SEVERE ALLERGY ALERT Anaphylaxis
PRPS prides itself in ensuring the safety of all students. Several individuals in our school have life-threatening al-
lergies to peanuts, tree nuts and eggs. We request that these foods be avoided in all common areas of the school
(e.g gym, library, etc.) Please keep this in mind when packing your child’s snacks and lunches. If your child is in an
identified classroom, you will receive a separate notice.
If your son or daughter has a medical condition that we need to be aware of, please contact the school as soon as
possible!
Message from the Principal........
It’s hard to believe that it’s the last month of school. How quickly the year went! Re- port
cards will be going home on Monday June 20th. As always, we ask that you sign the appropriate pages and return
them to your child’s teacher.
Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Wednesday June 15th and is scheduled for 11:30am. The Grade Eight
Graduation will be on Wednesday June 22nd at 7:00pm at the school. This year we bid a fond farewell to thirteen
grade 8 students. We wish you good luck and all the best in the future. Thank you for being exceptional leaders and
role models within the school community – we will all miss you dearly.
The last day of school for all students will be on Friday June 24th.
I want to sincerely thank every person who has impacted our student’s lives in some way. I would like to thank all of
you for your support throughout the year. A special shout out to our volunteers who help out at school, thank you
very much. Teachers, support staff, parents, community partners and our students all work together to make Palmer
Rapids Public School a great place to learn and grow. We did have a fantastic year!
On behalf of all the staff, we would like to wish you all a safe and pleasant summer holiday!
My annual traditional parting thought – “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path
and leave a trail” (Ralph Waldo Emerson). Everyone is capable of great achievements, if you are motivated to attain
them and demonstrate perseverance to reach your goal!
All the best for an amazing summer,
Your Partner In Education
Jude Kelley

The Great Palmer Panther Walk-A-Thon It takes a village, it takes effort, it takes commitment, it takes dedication and it takes GREAT people like YOU!!! Our
first annual Walk-A-Thon successfully raised $5911.66, far surpassing our goal of $3500.00. Well done team! A special
thank you goes out to our Parent Council Chair, Tanya MacGregor. I know she certainly didn’t do it alone, but she
was the key driver in this new initiative. Thank you to the army that worked with her to make this day an amazing,
fun, family event! Our kids are lucky to have such dedicated people in their lives!!!
Grandparents Tea
This is my most favourite PRPS event! I love being able to spend time with your children and your parents!
The students put on a great show, and the grandparents hearts swelled with pride and joy. This was most apparent in their
smiling eyes and open loving arms. A big thank you to Heather Faraday for running with this event. Again, she didn’t do it
alone, so a huge thanks to everyone who stepped up to donate food, setup and clean up our space! Just another great example
of commitment and dedication!!!

The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) is responsible for providing transportation service to over 11,000 Renfrew County students in 53 different schools for both the Renfrew County District School Board and the Ren-frew County Catholic District School Board. Four routers are responsible for creating bus routes, setting up bussing, and making changes to bussing for these students. They work closely with the various bus Operators in each area to ensure safe, efficient, effective transportation to and from school. As safety of students is a priority, it takes time, and occasionally a physical review of a designated stop to process trans-portation requests, especially from mid-August to mid-October when there is a high volume of requests which results in delays in responding to individual requests. What can you do to help?
Please log into the “Parent Portal” by visiting our website (www.onthebus.ca) after August 22nd
to confirm the 2016-2017 school year or at any time throughout the regular school year to confirm your child’s bus information.
If you haven’t yet subscribed to receive email notifications for cancellations and delays or timing or bus # changes, we encourage you to do so by visiting our website and signing up at any time.
Over the course of the summer and throughout the school year if you need to make a change to your child’s addressing or transportation details (your home, your sitter, custody change, etc.) please contact your school or the RCDSB board office at 613-735-0151.
If you know of someone who has just moved into the area over the summer months have them contact the school or the RCDSB board office as soon as possible to register for school and transportation
