As per the details, acting sternly against drug menace, a police team of Police Station Kathua during patrolling duty in Tareyada Barnoti area seized 7000 SPM-PRX+ capsules from the possession of one Falli Ram son of late Sardari Lal resident of Jarmal Nagri Kathua. He was arrested and a case vide FIR no 371/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against the accused. Man held with 700 gm poppy straw STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Police on Saturday arrested one drug peddler and recovered 700 grams of poppy straw from his possession. According a report, Ramgarh Police intercepted one person at village Rarian during the Naka checking who was moving under suspicious circumstances. During his frisking, police recovered 700 grams of poppy from his possession. The accused identified as Raj Masih son of Bachan Masih, resident of Bainglad, Samba was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 66/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Ramgarh. The whole operation was conducted under the over- all supervision of SSP Samba Dr Koushal Sharma and direct supervision of SDPO Vijaypur Baljeet Singh. Rape accused, absconding for over a year, arrested STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: A man accused of abduction and rape, who has been absconding for over a year has been arrested in Ramban district, police said on Saturday. As per the details, abscon- der namely Nizam Din son of Asadullah resident of Dalwa The Gool who was evading arrest for the last one year was arrested by Dharmkund Police. He was involved in case vide FIR No 24/8/17 under sections 376/363/342/109 of Police Station Dharamkund. The accused was arrested by a team headed by SHO Dharmkund Ajit Singh under the close supervision of Asgar Malik DySP Hqrs Ramban and Addl SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and under the overall supervi- sion of Anita Sharma SSP Ramban. MVD realises over Rs 4.5 lakh fine STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Motor Vehicle Department has realized over Rs 4.5 lakh fine from traffic violators during a special 2 day drive. As per the MVD, the drive launched under the Supervision of RTO Dr. Raj K. Thapa started by laying a naka on National highway near RTO office at 10 PM yester- day which continued till 11.30 AM on this morning. A total of 278 vehicles were checked and fine to the tune of Rs. 482900 (Four Lac, Eighty two Thousand & Nine Hundred only) was realised for violation of various provisions of Motor Vehicle Act & rules framed. Various vehicles were imposed fine for offences like not wearing seat belt, without helmet, w/o Pollution Under Control Certificates, using mobile phone while driving, overloading in goods vehicles etc. The other members of team were ARTO Kathua Kuldeep Singh, MVI Vikas Srivats, MVI Kamal Kumar , MVI Ravinder Kumar and other MVD Officials. Scooty rider killed, four injured in mishaps STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A Scooty rider was killed while four others got injured in road mishaps in District Samba on Saturday. According to a report, a motorcycle without registration number hit a Scooty (JK02BK- 2183 ) near IOC Bottling Plant at Kartholi Bari Brahmana, resulting in the scooty rider death on spot. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for autop- sy and was identified as Balbir Singh son of Pritam Singh resident of Kathar Pindi Charkan Jammu. Police has taken cognisance the matter and started investigation. Meanwhile, Ravi Kant son of Prem Nath resident of upper Harsarh Ghagwal got injured when a motorcycle (PB35F- 0939) he was riding was hit by an army vehicle at Maheshwar area of Samba resulting in injuries to him. He was shifted to District Hospital Samba for treatment from where doctors referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment. Meanwhile three persons were seriously injured when a vehicle bearing regis- tration No JK01S-6726 on its way from Rajouri to Jammu rolled down from the road and fell into 90 feet deep gorge near Lamberi. The injured persons were immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital Nowshera but due to the critical condition of two persons namely Javed Ahmed, son of Jalaludin, resident of Pulwama and Bashir Ahmed, son of Abdul Ajij, resident of Kamkhani, Kashmir were evacuated to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. The third injured Mohd Rafiq, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Patnitop was admitted in Sub District Hospital Nowshera. Police has registered the case for investigation. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: An awareness rally on the theme 'Gandhian Ideas In Today's World' was organised by Red Ribbon Club GDC Kathua in collab- oration with J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education (J&K) to com- memorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. About 100 volun- teers of Red Ribbon Club and students of the college partic- ipated in the rally which was flagged off by Prof. Kartar Chand Principal GDC Kathua and the Chairman of the Red Ribbon Club. The rally started from GDC Kathua and reached Shaheedi Chowk by passing through various Bazars. While addressing the Rally Dr. Arun Dev Singh Programme Officer of Red Ribbon Club said that the time has come when students have to play pivotal role to aware the masses regarding the values of Gandhian Ideas. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Claiming that grass-root level institutions of democracy in the country received boost under BJP's tenure in Central Government, Member Legislative Council (MLC) Advocate Vibodh Gupta on Saturday termed decision of government to strengthen Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies as landmark and said such steps will transform ground institutions into power- ful units of development in country. Legislator was addressing a meeting in Tandwal locality of Rajouri town which was held as a part of campaign in favour of BJP candidate Yogesh Sharma. In his address during the meeting, MLC Vibodh Gupta said that Government of India's decision to empower panchayats and to ten time increase its financially power is historical and resounding. He highlighted various steps taken by Central Government to strengthen Panchayats in J&K and said, "decision to transfer 29 subjects to Panchayats in J&K which were earlier transferred to Panchayat across nation under 73rd Amendment is praiseworthy". While address- ing the students and teach- ers, Medical Representative of Indian Army briefed about heart anatomy, causes, symptoms of heart attack, its prevention and treatment.
