Thursday July 20, 2017 4 DISTRICTS Father, son injured as car skids into gorge STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Father, son got injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road near Nashri on Batote- Ramban National Highway on Wednesday evening. According to reports, A Nano car on its way to Nashri from Batote on reaching near Nashri area 6 Km from Batote on Ramban- Batote highway fell into 40 feet deep gorge result- ing 2 persons got injured. It was reported that the driver had lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. After coming to know about the incident, police along with locals rescued both from the gorge and shifted them to Emergency Hospital Batote. The injured have been identified as Kaka Ram (42) son of Mansa Ram and his 15 year old son Sahil residents of Bhagote in village Batote area. Later, both the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for further treatment. A case has been registered in this regard Youth's body found from Tawi STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Police on Wednesday recovered a body of a youth from Tawi near village Mathlow at Chenani in Udhampur. According to a report, Chenani Police recovered a body of youth lying in mysterious circumstances in Tawi near village Mathlow at Chenani in Udhampur and shifted it to Sub- District Hospital Chenani where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased was identified as 22 years Shakeen son of Darshan Kumar resident of village Pattan Garh in Chenani. Police handed over the body to his family members after conducting autopsy and registered a case under section 174 Cr.PC for investigation. Two nabbed with poppy straw, Charas STATE TIMES NEWS VIJAYPUR/SAMBA: Police on Wednesday arrested two per- sons and recovered 900 gm poppy straw and 18 gm Charas from their possession. According to a report, Vijaypur Police on an information arrested one Ram Dass (60) son of Sawan Mal resident of Jakh Tehsil Vijaypur and Distt Samba and recovered 450 gm poppy straw from his possession. A case vide FIR No.99/2017 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Vijaypur. The operation was carried by the team of Police Station Vijaypur led by SHO Insp. Suraj Pathania. Meanwhile in another incident, a party of Police Station Samba during Naka checking at Mansar Morh intercepted a truck (HP68/1953) and recovered about 450gm poppy straw and 18gm Charas from the possession of driver namely Vikram Singh alias Vicky son of Daleep Singh. A case vide FIR No 151/17 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Samba. 10 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers nabbed STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Police on Saturday arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued the 10 bovines from their possession. According to a report, a party headed by In-Charge Police Post Tikri laid a Naka near Tikri and intercepted a Truck (JK02A-4071). During checking, 10 bovines were found loaded in the truck which were rescued and the driver name- ly Mohd. Rafiq son of Gulam Rasool resident of Reasi with his helper (conductor) namely Amnek Singh son of Harnek Singh resident of W.No. 3, RS Pura Jammu were arrested. A case vide FIR No. 111/2017 was registered against them at Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of law. 2 women killed in land slide STATE TIMES NEWS RAMNAGAR: Two women who went to collect their cattle from meadow were buried under a land slide and killed while returning home. The woman identified as Bimlo Devi (32) wife of Bodh Raj and Kailasho Devi (38) wife of Shallo Ram both residents of Trelam, Ramnagar met their misfortune on reaching Kaua Base Camp of Mata Pingla Devi, when suddenly they got buried under debris of land slide and died late in the evening today. Body of Smt Bimlo Devi was recovered while the body of other woman could not be retrieved from the debris in the absence of a JCB till receipt of the last reports. The SHO Sanjay Raina who reached the spot said that bodies will have to be shifted to Sub District Hospital Ramnagar for autopsy. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: In a major drive launched by district admin- istration, Rajouri against illegal power connections and power theft a fine of Rs 2,44,086 was imposed in 73 inspections conducted on various feeders in five subdi- visions. In last four days a total fine of Rs 7,36,634 has been imposed in such cases. Four FIRs have also been registered in cases of illegal usage of power in Rajouri-II Division. District Development Commissioner, launched the drive of Power Development Department assisted by con- cerned Executive Magistrates and Police earli- er this week for disconnec- tion of illegal connections as a relief to genuine power consumers and rationalisa- tion of power supply in dis- trict. In all 461 inspections have been conducted and Rs 7.36 lakh fine imposed. Today a fine of Rs 92,880 was imposed in Sunderbani, Rs 69,573 in Rajouri-II, Rs 53,633 in Rajouri-I, Rs 17,000 in Koteranka and Rs 11,000 in Nowshera. Pertinently, Rs 2.04 lakh fine was imposed in Kalakote yesterday. Highest fine of Rs 3.64 lakh has been imposed in Rajouri-II division. As an outcome of this drive a total of 199 connections involving Rs 173.55 KW load were regularised. The drive has led to increase in revenue of power depart- ment and removal of illegal connections as a relief to regular customers paying power tariff regularly. More than 12 welding connections operating illegally were also disconnected. The drive against illegal power connections has now been initiated in each feeder where teams of power department have been deputed for taking action against such instances and initiating legal proceedings. Earlier, DDC Dr Shahid reviewed the progress in a meeting attended by Superintending Engineer EM and RE, XEn EMRE and also with SDMs and Tehsildars. Revenue officers have been directed to identi- fy illegal connections further in collaboration with power department. The drive is aimed at eliminating the ille- gal power load to reduce unscheduled power cuts. Meanwhile seven damaged transformers were replaced in the district today. Power theft: Rs 7.36 lakh fine imposed, 4 FIRs registered STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Wednesday visited relief camps set up for border migrants and also took stock of the obtaining situation in villages along the Line of Control (LoC) that are affect- ed by cross LoC shelling. The DC enquired about the welfare of migrants and reviewed facilities being pro- vided to them by the district administration. It was said that the district administra- tion has established special relief camps for the people evacuated from habitations along the Line of Control (LoC) following heavy cross- border shelling in the area recently. Pertinently, the district administration and police had yesterday launched a major rescue operation and rescued 217 students and around 15 teachers from three schools in Nowshera Sub-division dur- ing the shelling. More than 150 students were shifted to camps while other students were handed over to their parents. On the occasion while brief- ing the media persons about rescue and relief measures at the relief camp set up in Government Middle School Bawali , the DC said that the district administration in coordination with other departments, is providing proper accommodation, food, cooking facility, drinking water, sanitation, first aid and other basic amenities in the relief camps, adding that offi- cers and officials from various departments have been deployed to ensure facilities at relief camps. