Running my IT is cheaper than using Cloud.

• Supports Microsoft and 3th party products –languages, OS, tools, frameworks = easier implementation/migration

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

I am losing control over my Cloud-stored data.

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

Yes, you can by ignoring reading and analyzing cloud provider’s T&C

• Do I control what happens to cloud-stored data?

– Commercial vs Free services & provider’s business model

• Who owns the data stored in cloud?

– DC owner x Collocation x Virtual provider/Broker

• Can the data be accidently deleted or corrupted?

– Cloud ≠ error prone IT. Use all means for data protection

– For HBI data have disaster recovery scenarios in place

I am losing control over my Cloud-stored data.

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

• How can I access my data?

– Internet connectivity, private data connections & physical “data shipping”

– Multiple datacenters data sets copies

• Does the provider complies with regulations?

– Treating all data, PII data specifically

– “Must have”: EU DPA, ISO 27018, ISO 27001, SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type II

• Cloud exist strategy with respect to my data?

– Access to data after the exit, and digital wipe

I am losing control over my Cloud-stored data.

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

• Pre-adoption concern– 60% cited concerns around data security as a barrier to

adoption

– 45% concerned that the cloud would result in a lack of data control

• Benefits realized– 94% experienced security benefits they didn’t previously have

on-premise

– 62% said privacy protection increased as a result of moving to the cloud

No, you don’t have to by selecting a right cloud provider with corresponding services contracts

I don´t know who can “legally” access my data.

• Public Authorities - Obligation to Issue Information x Search and Seizure Procedures (Police, Competition Authorities, Fiscal Authorities?)

– Limitation to Specific Jurisdiction

– Czech Republic?

• Competitors?– Legal v. Hackers

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

Dependency on service quality.

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

What is determining service quality?

Business needs for:

• Capacity

• Availability

• Response time

• Relevant costs

Dependency on service quality.

5 Myths aboud Cloud Computing

Factors:

• Technology

• People

• SLA and processes

• CAPEX & OPEX

Metrics (internal vs. external)

Using clouds raises many additional compliance issues

• I will face higher risks related to personal data protection • Controller x Processor

• Transfer of Personal Data Abroad

Customer Data Protection• Information Obligation

Software licensing• SaaS• Terms and Conditions
