2015 Cookie Program 3
Life Skills AreBaked Into EveryGirl Scout Cookie. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is a hallmark of the Girl Scout LeadershipExperience and an eagerly awaited event by millions of Girl Scout cookie loversand Girl Scout supporters. It is also important to Girl Scout troops and to GirlScout councils. For troops, the sale provides funds to support troop activitiessuch as field trips, camping, and service projects. For councils, the sale subsidizesall activities; including providing funds to operate and maintain Girl Scout camps,
organize and support Girl Scout troops, provide council-wide programs suchas science, outdoor skills, community service opportunities, and other events, and provide financial assistance so all girls have access to the opportunities GirlScouting has to offer.
Today, more than two-thirds of women business owners and CEOs, and UnitedStates senators and congresswomen, were Girl Scouts. Many of these women areproud to say they learned their early business leadership skills through selling GirlScout Cookies!
Each sale helps girls develop five lifelong skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. It's the nation's largest girl-led business and generates immeasurable benefits for the girls, their councils andtheir communities.

Where does the $3.50
for each box go?
Where does the money go when people buy Girl Scout Cookies?
With every purchase approximately 72 percent of the proceeds stay in the
Spirit of Nebraska Council to provide a portion of the resources needed tosupport Girl Scouting each year including the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
*2013/2014 Girl and Volunteer Services Examples:
• Funds to support more than 2,800 girls in the Outreach Program• Funds to underwrite participation in council-sponsored programs, trips
and events for more than 17,000 girls and their families.
Does any of the money from cookie sales go to Girl Scouts of the
USA (the national Girl Scout organization)?Girl Scout councils do not provide any portion of their cookie revenue toGirl Scouts of the USA, and no other revenue from cookie sales goes toGirl Scouts of the USA.
Does any part of the cookie revenue go to support organizationsother than Girl Scouts?
None of the money earned from any Girl Scout council-sponsored CookieProgram is given to any other group. This does not preclude girls from spendingtheir money locally on program related activities, such as paying their own wayto a community event or museum or funding other programmatic outings.Girls may also choose to use money earned through product activities topurchase materials for a Take-Action project to benefit the community.
