How do you feel about winning this award?
Z: It’s an honour to be the winner among so many
students from different schools. My fellow competitors are
all outstanding students. I’m glad that my efforts are
appreciated by others. I promise that I will strive to do
even better in the future.
K: Any people that you want to thank?
Z: I want to thank Principal Ho for recommending me to
join the competition. I learned so much from joining this
competition. I visited underprivileged citizens and
minority groups, and I made some new friends. I also want
to thank my family members and friends for supporting and encouraging me.
K: Which students posts are you holding in BSTC right now?
Z: I am the head prefect, chairperson of the school choir, and a member of the school debate team.
Sometimes I find it hard to keep a balance between school work and extra-curricular activities, but it
gives me a chance to improve my time management skills.

HIDDEN TALENTS
of BSTC
She owns a pair of twinkling eyes, straight hair, and a
slim figure, all of which highlight her elegance. Her name is
Ruby, Fung Tse Wai, a talented jazz dancer and BSTC
student. She recently joined a jazz dancing institute and
regularly participates in performances held in community
halls. She started to dance when she was only three years
old. “I always wandered around the living room as a dancer
did. My mother suggested that I enroll in a ballet class,
which I did out of curiosity!” she said. she later found
herself fanatical about dancing and develop it a pastime and
interest. She has learned five kinds of dances including
ballet, Chinese dance, Latin, modern dance and jazz. Her
favourite is jazz dance. “Jazz contains heavy rhythms and
beats which gives me strong emotions. I will devote myself
to jazz in the next few years.”

Chan Ka Chun is the captain of the BSTC football team. He started
playing football when he was 3 years old. It was his father who
encouraged him to play football, and Ka Chun found that it was a
really enjoyable sport. One of his fond memories about football was
when foreign football players shared their professional experience
with him. From this, he learned the difference between playing
football abroad and playing in Hong Kong. Since he started to play
football, Ka Chun has joined many competitions. The most
impressive moment was when he and his BSTC teammates
competed against Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Kwai Chung). In that
match, everyone on the team fought together and showed great
team spirit.

Many people know how to swim. However, the talent of Cheng Sai
Man is something different. He has participated in three Cross-Harbour
Swimming Competitions in Hong Kong! His swimming skills are mind-
blowing.
Sai Man suffered from asthma in his childhood, and swimming
was the best sport for him during that time. Since 2001, swimming has
become an essential part of his life. Thanks to swimming, his asthma
has mostly been cured. Today, he still loves swimming and participates
in various competitions because he wants to challenge himself.
In Sai Man’s case, not only is his talent in swimming admirable but
also his determination to become better.
Cyril’s obsession with airplanes was ignited by a book on his dad’s bookshelf,
Hong Kong Aircraft Yearbook 1999. Aviation is a huge field, and Cyril focuses on
learning about aircraft models, aviation
technology, and flying itself. He feels that
he could fly a real plane if someone gave
him one to fly. Cyril plans to learn more
about flying and obtain a flying license after
getting his A-level results.
Carson became interested in airplanes out of
curiosity. He simply wanted to know why a large
lump of metal can fly in the air, and he started
researching about this field. When Carson was in
S1, Cyril, who was a school prefect, was on duty in
Carson’s classroom during lunch time. The two
immediately struck up a conversation, and
discovered each other’s mutual interest in
airplanes. Carson is especially interested in learning
how to fly a plane and wants to be a pilot or a flight
engineer in the future.
Leung Ming Lun of 3A started break dancing in May,
2011. Although he is an amateur dancer, he has achieved
the impressive result of placing 2nd in a Hong Kong break
dance competition. His talent in break dancing is
undoubted.
When asked whether his parents refused to let him
dance at first, he said, “My parents were totally against it,
but after they watched one of my performances, they
changed their minds. In addition, since YMCA has now
opened a safe space for us to dance, my parents no longer
worry about my new hobby.”
Ming Lun likes to dance because he loves the creativity
involved in designing steps without any restrictions.
(From left to right) Carson, Alex, and Cyril visited Cathay Pacific City last July when they participated in a quiz competition held by Cathay Pacific.

TEACHERS ’ PETS
Our day started off at their headquarters in Central.
There, we met the employees of the firm. It was a pleasure to
have had a few minutes to strike up a conversation with these
accountants and lawyers. We found out about their careers
and their lives, such as how they entered the company, what
difficulties they faced, and where they came from.
After that, we took a ferry to our destination – a beach
near Sai Kung Bay that was filled with piles of garbage! We
picked up the refuse one by one alongside our teammates. The
refuse we took away
filled up an entire
boat! Even though it was a little bit tiring, we all thought that
it was a great chance for us to give back to our community.
Besides broadening our horizons, we also helped
preserve the environment by not only words but by actions.
We certainly enjoyed the day and gained valuable experience,
which is conducive to our future careers. We would like to
thank Mr. CC Li and Goldman Sachs for providing us with
this golden opportunity to take part in community work.

The Song …
This is a song about love and the
willingness to accept love. The beginning
describes the attraction that is felt for
someone. This person is not scared and
nothing will stop him or her. Then, there is an impatient
request for the other person to look inside him/herself and find the same kind of
love. The song concludes to say that love is a great reason to get over your pride
and pretences. Go with the flow, be yourself, and feel the love in this world!

[Repeat CHORUS]
There's no need to complicate, our time is short This is our fate, I'm yours
D-d-do do you, but do you, d-d-do
But do you want to come on Scooch on over closer dear And I will nibble your ear
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do, our name is our virtue
[Repeat CHORUS]
[CHORUS]:
But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and then you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love lovelovelove
Listen to the music of the moment people, dance and sing We're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved lovedlovedlovedloved
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my bestest And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
