American River Rafting Friday, October 2 – Sunday, October 4 CSU, CHICO STUDENT $115 | FACULTY/STAFF $125 | GENERAL $135 The South Fork of the American River offers some of the best class III whitewater in California. Spend the weekend paddling a guided raft down rapids during the day and camping out at night. This progression will thoroughly introduce you to the basics of this amazing sport that can become a lifetime obsession. We’ll take the weekend to explore a small corner of our local National Park. Whether you’ve never climbed before or are an experienced climber ready to get outdoors, this trip is perfect for you. Feather Falls Day Hike Saturday, December 5 CSU, CHICO STUDENT $30 | FACULTY/STAFF $40 | GENERAL $50 Join us for the day as we seek out this spectacular 640 ft waterfall in Chico’s backyard. Wilderness First Aid Course Saturday, December 5 – Sunday, December 6 CSU, CHICO STUDENT $230 | OTHER $250 The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. Does not include CPR. Jutting rock spires and pristine alpine lakes make this an unforgettable backpacking destination. Flumes of Paradise Day Hike Saturday, September 5 CSU, CHICO STUDENT $16 | FACULTY/STAFF $26 | GENERAL $36 In the past, flumes were used to float timber down from higher elevations. These trough-like, elevated structures now make for an interesting and fun hike just outside of town. Walk along the flumes and find your new favorite swimming hole or jumping rock. Upper Park Orienteering Thursday, September 10 CSU, CHICO STUDENT $4 | FACULTY/STAFF $14 | GENERAL $24 Don’t get caught not knowing where you are! Learn the art of orienteering with a map and compass, taking bearings, and recognizing topographic features in Upper Bidwell Park. FREE Sacramento River Cleanup Saturday, September 12 Thousands of people float the Sacramento River annually and, unfortunately, a lot of trash gets left behind. Make a difference by joining in the effort to clean up the river we all enjoy so much.
