THE ADVERB: A WORD THAT MODIFIES A VERB, AN ADJECTIVE, ANOTHER ADVERB, OR A SENTENCE.

the adverbs are divide in five groups

•Adverbs of manner •Adverb of time •Adverb of frequency •Adverb of place •Adverb of degree

Adverbs of

Manner

They answer to the question as:

How? Of What way?

In Spanish, are adverbs of

manner those that finish in

“mente” ex: fácilmente

In English, they finish in “ly “Ex: quickly

The adverbs of manner describe how the action is carried out .

•Ex: •slowly Quickly

If the adjective ends in “y”, you change the “y” to “i” before adding “ly.

Ex: easy easily

Happy happily

When the adjective ends in “le ”, you change la “e” to “y” . • ex: •Gentle gently

•Note: the adverb of “good” is “well”.Ex: He sings well.

•These adverbs are the most common:

•Always •Often •Usually •Sometimes•Seldom•Never/ever •Also

The adverbs of frequency are place:

• Behind of verb to be Ex: He is often late

• Between the subject and the verb in tense present simple.

Ex: I seldom go to the church.

• Between the verb “have” and past participle in the present perfect.

I have never been to Europe.
