Fourth Sunday of Easter April 22nd, 2018

Dear Friends in Christ,

I am delighted to inform you that we have

received two disbursements from the Foundation of

the Diocese of Buffalo for Upon This Rock - Building

a Bright Future. The amount so far totals

$45,250.00 During the Campaign I mentioned that

the money would be used to create and enhance

parish programs, an electronic sign in front of the

Church to inform the community about our wonderful

parish, activities and promote the Catholic faith. Air

conditioning the Hall is still being considered and

enclosing the front of the Church including the

Shrine thereby creating a gathering area. The

Parish Finance Committee along with myself after

considering the cost of the different projects have

decided to start with the electronic sign because it

will greatly benefit the parish at this time. We have

already received quotes ranging from $19,000 to

$30,000 and will continue to update you as the

project moves forward. As more disbursements

come in we will continue working on the above

projects. Thank you to all who donated for this

Campaign and thank you to all who continue to give

in the weekly collection and volunteer to keep our

parish vibrant.

A very special thank you to you for living your

faith, thereby fortifying the Catholic Church. Your

warmth and openheartedness are amazing. Many

times visitors will say to me they felt welcomed and

embraced by parishioners. Thank you!

May Almighty God hold you and your loved

ones in the palm of His Hands. St. Peter and

Fourteen Holy Helpers pray for us.

In Easter joy,

Fr. David

Greif Support Group at

Fourteen Holy Helpers

The next group will begin in

April or early May. If you’re

not sure about this you may just want to come once or

twice to help you decide. Please call the rectory to give

your name and phone number if you are thinking of

attending. Sister Elizabeth will then contact you to give

you additional information or answer any questions you

might have. Give yourself a chance. Come and see!

World Day of Prayer will be

observed on

Sunday, April 22nd, also known

as

"Good Shepherd Sunday."

Today the Church throughout the

world prays for vocations. Will you make a special effort

to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and

religious life?

Pray for the priests who have ministered to you

throughout your life, both living and dead.

Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the

week.

Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young

people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious

brother or sister.

Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our

diocese to respond to God’s call.

Save the Date!

Please join us for a Retirement

Celebration for Rev. Msgr. Slubecky on

Sunday, June 3rd.

Msgr. Slubecky will be celebrating

10:30am Mass and we will have a light reception

following Mass in the Hall from 11:30am-1:00pm.

If you have any questions or can bring a dish to pass

please call Charlotte @ 675-6963. Members of the

Sodality of Our Lady, please contact Jean Rusin.

Catholic Home Mission Appeal

Next week, April 28 & 29, we will take up a second

collection for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right

now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the United States

are considered home mission territory because they are

unable to fund the essential pastoral work needed in

their communities. Your support of this appeal helps

ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully

consider how you can support this appeal. More

information can be found at

www.usccb.org/home-missions.

Catholic Trivia

This week’s question: Through what two

sacraments do we enter into a deeper relationship

with the Holy Spirit?

Be sure to come back next week for the answer!

Last week’s question: What are the 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit? Answer: The 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit are:

1) Charity. 2) Joy. 3) Peace. 4) Patience.

5) Benignity. (This is the virtue of kindness to others.)

6) Goodness. 7) Longanimity. (Perseverance in the

mission God has given us and the ability to stay faithful

over the long time.) 8) Mildness. 9) Faith.

10) Modesty. 11) Continency. (This is the virtue to

control sexual and other appetites in a holy manner like in

marriage when one spouse because of sickness can not

have relations) 12) Chastity.

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,

kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Against such there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ

[Jesus] have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. Let us not be

conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another and

envying each other. (Gal 5:22-26)

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit

On my knees before the great multitude of celestial

witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body, to You, Eternal

Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity: the

unerring keenness of Your justice: and the might of Your

love. You are the strength and light of my soul. In You I

live and move and am. I desire never to grieve you by

unfaithfulness to grace: and I pray with all my heart to be

kept from the smallest sin against you. Make me faithful

in every thought; and grant that I may always listen to

Your voice and watch for Your light, and follow Your

gracious inspirations. I cling to You, and give myself to

You, and ask You by Your compassion to watch over me

in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus, and

looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting to His Precious

Blood, and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I

implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, so to

keep me in Your Grace that I may never sin against You

with the sin which You will not forgive.

Give me grace, O Holy Ghost, spirit of

the Father and the Son, to say to You,

always and everywhere: ”Speak, Lord, for

Your servant is listening.” Amen.
