EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Following the success of PHARMAFRICA EXPO 2017, the second edition of this event will be held in October 25th – 27th, 2018 in Abidjan (Ivory Coast. In partnership with the Ministry of Health and Hygiene Public PHARMAFRICA EXPO turns into AFRICA SANTE Expo, confirming thus the initiative to have a "Big week" of health with a pharmaceutical and medical encounter, in order to improve our health systems for the well-being of our people.

AFRICA SANTE Expo 18 is an event made of conferences, debates, workshops, panels, exhibitions under the theme:« THE QUALITY PROGRAM IN THE SERVICE OF HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF POPULATION SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT »

AFRICA SANTE Expo 18 is therefore designed as a platform for discoveries, information, training, business opportunities and exchanges on the regulatory framework in the field of health for the well-being of the populations. This unique event is a business, skills and of intelligence for the actors of the sectors of medicine, pharmacy, parapharmacy, laboratory, cosmetics, aesthetics and of traditional medicine.

BACKGROUND AND RATIONALEThe medical and pharmaceutical fields are experiencing a real boom with the organization of numerous meetings, forums and international shows involving the active participation of African countries. However, many participants at these events argue that the themes and technologies discussed are not in line with the development of the health sector in Africa.

This fact has an impact on the development of health professions and on solutions to the specific needs of the population. Thus the initiative to have a meeting both medical and pharmaceutical in Africa addressing the above-mentioned specificities led to the first edition of PHARMAFRICA Expo.This unique event was held from October 12th to 14th, 2017 at Sofitel Hotel Ivoire Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) under the High Patronage and the effective presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, H.E. Mr Daniel KABLAN DUNCAN, under the Presidency of the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr. Raymonde GOUDOU COFFIE, with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Mines, Mr Jean-Claude Brou and the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Mr. Maurice Kakou Bandama, and withDr Aka Ahouele as Honorary President

The 2017 edition brought together several health sectors namely: Pharmacy, Medicine, Biopharmacy, Homeopathy, Parapharmacy, Cosmetics, Biology, Aesthetics, Research, Merchandising, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Protection, Bioethics, Pharmaceutical Logistics, Packaging, Traditional and Natural Medicine, Care Facilities, Services etc.There have been many conferences, workshops, panels of high level, awards, and distinctions.

Several partners like the State of Côte, d’Ivoire, CEPICI (Center for the Promotion ofInvestments in Côte d'Ivoire), AfDB (African Development Bank), AFD (French Development Agency), Bi and multilateral institutions, National and international organizations andPrivate sponsors will bring their support for the success of AFRICA SANTE Expo 18.

AFRICA SANTE EXPO is in a value chain perspective to create an ecosystem of health in Africa.This will help develop industries, improve training, create research centers, but also and above all produce raw material, transform it and sell it.

A good regional integration policy and well-negotiated economic partnership agreements can:- serve as a lever for the development of a local pharmaceutical

industry,- generate significant resources for the health sector in favor of the

population well-being,- contribute to the improvement of health systems and the care of the

patient.

AFRICA SANTE EXPO will thus be an exceptional window of opportunities in Africa, particularly for:- Authorities, to participate in the show and support appropriate

development policies,- professionals, to discuss the latest technological innovations,- students, to become familiar with their future profession,- populations, to discover a world which is unknown to them and

answers to their interrogations.

SYMPOPHARMA is therefore a platform for discovery, information, training, sharing, exchange and updating of knowledge on technological advances in terms of improving performance and quality of the sector leading to the well-being of population at national and international scale.

Goal: To enable discovery and facilitate accessibility to adjusted innovative technologies and efficient products for the well-being of populations.

General Objective: to bring Health Professionals Together and establish a strategic partnership platform for improving the quality of services and the diffusion of innovative products in Africa.

SYMPOINDUS or symposium dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry looks at the issue of the development of pharmaceutical industries in Africa. It's a platform for discussions and exchanges on various topics, particularly policies of industrialization, the legal and regulatory contexts, the production of and the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients, equipment and technologies, skills training, standards and qualities…

• Goal: To improve accessibility to quality, efficient and sure products and care by securing the regional pharmaceutical market and industrialization.

• General objective: To contribute to the development of Pharmaceutical Industries in Africa, through a strategy of development of poles of excellence.

• Specific objectives:- To create the collaborative platform, bringing together industry,

professionals and regulatory experts.- To promote public-private, private-private and public-public partnership in

the field of industry in order to raise funds necessary to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Africa.

