It is note- worthy here that Dr Nirmal singh quoted recently that Indian army is harassing civilians in the state. Dr Sharma strongly condemned Singh's and questioned the credibility of such statements. He said that Indian Army is one of the best defence forces of the world and has served the nation not only in situ- ations of internal or exter- nal threat but also spear- head relief and rescue operations in natural calamities. Dr Sharma said that in militancy hit State of J&K, it's only owing to defence forces that situation is held under control. He expressed dismay that instead of expressing grati- tude for the services and extreme sacrifice of forces such derogatory statements of BJP leaders expose their fake nationalist ideology and should be opposed by every section of society. Dr Sharma further added that the building issue on which this controversial statement is issued must be investigated by State Agencies and it must be ensured that no compro- mise with the security of army shall be made under any circumstances. Dr Sharma expressed sur- prise on the dead silence of Central BJP on this state- ment, that has not only tar- nished pseudo nationalist propoganda of BJP but also demoralised the morale of army. He said Central BJP shall clear it's stand on this and must take strict disciplinary action to prevent any such mislead- ing statements by BJP State leaders in coming future. UDHAMPUR: Congress workers led by Sr. Congress leader and INTUC State Secy. Sumeet Magotra held a protest against the for- mer Dy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh for giving bogus statement against the army. Protestors also burnt the effigy of former Dy CM. While addressing the protesters, Magotra said that Nirmal Singh instead of appreciating the role of army in Kashmir bent on criticising and blaming army for his per- sonal petty interest. He said Singh has lost his men- tal balance and issued such silly statements against the army which are unaccept- able. He demanded that Singh should be immediate- ly dropped from his position and an enquiry should be conducted against him. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Administration organised a series of meetings at Mangota, Danna Churrang, Rajdhani and Sorha- Behrote for redressal of public grievances and devel- opmental works in which thousands of people from a dozen Panchayats partici- pated. Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, PO ICDS Abdul Rashid, ACR A Q Mir, ACD Akhter Qazi, SDM Thanamandi Afzal Mirza, DPO Dr Abdul Khabir, ExEn PMGSY Zubair Choudhary, ExEn PWD M A Raina, ExEn PHE Nissar Khan, DSWO Naseeb Ahmed, CHO Iqbal Ahmed and senior officers from various line depart- ments attended the meet- ings. A number of public issues and demands were dis- cussed in these public meet- ings. Speakers in the meet- ings presented a charter of demands for development of respective areas and further expansion of services and amenities being provided by the government. Based on the public demands and feedback several decisions were taken for development of facilities. At Mangota, development of approach road for High School, survey of road from Old Thanamandi to Mangota, repair of Health sub-centre, installation of hand pumps, creation of 3 power distribution centres, community hall and sani- tary complex at Ziarat Baba Zakri Shah, Tractor road to Sajji Bagla, development of tourism facilities, opening of vocational centre for women and other works projected by the public were finalised. The DDC while addressed the gathering informed the State Government is com- mitted to redressal of public grievances and delivery of services at doorsteps owing to which a massive outreach programme has been con- ducted by the district administration for develop- ment planning. He assured the public that all the devel- opmental demands project- ed will be completed in stip- ulated time. Several deputa- tions also met the DDC on way. At Rajdhani, large number of people from Panchayats of Rajdhani A & B and Majhoor attended the meet- ing and presented demands related to up gradation of roads, link roads and water supply. The DDC and sec- toral officers briefed the public about timeline and roadmap for redressal of their grievances. Similar meeting was held at Sorah- behrote where a number of developmental works and public issues were discussed and decisions were taken. A large gathering at Sorah- Behrote appreciated the Government for this out- reach programme and prompt redressal of griev- ances and demands. He said that the Congress alone stands as a guarantee to the secular fabric, diversity and unity in the country and will remain committed to fight and defeat the fascist, com- munal forces posing a threat to the secular fabric of the country, which is in great danger under BJP-RSS rule. "Despite the highhanded- ness and discrimination by the ruling parties they will never succeed to stop people from raising their heads against the wrong policies of the Govt," he said and point- ed out that Jammu and Kashmir was a symbol of unity and multiplicity, but since the PDP BJP assumed power, things started wors- ening and attempts were made to pollute the secular fabric and unity in the State. "But the people of the State being wise enough realized that conspiracies were being hatched to divide people on regional lines. I am confident that people in all the three regions will continue to fight for peace, progress and development," Saroori added. STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Extending their helping hand to the most needy section of the society, J&K Yateem Foundation under Widow Welfare Programme (WWP), distributed ration and other grocery items among 82 widows prior to the holy month of Ramazan at Bhadarwah on Sunday. A Pre-Ramdhan function was organised by J&K Yateem Foundation at Bhadarwah headquarter located at Qilla Mohallah in which a large num- ber of guests, donors, volunteers and destitute participated. The proragmme was presided by the district representative of the organisation Showket Hayat Malik while Tehsildar Bhadarwah Masood Ahmed was the Chief Guest. The programme started with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by General Secretary of the organisation Irshad Ahmed Rangrez fol- lowed by speeches by the volun- teers and donors. Speakers while appreciating the concrete steps of J&K Yateem Foundation, they emphasised the need to work for the welfare of widows, orphans, patients and other destitute so that they may share the happi- ness and blessings of Holy month of Ramadhan. On this occasion, the relief in the form of ration kits contain- ing food items and other grocery items were distributed among 82 widows belonging to poor families. "We started with a humble donation of just Rs 25,000 in 2006 and today we receive 12 lacs from the donors of Bhadarwah alone, which is very encouraging. We get donations from both Muslims and Non Muslim and like-wise beneficiar- ies are also from both communi- ties," said general secretary of the organisation Irshad Ahmed Rangrez. "Under our WWP, we usual- ly transfer the money in accounts of the beneficiaries but in addition to that, today we are distributing ration and other grocery items among 82 widows especially for the holly month of Ramadan and before Eid, we will again distribute the required stuff among them," Rangrez added. Prominent among those who were present during the function include District Representative Showket Hayat Malik, Tehsil representative Javed Iqbal Qazi, deputy TR Sajad S Sarmadi, Riaz Khan, Abdul Hafeez Khateeb and Zakir Shapoo. Two boys taken into preventive custody STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Two boys have been taken into preventive custody by Rajouri Police after they were found involved in unlawful activities in the area. Order for their detention in preventive custody was issued by Executive Magistrate. Duo were found involved in drugs peddling and have been taken in preventive custody and lodged in District Central Jail. According to a report, 14 years Makhna Devi daughter of Luder Mani resident of village Pathi in Udhampur found hanging with hook of the ceiling. On see- ing her hanging, her family members shifted her to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared her brought dead. Police handed over her body to family after conducting the autopsy and registered a case for investigation. Girl injured in mishap STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A 16 years old girl identified as Rimpy Devi, daughter of Teju Ram, resident of Katal Batal, Nagrota was seriously injured when a rashly driven Innova Car hit her on Sidhra By-pass road on Sunday. The girl was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu in unconscious condition. According to doctors, her condition was serious and she is under treat- ment in ICU. The Sidhra Police rushed to the spot and seized the Innova car bearing registration No JK02AU-5010 while its driver managed to flee. The car was coming from Narwal side and was heading towards Nagrota. Police have registered a case vide FIR 112/18 and launched manhunt to arrest the driver. 82 widows belonging to poorfamilies.

