Divine Mercy Devotion Next Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

The Divine Mercy Chaplet was revealed by Our Lord to Saint Faustina. On Good Friday 1937, Christ appeared to Saint Maria Faustina (a Polish nun) and asked her to recite this chaplet for 9 days, starting on Good Friday and ending on Divine Mer-cy Sunday. While the chaplet is most often recited during those nine days (in conjunction with the Di-vine Mercy Novena), it can be prayed at any time of the year, and Saint Maria Faustina herself recited it almost unceasingly. A standard rosary can be used to recite the chaplet.

Saint Faustina recorded these words of Our Lord in her diary: "At 3:00 o’clock, implore my mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in my passion, particular-ly in my abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into my mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of my Passion." From this has come the practice of reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day at 3:00 p.m.

Devoción a la Divina Misericordia Próximo Domingo a las 3:00 p.m. La Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia fue revelada por Nuestro Señor a Santa Faustina. El Viernes Santo de 1937, Cristo se apareció a Santa María Faustina (una monja polaca) y le pidió que rezara esta coronilla por 9 días, comenzando el Viernes Santo y terminando el Domingo de la Misericordia. Aunque la coronilla se recita con más frecuencia durante estos nueve días (en conjunto con la Novena de la Divina Misericordia), se puede rezar en cualquier época del año, y la misma Santa María Faustina lo recitaba casi sin cesar. Se pue-de utilizar un rosario regular para recitar la coronilla. Santa Faustina anotó estas palabras de Nuestro Señor en su diario: "A las 3:00 en punto, implora mi misericordia, especialmente para los pecadores, y, aunque sólo sea por un breve momento, sumérgete en mi Pasión, especialmente en mi abandono en el momento de agonía. Esta es la hora de gran misericordia para el mundo entero. Yo dejaré que entren en mi tristeza mortal. En esta hora nada le será negado al alma que me haga una petición en virtud de mi Pasión." De aquí viene la práctica de recitar la Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia todos los días a las 3:00 p.m.


T oday, on this Easter Sunday, we have a special offering for our Archdiocesan

Seminarians. As Pope John Paul II said, “The responsibility for the seminary belongs to the entire Christian community.” We are blessed in this Archdiocese with over 40 men who are responding to a call for priestly service to the people of God in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. These men need both our financial support and our prayers. Please provide a sound future for the semi-narians here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta by giving generously to the Archdiocesan Seminarians’ Collec-tion this weekend.

nuestros Seminaristas Arquidiocesanos Como dijo el Papa Juan Pablo II: “La responsabilidad por el seminario pertenece a toda la comunidad cris-tiana.” Hemos sido bendecidos en nuestra Arquidió-cesis con más de 40 hombres que están respondien-do al llamado de servir en sacerdocio al pueblo de Dios dentro de la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. Estos hombres necesitan tanto nuestro apoyo financiero, como todas nuestras oraciones.