• Sub-Theme: Turning threats into opportunities for an efficient accessibility of population to quality health products, and which will be developed around

BotanicaBOTANICA is a botanical and educational tour realized by the National Floristic Center (CNF) in partnership with AFRICA SANTE Expo.

CNF is a space of scientific research on diversities of Côte d'Ivoire and West Africa, attached to the Biosciences department of Felix Houphouet Boigny University of Abidjan.

Sub-Theme: From the plant to the medicine

Throughout the tour, BOTANICA will present the basics of traditional medicine, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, cosmetic and will be open to all professionals and passionate of nature.Botanical and phytotherapy workshops will be organized there.

SYMPOMEDICA or symposium on the development of medicine in Africa will will be held during three days with a particularity namely health days for free screening for chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, ophthalmology, odontostomatology...), exhibitions and debates in the presence of an exceptional plateau of high level experts.

Sub-Themes1 - The burden of chronic conditions and the interest of a common mobilization.2- The challenges to be met for the development of a quality sanitary system.

• Goals:¬ To improve the quality and development of health and populations well-being

systems.

• Main objective:¬ To contribute to the development of health services in Africa through a

development strategy of poles of excellence.

• Specific objectives :¬ To create the collaborative platform, bringing together equipment manufacturers,

professionals, third-party payment organizations and banking and financial institutions.

¬ To discuss the issue of medical and pharmaceutical strategies and innovations as well as alternative medicine in the treatment of chronicles diseases in Africa.

¬ To promote good practices among the populations and provide free care during seven days through a program called « Health days »

HEALTH DAYS is a concept dedicated to targeted populations as a prelude to second edition of AFRICA SANTE Expo.

These seven health days will allow the population to benefit from social actions of the partners and exhibitors, in the context of development of the health component of the Social Responsibility of Companies (CSR).

Sub-Theme« Strengthening strategies for screening of chronic diseases »

Goal:To contribute to the improvement of chronic diseases screening within targeted populations.

Strategy:The activities will take place in the pre-exhibition phase and during the show, with the competition of health professionals and experts in the management of health system.

Main axes of the HEALTH DAYS concept:• A caravan for screening of diabetes, hepatitis and blood hypertension • Ophthalmological consultations• Odontostomatology consultations• Awareness raising and nutritional education activities• A stall for blood donation by visitors.

« INNOV’AFRICA SANTE 2018 » is a support system for excellence in the areas of health and digital, within the framework of AFRICA SANTE Expo 18.

The aim of this competition is to stimulate innovative initiatives and dynamic in the field of health, in order to contribute to improving access to quality products and care.

The project: The construction and rehabilitation of the Community Action Center for Childhood (CACE) of Subiakro sisters of Notre Dame de l’Incarnation of Yamoussoukro.Subiakro is a village located in the region of Yamoussoukro with an estimated population of 8,000 inhabitants.

Background: According to UNAIDS, Côte d'Ivoire remains the most affected country with 4.7% of the population infected by HIV. There are 570,000 people living with HIV and 540,000 orphans and Vulnerable children (OVC) because of HIV / AIDS (healthy orphans and children made vulnerable by HIV).The sisters of Notre Dame de l’Incarnation of Yamoussoukro have to care for 1500 OVC children who given to host families from the age of 6 to avoid being stigmatized.CACE welcomes children from 0 to 6 years, grandparents or families who receive them have very insignificant incomes and whose field work is the main activity (dangerous for children with pesticides and animal bites)

These children are born at home with the sometimes non-observance of the vaccination schedule and the lack of nutritional follow-up (carbohydrate and starch-based staples). With no pre-school education, the latters are marginalized, without stimulation and with severe anemia.CACE offers children a space for awakening, socialization and exchange, a balanced diet and medical follow-up. All children have the right to quality early childhood education regardless of their background.Good education and early childhood care prepare for school entry with happy and healthy children, and the creation of a vibrant and well-educated rural population.CACE is a powerful tool in the fight against poverty. The alleviation of parental tasks increases and improves their incomes, evening literacy and crafts classes are given to adults.

The current building has gone from straw to a plank building without toilets. Children go then into the scrub with all the dangers that it entails.

AFRICA SANTE EXPO in partnership with Lions Club International aims to build a 3-class school with a canteen, toilets, rest area, playground and fence to improve the daily life, the well-being of these children.
