With 300 events, including live performances by the award-winning Patti LaBelle, comedian Paula Poundstone, two holiday family performances of A Very Electric Christmas, country greats Phil Vassar and Kellie Pickler, and Motown legend Smokey Robinson, there was rarely a moment of quiet at The Paramount! The Paramount Theater hosted a record-breaking 117,623 patrons which included another record-breaking Arts Education season with 18,515 students and teachers for 23 live performances on stage. In addition, the Mary Reese Community Access Fund, established to provide free tickets to members of our community who otherwise would not have access to the arts at The Paramount, served more than 1,230 individuals from 34 non-profit partners. This year alone, The Paramount hosted more than 40 free events which were free and open to the community. Proudly entering the seventh year with a self-sustaining business model, with 61% of the revenue generated by events and the remaining 39% from our generous donors, The Paramount’s success has been built on years of dedicated work and financial stability at the hands of our community and supporters. As the 2017 recipient of the Outstanding Historic Theatre Award by the League of Historic American Theatres, The Paramount took this honor to heart and again curated a season of diverse programming filled with community impact and partnership. As the proud recipient of this prestigious award, the year was dedicated in part to the many who made this recognition possible. From the breadth of events to the richness of outreach programs and partnerships with diverse community groups and non-profits, the support and patronage of the community allows The Paramount to accomplish the mission and community goals. The task is not simple, but we are committed to securing the future of The Paramount for our community. 117,623 Patrons through the doors 7,663 Volunteer Hours 153 Active Volunteers A Very Electric Christmas Largest Total Patrons in the Public Season with Two Performances 2,299 Specialty Drinks served 18,500+ Followers on Social Media 18,515 Students and Teachers took Part in the Arts Education Season 1,230 Community Access Tickets Distributed 2017-2018 BY THE NUMBERS 61% of generated revenue comes from event ticket sales 39% of generated revenue comes from Philanthropic Support Photography by: Rob Garland MARQUEE CIRCLE Virginia Commission for the Arts Anonymous MARQUEE PRODUCERS CLUB SPONSOR Apex Clean Energy PRODUCERS CLUB SPONSORS Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Central Virginia Stony Point Design Build Ting Fiber Internet PREMIERE CIRCLE Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brooksˆ Mr. and Mrs. † Kenneth Brown The Farkas Family Foundation Mr. and Mrs. J. 2017-2018 YEAR IN REVIEW The Paramount’s most recently completed fiscal year had the most successes on record since the Theater reopened as a non-profit in 2004.
