A special welcome to our many new families who are joining the Prestons family. I am sure that you will find our school to be a great place of learning and fun where all children can come to school and feel safe, happy and ready to get on with the job of learning and exploring new things. Term 3 is looking to be an exciting term of learning and fun. Our students will be busy learning and engaging in many fun activities. We have several exciting incursions planned for our students, including the Ned Show next Friday, the Science Show and a Road Safety workshop for all students. We also have swim scheme this term. What a great opportunity for students to learn to swim through the fantastic program offered by the Department of Education. We will also be celebrating Education Week and Book Week this term. Our teachers are busy planning some fantastic events to welcome our families into school. Our ever popular Book Character parade is sure to be a great success. We are looking forward to welcoming our new Director, Educational Leadership for the Glenfield Principals Network will be joining us on this day and has promised to dress up and join our celebrations. I also have some exciting news about our new buildings. The Project Reference Group met today to finalise the plans for our facility upgrade. We are now ready to submit the plans for tender and are hoping to be ready to start work onsite by December this year with the aim to have all work completed by the end of 2019. There will be a display with the finalised plans for parents and carers to view on the day of our Book Character parade, come along and check it out. We love sharing our celebrations of learning with families each week at assembly. Assembly is a great time for our children to learn about respectful listening and audience behavior. I thank our parents for supporting us in this by also modelling respectful behavior while our students showcase their achievements. Have a great week. School Swimming Scheme Students in Years 2 to 6 are invited to participate in the School Swimming Scheme. This will be held at the Whitlam Leisure Centre and will run each day between 3 -7 September.

This scheme focuses on students who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and are unable to swim 25m confidently. The cost for this extra-curricular activity is $51 and spaces are strictly limited to 60 participants. Students need to return their payment and signed permission slip to the office by Wednesday 22nd August.

Kinder to Year 2 change of clothes To assist in the event of toileting accidents and spills, it would be appreciated if parents sent a change of clothing, including socks and underwear, in their child’s bag.
