2019 Leadership Institute Region 3 Meeting (formerly the Region 3 Summit)
7
2018 Financial Results• We have a deficit in revenue of $585.00
– Our goal last year was to be in deficit of approximately $4000. This will allow us to reduce our reserves to be in accordance with new non-profit regulations.
• Our goal is to have at least enough reserve to run the chapter for a full year, Approx. 35K-37K which will be reviewed annually.– We are closing in on this goal with this deficit

2018 Financial Initiatives• Last year a portion of the money in the bank was earmarked for
membership engagements such as the CLIC, better speakers, professional development, volunteer recognition, SWAG, etc. We will be continuing on with this initiative in FY19.
• Recent changes to non-profit rules dictate that we work closely with our financial advisors to ensure we appropriately manage our chapter reserves. We will continue to do this going forward.

Bylaw Review – Summary (Part 2)
17
Major Update to Board of Directors terms Article IV – Section 2Before (v5) After (v6)
Reason for the Change• Clear up ambiguity with “… no more
than two consecutive terms” • May not serve again? • May serve after a break? If so how
long of a break is needed?• Bylaw not specific enough!
• Facilitate and encourage new members to the board of directors , bringing with them fresh ideas, different perspectives and oversight.
• Prevent the Board of Directors from becoming stagnant over the long term
Bylaw Review – Summary (Part 2 continued)
18
Major Update to Board of Directors terms Article V – Section 7/16Before (v5) After (v6)
Reason for the Change:• Article IV – Section 2 introduces a risk when
a position becomes vacant during the operation year.
• In the event that a board position becomes vacant and needs to be filed prior to the elections, the limitation does not apply.
• The Board may select a previous member with the experience and skills required for the vacant position, serving until the next board elections.
• This is of special importance when a required skill is not readily available for a critical function (Ex: Finance)

PMI 50th Year Anniversary!• It began as a dinner in early 1969 among three men at the Three
Threes Restaurant, a small, intimate gathering place just a few blocks from City Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• Ensuing discussions resulted in the first formal meeting at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on 9 October 1969. The by-product of this meeting was the birth of the Project Management Institute. Shortly thereafter, articles of incorporation were filed in Pennsylvania, signed by five persons, who are officially recognized as the founders of PMI - James Snyder, Eric Jenett, Gordon Davis, E.A. "Ned" Engman and Susan C. Gallagher.

Global Celebration of Service
An opportunity for project professionals around the world to uniteOur 50th Anniversary is a time to reflect on the achievements of project managers and recognize the progress that the profession as a whole has made. We also see it as a time to pull together in service, contribute our collective skills and passion, and make a difference in the world together. To accomplish this, PMI is supporting the United Nations’ mission to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals.
