2012 Reynosa, Mexico Mission Trip June 20-24, 2012
The Belle Chasse Rotary Club was a significant contributor to a Reynosa, Mexico Mission Trip that took place in and around the area during June 20–24, 2012. The local group of 15 men, women and children provided
medical, dental and construction services. The construction team was able to prepare and lay concrete for two facilities that will be located adjacent to
churches in the area, while the medical and dental team visited three separate sites to provide much needed healthcare.
On August 10, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse participated in a Relay For Life event. Relay For Life are life-changing cancer events that help communities across the globe fight back against cancer. Relay events are organized overnight community fundraising walks, because cancer never sleeps. Teams camped out at Belle Chasse High School and members of each team took turns walking or running around the track. There were plenty of food, games and activities to provide entertainment and build camaraderie.

School Supplies Program
On August 14, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse partnered with the Methodist Border Friendship Commission in collecting donations for much needed school supplies for children in Reynosa, Mexico. In all, the club donated over 50 backpacks filled with school supplies.

2012 Orange Festival Golf Tournament
On October 26, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse hosted their annual Golf Tournament at Barriere Golf Club. This year’s tournament was a huge success with over 45 teams in participation. Our donation to the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival was $10,437.00.

YMCA Rock-N-Bowl
On November 1, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse participated in the Belle Chasse YMCA’s Rock-n-Bowl Tournament. 125 members of the community bowled and had fun, all to raise money for the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign. Thanks to all who participated and those who supported the bowlers, $7000.00 was raised that evening, enough to send 49 children to Y camp for this summer.
On November 4, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse volunteered in Isaac Aid 2012. The concert to benefit Southeast Louisiana and Second Harvest Food Bank was held at Boomtown Casino.

Westbank Boys/Girls Club Wish List
On November 19, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse made wishes come true for the Westbank Boys/Girls Club. We donated all the items that the children listed on their Wish List, from education and art resources to sports, recreation and games.
On November 22, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse participated in the YMCA’s Home for the Holidays program, which delivers meals to elderly and home bound people on Thanksgiving Day. Over 1,200 meals were cooked, packed and delivered by volunteers. Our club donated the desserts for all the Westbank meals and we also provided drivers on Thanksgiving morning.

BC Rotary Dictionary ProgramDecember 5, 2012
Nelson Chaisson and Rudy Smith delivered dictionaries to Belle Chasse Academy third grade students on December 5, 2012 as part of Dictionary Service Project. Dictionaries are scheduled to be delivered to 3 other schools in Plaquemines Parish by Belle Chasse Rotary Club.

Citrus Grove Gleaning for Second Harvest
On December 15, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse joined many volunteers to assist Second Harvest Food Bank in their annual Citrus Grove Gleaning project. Hosted by Denise Buford, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse. Mrs. Buford donates 100% of her grove to charity every year.
Adopt (2) Families For ChristmasDecember 20, 2012
On December 20, 2012, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse celebrated our annual Adopt a Family Christmas Party. The event is hosted at the home of Danica Ansardi, Past President 2000/2001. This year we partnered with South Plaquemines Rotary Club and was able to adopt (3) families. It is out hope that we overwhelm the families with gifts for a Christmas that they will never forget.
