Greetings from your LTG
Hey key Clubbers!
I hope finals and the last few days of school are
going well. Another school year and Key Club year
is over, to the graduating seniors, goodbye and
good luck in whatever you are set out to become!
Remember you are always welcome back to the
Key Club family events. And for everyone don’t
forget service doesn’t stop just because schools
over. Serving in the sun is one of the best ways to
serve! Looking at all the schools in division 28 and
how much service they have done, has made me
realize how impactful our clubs truly can be. This
last year especially from food banks to tutoring
division 28 has done so much good for the
community. I feel a burst of joy when I see how
many service hours everyone has put forth this last
year; you amaze me with your dedication and
compassion. You all inspire me with your
commitment to changing the world, and your
mindset to help others before yourself. One thing is
for sure Key Clubbers have a different mindset
from everyone else, and every time I visit I see that,
your optimism, your love, and how inclusive you all
are, you guys shine bright like diamond. I love you
all!
In Love and Service

MAY DCM UPDATE!
Meeting New People
The May Divisional Council Meeting was
a joint event with divisions
26/27/28/32/33. Branching from Federal
Way to West Seattle to Kirkland, Key
Clubbers from all over the Pacific North
West District came together for an event
like no other, a picnic day! With more
food than imaginable, and all the
Icebreakers Key Clubbers love to do, it
was defiantly a good time for me, and I
hope all of those who went thought the
same. There were sports games and
divisional mingling, hanging with old
friends and meeting new ones, if you
missed this one don’t worry, the DCMs
are monthly, and there will be more
joint DCMs to come.
Miracle Minute
For those who don’t know what a
Miracle Minute is, it’s quite easy, raise
as much money from group of people in
60 seconds. We hosted one at the May
DCM and raised $350! Thank you to all
who donated to the miracle minute,
which went to the Eliminate Project.
Even though I got pied in the face and
thrown into a freezing cold lake as
reward for reaching our goal, I was more
than happy to smell of Lake and Whip
Cream. The $350 we made at the DCM
affected roughly 195 Mothers and all of
her future babies from contracting MNT,
Maternal Neonatal Tetanus, and to all of
those who donated; you saved and
touched many lives. Thank You.

Can MNT be stopped?
Yes! MNT is highly preventable. Just three doses
of a 60-cent immunization protect mothers, who
then pass on the immunity to their future babies.
Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF can stop this
disease.
This year’s District Project is….ELIMINATING MNT!
What is MNT?
In 30 countries around the world, maternal and
neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy
of childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby
every nine minutes. Its effects are excruciating —
tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful
convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and
touch. There is little hope of survival. And tetanus
kills mothers too.
Who suffers from MNT?
MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil
everywhere, come into contact with open cuts
during childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest
of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and
those without health care.
Why hasn't MNT been eliminated
already?
UNICEF has helped to successfully eliminate MNT
in many countries. But in 30 countries in Africa,
Asia, Europe and North America, it still strikes
babies and mothers who have little or no access
to health care — either because they are poor,
live in remote areas or are caught in humanitarian
emergencies. More funds and resources are
needed to reach all babies and mothers at risk.
What had Division 28 Done?
Division 28 so far has hosted a DCM miracle minute,
raising $350 between divisions 26/27/28/32/33 we are
off to a great start!

Shout Out!
Here is a shout to INTERLAKE HIGH SCHOOL for hosting a
Miracle Minute at their last meeting, with all the money going
toward The Eliminate Project! Raising $73 they saved 41 of
Mothers future children from contracting MNT. I’m so proud of
you guys, with just weeks into our district fundraising for this
cause; Interlake has really brought it to the table! With it at a vote
as reward to pie Jenna (President) and Wesley (Treasurer) they
truly took one for the team, have fun smelling like whip cream for
the next week guys! Interlake really deserve about 5 million gold
stars, thank you so much for everyone who donated, you truly
touched the life’s of people with just $1.80!

Division 28’s Member of the Month
Lucas Moyer!
When it comes to serving his community Lucas is a pro! He is one
of the most dedicated Key Clubber I have had the honor of
meeting. Always going out of his way to help others is what made
him a clear choice. Not only does he have an enormous amount of
service hours, but as Newport’s VP he coordinates a majority of the
events, and makes sure the service projects run smoothly. He is a
role model, taking charge making sure all of Newport’s service
projects are the best they can be, and that the community is
getting the most it possibly can from the service he and his club
have been doing.

What’s His Favorite Service Event - My favorite service project would have to be the Kiwanis
Highland Dinner. The Kiwanis Highland Dinner is a monthly thing I do with a group of volunteers.
During the event we basically serve food to the mentally ill over at the Highland center. What makes
this event special to me is that after we serve them the food, we get to sit down and have a meal with
them. This project is special to me because I can really see that I’m making a change in these
people’s lives, and it is reflected in how they are excited to see me and how much of an important
figure I am in their lives when they call me by my name. I have done this event every month this
school year, and I look forward to doing it many more times.
Why He Joined Key Club - I joined Key Club for many reasons. I first heard about Key Club when
Matt Wu told me about it last year during gym class. He described it as a very inclusive club with
wonderful people, and he was absolutely right. I went to a meeting and I felt like I was in a positive
and caring environment, and from then on I was in love with Key Club.

What is Key Leader?
Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership
program for today's young leaders. This life-changing
event focuses on service leadership as the first, most
meaningful leadership-development experience.
Participants begin by attending a Key Leader conference,
which is a weekend retreat. Large and small group
workshops, discussions and team-building activities take
place over the course of the weekend. Students have
opportunities to learn leadership skills that will help
them to change their schools, communities, and world
for the better.
Personal Experience,
Going to Key Leader you learn a lot about how to deal
with people and situations that would happen in
everyday life. You see the difference between people’s
mindsets and learn how to use everyone’s strengths in a
team to your advantage, and how to find someone’s
strength. You get to meet a lot of new, amazing people
who you can connect with. If you are thinking of running
for a higher Key Club position defiantly think about
attending this once in a life time event.
