Aldinga Beach B  –   7 School invites the assistance ofvolunteer mentors to help out in our Mentoring Program. The program has seen over 1200 students and 130volunteers participate.

Community volunteers spanning generations enjoy theopportunity to provide guidance, pass on skills, share

This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to developtheir skills and look to the future with optimism.

The absolute strength of this initiative is the generationsinteracting together to achieve excellence in a shared passion. Primary students yearn to hear the rich lifeexperiences of community mentors.

We are currently in need of a guitar tutor, but other

activities include woodwork, arts/crafts, ceramics, sportsand science. We can develop any interest / skills even ifyou do not know that you have them yet!

This month is our third section on when you need to

legally give way.  Again we acknowledge the source as RAA’s ‘SAMotor’ - 2015 Spring Edition

    WAYNE

It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of thefight in the dog. Wayne, at 6'3" has both sides covered;due, he says, to a Spiritual strength he discovered in '87.

Not going anywhere in particular and not caring muchanyway, he was initially impressed by his sister's story of being born again, and soon followed her example. Butnot everything suddenly became whistles and brightlights. Disappointment; in fact shock and dispair becamea pattern. Despite doing his best at every turn, all hisefforts turned into mud.

But Wayne knows from experience that fine machinery(like his motor bikes) needed the right fuel to run properly - the higher the performance, the higher theoctane needed. And for the far more intricate human, thatthe right spiritual food was absolutely essential.

So his early experience of encountering Christ and whatthey termed the "baptism in the Holy Spirit" was thestabilising reality he needed to stay in the race, maintainhis direction and handle each setback as best he could.

The most sustaining period was his time in Bible Collegewhere he found an oasis of refreshment andencouragment as he gradually discovered what wasexpected of a Christ-follower in the verticle andhorizontal relationships. An example of this was whenWayne felt he was being asked by God to make a gift of aconsiderable amount of money to a person who had hitupon hard times - but who had been one of those who hadcaused him considerable grief. He gave the money.

Wayne sees each person as unique and believes Jesus

died for each and every one of us, just as we are. We needto invite Him into our battles for He said, "My strength is

    made perfect in your weaknes."

    Talking ealth

    with Kelly Harding ND

Are you sick of catching colds and flu’s?

Colds and flu’s can strike at anytime, not just thedreaded winter season. The good news is you do

not have to put up with runny noses, sinus pain, fevers, sore throats, coughs and generally feelingunwell. Now is the time to look at what naturalsupplement may help support your immune system.

If you regularly catch colds and flu’s you may havean imbalance in your immune system, which canmake you more susceptible to infection. A poor diet, nutritional deficiencies and a lack of exercise can alllead to this imbalance. A strong immune system canhelp protect you from harmful invaders such asviruses and bacteria, by recognising them as a

    potential threat.

Contrary to popular belief, viruses cause colds andflu’s not bacteria. Viruses are minute infectiousagents which invade and hijack your cells. Theimmune system recognizes viruses as invaders andattempts to destroy them before they invade yourcells. If your immune system is out of balance it maylose this ability to destroy them and viral infectioncan occur. Common symptoms include fevers, sorethroat, and fatigue among others.

There are many herbs and nutrients that can help in

these situations and this is where you Naturopathcan specifically tailor the right supplements for youas an individual. By making some simple changesto diet and lifestyle and by taking the appropriatesupplements you can reduce your risk of contractingcolds and flu’s. Speak to us about the best way tomanage or prevent your colds and flu’s this season. Our phone no is 08 8556 5945.

In the mean time there are some simple diet andlifestyle changes you can incorporate into your dayto help to strengthen your immune system to

    prevent colds and flu’s.

Eat a well balanced diet including fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, fish, eggs, legumes and lean redmeat. Reduce your intake of mucous forming foods, such as dairy. Avoid foods low in nutrients thatsuppress the immune system such as sugar, whiteflour products and alcohol. Drink at least 2 litres offiltered water every day. Exercise regularly andfinally ensure you are getting enough sleep. Welook forward to hearing from you at the clinic.

    GROWING OLD.

As I've aged, I've become kinder to, and less criticalof myself. I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedomthat comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play onthe computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I willdance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the50s, 60s & 70s, and if I, at the same time, wish toweep over a lost love, I will.

I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretchedover a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pityingglances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And,

eventually, I remember the important things.

Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose aloved one, or when a child suffers, or even whensomebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? Butbroken hearts are what give us strength, andunderstanding, and compassion. A heart neverbroken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never knowthe joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to havemy hair turning gray, and to have my youthful

laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on myface. So many have never laughed, and so manyhave died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You careless about what other people think. I don't questionmyself anymore. I've even earned the right to bewrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It hasset me free. I like the person I have become. I amnot going to live forever, but while I am still here, Iwill not waste time lamenting what could have been,

or worrying about what will be. And I shall eatdessert every single day (if I feel like it).(Anon - off the internet)