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Administration, Rajouri launched a major anti- encroachment drive for removal of illegal encroach- ments along PWD road in which 5KM road length was cleared from illegal struc- tures on Kheora-Choudhary Nar Road. A joint team of Revenue, PWD, Police with assistance from CRPF launched the anti-encroachment drive early morning yesterday to remove structures construct- ed in violation of J and K Prevention of Ribbon Development Act. The encroachments which had reduced the driving space over a period of many years were removed using heavy machinery. Three government officials belonging to Education and Irrigation Departments involved in triggering anti- administration protest were also identified and directions issued to concerned district officers for initiating proceed- ings against them. A strong contingent of police and CRPF was deployed in wake of protest organised by encroachers. More than 200 structures including extension of shops, sun-shades, kiosks, sheds and more than 500 steps con- structed on acquired land of PWD were removed by a team comprising Tehsildar Rajouri, AEE PWD and SHO Rajouri along with field officials of the department. Construction material worth lakhs of rupees dumped on road surface was also seized and confiscated. Nearly 22 Kanals of State land was retrieved from encroachers which was acquired by PWD for construction of road. Deputy Commissioner Rajouri had earlier directed the Superintending Engineer and Commander 31 BRTF to exercise powers of Chief Engineer under Prevention of Ribbon Development Act to remove all kinds of encroach- ments from various roads which has often led to traffic congestion. The drive against illegal encroachments on Rajouri-Thanamandi Road is also being started which will be followed by resurfacing of last 7KM road this season. STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Expressing its resentment over the non release of their pending salaries, the Chenab Valley National Health Mission Employees Association made an appeal to the State Govt and concerned authorities for instant release of all pending salaries of its employees working under different schemes like NCD, RBSK, IDSP etc without any delay. In a press statement, Sr Leader of the Association Faizan A Tramboo said that since April 2017, the con- cerned authorities have failed in releasing the pend- ing salaries of NHM Employees of J and K due to which they are facing immense hardships. "For the past three-four months, we have not received our salary as we have no other source of income as a result of which our families particularly school going children have been suffering badly", said Sr Employee Dr Hamid Parray who is also the President of Chenab Valley Doctors Association. Another Sr Employee Dr Nasir Masood said that its we people who run the Govt on the ground and it is by our efforts that the Govt is able to accomplish its agen- da of development but our services have never been acknowledge by the higher authorities. The CVNHMEA also made an appeal to the com- mittee members constituted by Commissioner Secretary (Health and Medical Education Deptt J and K) vide Govt Order No 151 HME of 2017 Dated March 15, 2017 which indicates Additional Secretary Health and Medical Education, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director Health Services Jammu and Mission Director NHM J and K to look in to their sub- mitted file and furnish its report to State Govt in a time bound manner for fur- ther course of action. NHM employees demand timely release of salaries STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: A plantation drive was started at SPS Police Training School Kathua with the motive to plant more than 500 plants in area which includes fruits, ornamen- tal and seasonal plants to increase the greenery in and around the institute. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: The District Development Commissioner, Kathua on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the power scenario in the dis- trict at DC Office complex. Issues related to availability of power supply, voltage drop, unscheduled cuts were dis- cussed with the officers of PDD. At the outset DDC Kathua constituted a dedicated Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for inspection which comprises of Magistrate, Police Officer and PDD officers along with field staff to conduct drives against the illegal connections. The drive will be a regular affair which aims to keep a check on un-registered electricity con- nections resulting in overload and loss of State exchequer. The meeting also identified the vulnerable areas reported with maximum gap between consumption of power and revenue in turn. He called for starting the drives from vul- nerable areas to other areas across the district. Purposing on converting un- registered connections to reg- istered, DDC called for pro- viding on spot provision of new connections to the con- sumers during the drives. During the meeting district administration devised out a daily reporting mechanism under which AEEs to update the data of such drives on daily basis. The data will reflect disconnections, new connections, collections and other information related to the drive. While talking tough on power theft, DDC directed the officers to fix the responsi- bility upon the team compris- ing of AEE, JE and lineman concerned in wake of any un- registered connection/ re-con- nection after the drive. He called for proper monitoring and tracking of different types of irregularities/cases like direct tapping, additional load usage, non-sanction util- isation of load, running under disconnection, tampered meter etc to check the menace of power theft. The DDC asked the PDD functionaries to work with dedication and devotion to deliver best possible services to the people. He appealed people to get their power con- nection registered with speci- fied usage to reduce the risk of transformer breakdown. She asked Rural Development Department officials to disburse payment of works in proportion to their execution and do not wait till completion of the project. Earlier in a meeting, district level coordination committee for centrally sponsored scheme ''mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)" approved the action plan for Horticulture sector under centrally sponsored scheme for the financial year 2017-2018 for an outlay of Rs. 57.17 lakh. The production and productivity improvement of fruit crops, up gradation of nursery gardens, rejuvenation of old and senile horticulture plantation, creation of water sources, etc. are the major components of mission being taken up during current year in horticulture sector. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: The DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Kathua on Wednesdaychaired a meeting to reviewthe power scenario in the dis-trict at DC Office complex.Issues related to availabilityof power supply, voltage drop,unscheduled cuts were dis-cussed with the officers ofPDD.

