According to a report, a matador (JK02Q-9035) on its way to Chenani from Udhampur met with an accident near Bali Nallah in Udhampur. In the accident seven passengers got critically injured and were identified as 78 years Pushpa Devi wife of Onkar Singh resident of village Narsoo, 60 years Vishno Devi wife of Nasib Chand resident of Chenani, 36 years Jyoti Devi wife of Yashpal resident of Bashit, Prem Nath son of Jalla resident of Sudhmahadev, Arti Devi daughter of Pramu resident of Sudhmahadev, Ram Piyari wife of Raju, Subash Kumar and Noor Mohd. son of Khurshid resident of Chilyad. All the injured was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur. Udhampur Police has regis- tered a case for investigation. 20 bovines rescued, 4 smugglers nabbed STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Police on Thursday foiled four bovine smug- gling bids by rescuing 20 bovines and arresting four smug- glers. As per the details, based on a reliable information regard- ing illegal transportation of bovines animals and on the directions of Sr. Supdt. of Police Poonch Rajiv Pandey, a party led by SHO Surankote Insp. Som Raj, In-Charge Police Post Behramgalla SI Jonesh Verma intercepted four Tata Mobiles (JK12A-2971,JK05F- 7730,JK12A-2087and JK12A-7320) which were on its way from Surankote towards Kashmir. During the search of said vehicles,20 bovines were found loaded in them which were rescued and four smugglers namely Imran Ahmed son of Mohd. Latief Khan resident of Banola Tehsil Mendhar; Naseer Ahmed son of Wali Mohd. resident of Narool, Tehsil Mendhar; Mohd Ajaz son of Mohd. Bashir resident of Khanetar Tehsil Haveli and Mohd Azad son of Faiz Mohd. resident of Khanetar Tehsil Haveli Distt Poonch were arrested. Unidentified male body found STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: An unidentified male body was recovered from vil- lage Talot of Samba on Thursday. According to a report, today morning some persons on see- ing a male body near Talot Forest area, informed the police who reached on the spot and took the body into their custody. Sources disclosed that the face of the deceased was covered with polythene and throat was tied with Salwar with some cut marks. The body was kept in the mortuary room of District Hospital Samba for identification. Police has taken cognisance in the matter and started further investigation. Two nabbed with heroin STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA/R S PURA: Police on Thursday arrested two per- sons and recovered heroin from their possession. According a report, a team of Bari Brahmana Police Station along with Anti Drug Squad apprehended one Mushtaq son of Titar Din resident of Sarore Adda Bari Brahmana and recovered 5.5 grams of heroin from his pos- session. The accused was arrested and a case under NDPS Act was registered against him. In this regard, a police party intercepted Jaspreet Singh and during his search seized 8 grams of heroin from his pos- session in the Kotli Shah area in R S Pura. A case has been registered against Singh, police said. Hardcore criminal slapped with PSA STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A hardcore criminal was on Thursday arrested and slapped with the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba District, police said. Vipan Kumar Gupta alias Jony was nabbed by a special police team during a raid, a police officer said. He was involved in a number of criminal activities and drug peddling. At least eight criminal cases are registered against him at Police Station Bari Brahmana. Jony's motive was not only to create terror among the peaceful and law abiding citizens of the town but also form a gang of criminals, the officer said. To put an end to his criminal activities, District Police Samba compiled all the police records of Jony, prepared his dossier and got issued his warrant under the PSA from the Deputy Commissioner, Samba, he said. Jony was a threat to the life and liberty of the people of Samba, the officer added. The PSA is an administrative detention law that allows detention without charge or trial for up to two years in some cases. He was lodged in District Sub-Jail Hiranagar, the officer said. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Raising voice against the scarcity of water in Udhampur, former MLA and NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia warned administration for early restoration of water supply in the city. NPP lodged huge protest against PHE Deptt at Slathia Chowk on Friday. Scores of party leaders and activists including all the 16 contested candidates gathered and blocked National Highway for almost for one hour. Repeating the prime Municipal election promise, Mankotia assured the general public while addressing the media persons that NPP stuck with its election promise and will solve the water scarci- ty problem in the city soon after the formation of Panthers Municipal Council in Udhampur , he added Mankotia revealed that a Rs 28 crore 84 lakh water scheme was sanctioned during his MLA tenure which resulted in the daily supply of water to each and every household. Expressing deep anguish over the failure of local repre- sentatives, Mankotia revealed that after the 2014 Assembly polls Rs 7.5 crore remained unutlised in the above men- tioned water scheme but local representatives misused the remaining funds with local administration which resulted in water scarcity in the city today. He was informed that the Phase-1 of the project is coming up at a cost of Rs 50 cr. The Div Com also visited the recently renovated Government Joinery Mill and subsequently inspected the under-construction projects of Silk Filature and Silk factory. The order for pur- chase of machinery has also been placed and tentative schedule of commencement of production in the unit is by January 2019. A total of 30 machines have already been installed in the Silk factory costing Rs 16 cr. The Div Com was informed that the silk proj- ects would benefit cocoon growers of the state from Kathua to Rajouri belt as all the cocoon production in the state is attributed to this belt and 70 per cent of the cocoon produced in the state is purchased by buy- ers from West Bengal and Karnataka in open auc- tions. He was briefed by theconcerned functionariesthat the shed of SilkFilature costing Rs 5.60 cris ready. The order for pur-chase of machinery has alsobeen placed and tentativeschedule of commencementof production in the unit isby January 2019. A total of30 machines have alreadybeen installed in the Silkfactory costing Rs 16 cr.
