Module Guide
Course Overview (ICT) The module is designed to facilitate personal learning in Technology Enhanced Learning and to encourage student teachers to take a lead in innovation in ICT. The teaching on this course will be workshop based with the majority of sessions taking place in the computer lab. Topics for reading and research will be suggested in your classes and students will be expected to show evidence of reading in assignments. Throughout this course students will also be expected to participate in visits to educational settings. Course Content The course will include sessions on:
An introduction to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) The Technology Enhanced Teacher - Developing a Personal
Learning Network A learning blog (creating, embedding, sharing) Incorporating TEL tools in your classroom Photoshop LNI (Update) Research Methods Leadership in a time of change Presentations from teachers involved in leading change in TEL
Assessment Words Weight Submission date Essay 1 1000 30% 13 Dec Essay 2 2000 70% 7 May Essay 1: Explain what a personal learning network is and, drawing examples from your own learning journey in this module, comment upon the educational value of personal learning networks. Essay 2: Choose from one of the following titles:
a. Choose one example of Technology Enhanced Learning exemplified during this module and, using a case study approach, explore the opportunities and challenges for the teachers and schools involved.
b. Using a comparative case study approach comment upon the qualities and skills needed for leadership in Technology Enhanced Learning in an educational environment.
