    Asian Health Services

    Asian Health Services (AHS) is a comprehensive community health center that provides medical, dentalcare, health education, insurance counseling, and client advocacy to the undeserved Asian/Pacific Islander(API) population in Alameda County. Serving the community since 1974, AHS now provides about101,592 medical, dental and behavioral health visits to 21,877 patients annually. Bilingual in ninelanguages, our staff of over 250 includes 35 providers and 23 nurses. In addition, AHS is home to theLanguage and Cultural Access Program (LCAP), a medical interpretation and translation service; andCommunity Voices for Immigrant Health, a health policy development program. Our total 2009-10 fiscalyear operating budget is $ 23 million.

    There are several projects underway in Alameda County to extend health insurance coverage to currentlyuninsured communities. The partners in these collaborative effortsinclude the Asian Health Services, LaClinica de la Raza, Alameda Alliance for Health, The Alameda County Medical Center, the AlamedaCounty Health Care Services Agency and the Alameda Health Consortium/Community Health CenterNetwork.
