LOCATION REPORT – ‘NOAH’

Daniel Rothery

LOCATION 1 – THE GREEN ROOM

The ‘Green Room’ is a facility at Wyke College that is available to students who study Media and Film. I used this location to film the section where Noah has been transported into a different dimension by Occupavi. I also used this location as a quite spot to record the audio for the voice overs.

There were a couple of problems when filming in this location because I felt like I couldn’t use the whole space because of the lights. This then restricted the camera angles that I could get leaving me no choice but to only use tilts and medium shots. If I were to use this location again I would seek help from the Media Technician and ask for his advice on using the space to full potential.

LOCATION 2 – LITTLE SWISS (THE WOODLAND AREA AT THE HUMBER BRIDGE)

This location was very accessible and idea for me as it fitted with the genre of the product. One of the conventions of the fantasy genre is the use of woodland area to create mystery and the sense of an unknown mystical location on the audience.

I decided to film in this location to suit and conform to the conventions of the fantasy genre and to have more of a sense of verisimilitude.

LOCATION 3 – MANOR WAY, ANLABY (INTERIOR)

This location is the interior or my house. This is for the beginning bit of the short film where Noah is just leaving the house and at the end of the short film where he arrives back. This section is perceived by the audience as reality at the beginning but that perception can be seen to have changed at the end because Noah finds the wand back at his home and then the film ends.

I also used this location because it was very accessible to use and saved time finding another location.

LOCATION 4 – MANOR WAY ALLEY WAY

Near my house there is an alley way. This location was ideal for filming the sequence where Noah finds the wand; it’s out of view from the majority of the public and the location gives the sense of mystery the film. I did originally want to film this sequence on a curb/path in the middle of Hull City Centre but I felt that there would be a lot of public thoroughfare that would have been problematic when filming.
