Inspiring by Our ambition“The city is a common home - in which all the elements that compose it are organically linked; as the workshop is an organic element of the city, so it is the cathedral, school, hospital. All part of this common home. Thus, there is a uniquepastry, auniqueyeast, auniqueresponsibility that is connected to the common duties. “

Starting from the schools we would like to implement projects that go beyond the walls of the buildings andreachthemostmarginalizedandneedy families of community. We would like to ensure that eachindividualcanfindreferencepoints in institutions and people that allows them to have a decent lifeanddignified work ina betterenvironment. We want to empower each community to their own development and well-being: this is our ambitious long-term aim.

Background

School as reference point

Haiti is a country that is considered by all standards at sub par in comparison to other countries, due to the number of people living in poverty without clean water, lack of education, lack of medical care and limited access to the basic needs which are not met.

The foundation’s focus on education grew with the start of the street schools which started with its efforts to provide aneducationtostreetkids. Thesechildren were found roaming the streets without food, proper nutrition and more often than not, without parents.

Local communities will be completely involved not only in the improvement of the buildings but also in the management through special committees

•Providingasteadyjobto113people •Involving800familiesofthe3communities,especiallythepoorestones not able to keep the children in the study

We want that building schools can be real reference point of the entire community.

3.COM Project -The role of communities

and ABF

The model of foundation St. Luc provides for each community a local committee that gathers and represents the needs of the community, and that is responsible for the projects.

A central committee monitor the activity of local committees and direct them maintaining a constant dialogue and feedback.

St Luc provides a project manager for ABF with the task to monitor the progress of the construction project and the results of the projects of education and

cultural development; with updates, reports and continuous feedbacks, working with committees