"We started with a humbledonation of just Rs 25,000 in2006 and today we receive 12lacs from the donors ofBhadarwah alone, which is veryencouraging. We get donationsfrom both Muslims and NonMuslim and like-wise beneficiar-ies are also from both communi-ties," said general secretary ofthe organisation Irshad AhmedRangrez.

"Under our WWP, we usual-ly transfer the money inaccounts of the beneficiaries butin addition to that, today we aredistributing ration and othergrocery items among 82 widowsespecially for the holly month ofRamadan and before Eid, wewill again distribute therequired stuff among them,"Rangrez added.

RAJOURI: Two boys have been taken into preventive custody

by Rajouri Police after they were found involved in unlawful

activities in the area. Order for their detention in preventive

custody was issued by Executive Magistrate.

They include Mohd Amir son of Mohd Sharif resident of

Ward No 02 Rajouri and Garish Sharma son of Kundan Lal

resident of Ward No 06 Rajouri. Duo were found involved in

drugs peddling and have been taken in preventive custody and

lodged in District Central Jail.

lage Pathi in Udhampur. According to a report, 14 years

Makhna Devi daughter of Luder Mani resident of village Pathi

in Udhampur found hanging with hook of the ceiling. On see-

ing her hanging, her family members shifted her to District

Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police handed over her body to family after conducting the

autopsy and registered a case for investigation.

last three days. Uncle of missing boy lodged a report with

Police Station Rehmble after the youth didn't turned back to

JAMMU: A 16 years old girl identified as Rimpy Devi,

daughter of Teju Ram, resident of Katal Batal, Nagrota was

seriously injured when a rashly driven Innova Car hit her on

Sidhra By-pass road on Sunday.

The girl was immediately shifted to Government Medical

College Hospital Jammu in unconscious condition. According

to doctors, her condition was serious and she is under treat-

ment in ICU.

The Sidhra Police rushed to the spot and seized the Innova

car bearing registration No JK02AU-5010 while its driver

managed to flee. The car was coming from Narwal side and

was heading towards Nagrota. Police have registered a case

vide FIR 112/18 and launched manhunt to arrest the driver.
