Winter inTucson, AZ2001-2002

Great Grandpa Hoff

After a full and eventful summer in Wyoming at the Ranch, Great Grandpa Hoff flew to Tucson, AZ shortly after Thanksgiving afterspending a few weeks in Idaho, to spend the winter at the home of Ray and Phyllis (oldest daughter) Sammons.

The winter included a month in the hospital, visits from ColleenPeters (his youngest daughter) from Minnesota, KL & Linda Reed (family friends) from Wyoming, Steve & Elizabeth Sammons and family from California and Stacy & Debbie Sammons and family from four blocks away here in Tucson.

This book shows some of the highlights of the winter.

On April 19th, 2002 he boarded a plane back to Montana to spend the summer with Larry and Melanie (middle daughter) Fisher.

Introduction

Christmas in Tucson

Debbie receives a quilt from Phyllis that was made by Ray’s aunt Dolly when he was born (1932).

Soon after Grandpa arrived we started remodeling the family room, the house

was a dusty dirty mess (removed ceiling, knocked out walls for larger

windows …..

Grandpa took the job of cutting up the wood from the remodeling, to burn in

the chimmenea.

Steve Sammons and family came for New Years and we

visited the Botanical Gardens.

The adults talked and the kids drew pictures of what they saw

and learned.

One day we went to the Saguaro National

Park.

After the hospital he spent a week in re-hab and found his favorite nurse, and her new hair-do.

Beeka had a birthday. So we had a small party.

Colleen came for a visit, to see her Daddy and to get out of the

Minnesota cold weather.

She did a lot of yard work while she was here. Notice the difference in the clothing between the natives and the girl from the

cold climate!