At the outset DDC Kathuaconstituted a dedicatedVigilance and MonitoringCommittee for inspectionwhich comprises ofMagistrate, Police Officer andPDD officers along with field

staff to conduct drives againstthe illegal connections. Thedrive will be a regular affairwhich aims to keep a check onun-registered electricity con-nections resulting in overloadand loss of State exchequer.The meeting also identifiedthe vulnerable areas reportedwith maximum gap betweenconsumption of power andrevenue in turn. He called forstarting the drives from vul-nerable areas to other areasacross the district.

Purposing on converting un-registered connections to reg-istered, DDC called for pro-viding on spot provision of

new connections to the con-sumers during the drives.

During the meeting districtadministration devised out adaily reporting mechanismunder which AEEs to updatethe data of such drives ondaily basis. The data willreflect disconnections, newconnections, collections andother information related tothe drive.

While talking tough onpower theft, DDC directedthe officers to fix the responsi-bility upon the team compris-ing of AEE, JE and linemanconcerned in wake of any un-registered connection/ re-con-

nection after the drive. Hecalled for proper monitoringand tracking of differenttypes of irregularities/caseslike direct tapping, additionalload usage, non-sanction util-isation of load, running underdisconnection, tamperedmeter etc to check the menaceof power theft.

The DDC asked the PDDfunctionaries to work withdedication and devotion todeliver best possible servicesto the people. He appealedpeople to get their power con-nection registered with speci-fied usage to reduce the riskof transformer breakdown.
