basic Tailoring Course‟ stitched the uniforms of all college girls in a very minimum price
with transaparency. „Uniform Committe‟ of the college executed this work very properly.
- Extension Activities – NSS Unit of the college conducted “1 Day Self-Defence Workshop
named ‘Srujan-the Grooming Programme” in which Dr. Kiran Sarada spoke about
„Functioning of Female Body and Diet”, Adv. Sarika Tamshetti spoke about „Women related
Laws‟ and Mrs. Sangita Jadhav trained 300 girls how to save ourselves from an alien attack
using small weapons and Karate. It helped a lot to build „Self-Confidence‟ of our girls.
At the beginning of academic year in June, Academic calendar and Annual Teachng Plan
is prepared for every department and committees are formed. All activities are conducted
as per the year plan with flexibility. At the end of every month review meeting is held and
discussed about the execution of activities. Every Committee conducts meeting to
implement all activities successfully. Proper planning is made to conduct all the planned
activities.

7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution (please see the format in the NAAC Self-study Manuals)
Best Practice : I
“Employability Enhancement Programme”
in collaboration with
Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai
Goals -
The goals of this project are -
1. To develop over all personality of students
2. To enhance English communication skills.
3. To enable the students to participate in competitive examination.
4. To develop the skills of interview technique and group discussion.
5. To make available job oppourtunities for alumni students.
6. To place them in any company of Tata Group.
7. To nurture soft skills and corporate etiquettes.
The Context –
Maximum girls of our college are from under-priveleged strata of the society,
financially they are very weak. They have inferior complex about themselves so they lack courage
to face today‟s competitive circumstances. Their English communication is very primary,
personality is not properly developed, they lack soft skills, group discussion, interview technique,
general knowledge. As company has taken this inititive only for Arts and Commerce students to
encourage them in corporate sector. This course prepares them for Govt. and Private sector jobs.
So, we have conducted two batches of this course in the last academic year and planning to
continue it.
The Practice –
Basically, this course is a bunch of 100 hours compact training programme where
maximum 60 students can be admitted. Both faculty students are allowed. Initially, interested
students were called on those who could ready to attend rigourously. The syllabus was framed by
the experts of the TCS in which 50hrs cover communication skill (audio-video clips, GD, story-
telling, interview techniques and soft skills etc.), 25 hrs for Basic numeracy and arithmetic and 25
hrs for computer skills. Expert and Trainers are provided from TCS with remuneration(lodging
and boarding). This course is free of cost for these girls. After the successful completion of this
course, TCS would conduct 1 hr test under the supervision of their experts and oral test was
conducted at last. If students were qualify, they would be selected for the jobs.
Responsibility of the college is to select the student and provide one classroom with
LCD projector and computer lab. Timing of the course was from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm in Diwali
Vacation and in last summer vacation. Two successful batches have been trained.
Evidence of Success –
There is an immence change can be seen in the written and oral skill of the students.
It helped to build up their confidence and their personality was properly shaped. They had learnt
soft-skills. It helped them even to work in the local area and they became familiar with computer
skills and corporate etiquettes.
Problems Encountered – Actually, it was our initial effort, most of the girls are from very typical
background and unfortunately only two girls were successfully cleared the final stage but because
of their marriage they were unable to benefit this opportunity.
LBP Mahavidyalaya, Solapur AQAR-2013-14 Page 26
Best Practice : II
“Disha Project”
in collaboration with
Karmveer Vidya Prabodhini, Satara.
Goals -
The goals of this project are -
1. To encourage student for competitive exams and develop over all personality.
2. To make familiar with state and central services.
3. To prepare them for Banking and local board examination.
4. To develop the skills of interview technique and group discussion.
5. To improve their numerical aptitude and mental ability.
6. To enhance their computer skills and electronic communication.
7. To prepare them for MPSC and UPSC examinations.
The Context –
It has been observed that our student are in harsh need of jobs and ready to take efforts.
Students of Arts and Commerce faculty have enough opportunities in such competitive
examiniation. We‟ve officially signed MoU with TIME institute which provides core guidance fo
IBPS. So in Disha Porject students are admitted though an entrance exam. and by merit 60 students
are admitted. Systamatic efforts can be taken with proper time table displaying the schedule in
advance. Sometime, guest lectures are organized and successful students in MPSC and UPSC are
invited to deliver lecture. The syllabus, reference books, separate seating arrangement in library
and special attention is given to these students. Simultaneously, student prepare for other exams.
The Practice –
The structure of this course is fixed by Karmveer Vidya Prabodhini, Satara. The
duration of Disha project is three years. The first year students of arts and commerce faculty take
admission for this project. KarmaveerVidyaprabodhini has designed the syllabus and the project is
held with the help of senior college teachers from both faculties. Teachers take special efforts
without any remuneration besides the regular work. The periods are conducted as per the time-table.
Disha project has its own shelf in library which has 70 different reference books, 30
CDs and some important notes. We are providing free access Internet to these students. We
conduct 02 general tests during the year for the students of disha project. In 2013-2014 total 60
students were admitted to Disha Project. All national newspapers and magazines are made
available for them.
Evidence of Success –
We‟ve observed good change among students. It helped them to crack police constable
exam, clerical exam, postal and ZP exam. Two of our students joined as PSI (Police Sub Inspector)
last year. In college test their score is good. It helped them even to work in the local area and they
became familiar with computer skills.
Problems Encountered – Most of the girls are from very rural and slum area of the town.
Sufficient time is not devoted by the students as their academic syllabus and competitive syllabus is
heavy for them. Professional teachers and experts are not available in place like Solapur.
