Day 1 Australia - Cancun, MexicoToday depart from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, *Adelaide or *Perth for Cancun, Mexico. Fly with either American Airlines, Delta Airways, United Airlines or Air Canada to name a few (subject to availability). Upon arrival into Cancun a transfer will be arranged to the hotel. Please note: If departing from Perth your flight will depart the night before.Beachscape Kin Ha Villas & Suites, CancunMeals included: In-Flight

Day 2 Cancun - Chichen Itza (approx. 200km day)Today meet your tour leader and depart to Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Mayan people of the Terminal Classic period. The famous Mayan pyramids of Chichen Itza are over 1500 years old. The name Chichen Itza is a Mayan word: CHI (mouth) CHEN (well) and ITZA (of the Itzaes). Some say this is because people were often thrown into the nearby cenote as sacrifices, and those who survived were believed to be seers. Chichen-Itza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the ‘New 7 World Wonders’, a unique place to be discovered! Enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure.Hotel Villas Arqueologicas, Chichen ItzaMeals included: Breakfast

Day 3 Chichen Itza Archelogical Site Tour – Izamal - MeridaAfter breakfast, visit the archaeological site of Chichen Itza with a local guide (entrance included) – the best restored of Yucatan’s Mayan sites. Explore the magnificent ruins set in a dense jungle, including the Pyramid of Kukulcan – its height and striking geometric design dominating the whole site, the Great Ball Court – the largest and most impressive in Mesoamerica, the Sacred Cenote – a natural well used for human sacrifice, and many other beautiful temples. In the afternoon, drive to Merida the ancient Mayan city, via Izamal. In ancient times, Izamal was a centre for worship of the supreme Mayan god, Itzamna, and the sun god, Kinich-Kakmo. A dozen temple pyramids were devoted to these gods. Perhaps these bold expressions of religion are why

the Spanish colonists chose Izamal as the site for an enormous Franciscan monastery – the Convento de San Antonio de Padua - which today stands at the heart of the town. See the impressive monastery, the Mayan ruins, and the streets of this quiet, colonial gem, nicknamed “La Ciudad Amarilla” (the yellow city) for the traditional yellow that most buildings are painted in. Arrive in Merida, the social and economic centre, as well as the capital, of the state of Yucatan. The city’s main boulevard, Paseo Montejo, is home to impressive European-style mansions with pastel shades and elaborate trim, and are reminiscent of lavishly iced wedding cakes. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.Hotel Del Gobernador, MeridaMeals included: Breakfast

Day 4 Merida – Uxmal Archeological Site - Hacienda ‘Sotuta de Peon’ Visit (approx. 170km Day)Today visit the archaeological site of Uxmal with a local guide (entrance included), a World Heritage Site. Its architecture is characterised by low horizontal palaces set around courtyards, decorated with a profusion of symbolic motifs and sculptures depicting the long-nosed rain god Chaac. Explore the magnificent buildings, including the House of the Magician – which dominates the site, the Nunnery, and the House of Turtles. In the afternoon, take in a bit of 1800s history with a drive to Yucatan’s only working henequen (sisal) hacienda (farm) ‘Sotuta de Peon’. During the tour of the hacienda, you will learn about the origins of henequen and details of Yucatan’s enormous henequen boom. You will see the whole transformation process of the henequen (sisal rope), from plant to fibre and from fibre to finished product, all done on centuries old machinery. Then get onto wooden carts pulled by mules, originally used by henequen workers, and take a ride into the henequen fields . At the end of the tour you can go for a refreshing swim in a cenote (water hole).Hotel Del Gobernador, MeridaMeals included: Breakfast

Day 5 Merida - Valladolid – Coba Archeological Site - Riviera Maya (approx. 285km day)After breakfast continue your journey to Riviera Maya via the magical town of Valladolid. Valladolid is the third largest city in Yucatan. Valladolid was built over the ancient Maya ceremonial centre of Zaci. The city centre on the Park Francisco Canton Road, is where you will find the Church of San Gervasio. There are seven colonial churches and the city is nicknamed the “Sultan of the East” because of its colonial splendour. Keep driving to the archaeological site of Coba, built around a group of lakes, Coba is one of the largest Mayan cities, believed to have been inhabited by up to 40 thousand people. Explore with a local guide the mostly unrestored temples set deep in tropical jungle, and climb the Great Pyramid of Nohoch Mul, the tallest Mayan structure on the Yucatan Peninsula. Afterwards arrive at your all-inclusive resort for the next three nights!Grand Oasis Tulum Resort, AkumalMeals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

Day 6 Riviera Maya Free DayFrom Cancun in the north to the archaeological site of Tulum in the south, stretches a magnificent coastline, peppered with tropical parks, snorkelling and diving havens, small rustic hotels and luxurious resorts on the Riviera Maya. Akumal, which means “land of the turtles” in the Mayan language owes its enchantment to the fresh waters of its caves and subterranean rivers. More than 200 entrances to subterranean caves, with depths of up to 150 meters, make it a gathering place for divers from around the world. Today take the opportunity to travel to Tulum (not included), the only walled city the Mayan’s built and the only one by the edge of the Caribbean when the Spanish first came upon the site in 1518. The major construction is the Castle, a handsome pyramid perched on the edge of a cliff high above the pearl-white beaches below. From here one can see most of the ancient city, as well as a magnificent view of the coastline.Grand Oasis Tulum Resort, AkumalMeals included: Breakfast;Lunch;DinnerDay 7 Riviera Maya Free DayToday spend a day at leisure in Riviera Maya, enjoy the Caribbean

beaches, white sands, a coral reef and warm waters rich in marine life, including turtles. To the north, Half Moon Bay has a curved beach, while Yal-ku Lagoon teems with colourful tropical fish, stingrays and barracudas.Grand Oasis Tulum Resort, AkumalMeals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner

Day 11 San Juan, Puerto Rico - 12:00pm to 9:00pmSan Juan is one of the world’s top cruise ship destinations. As recently as the 1970s, Old San Juan (Viejo San Juan) was a reminder of better times, a run-down collection of Spanish colonial relics. Now, however, after extensive and careful restoration, this seven-block-square area is considered one of the best-kept troves of Spanish colonial architecture and has become a World Heritage Site.MSC Cruises - ‘MSC Seaside’ shipMeals included: Breakfast;Lunch;Dinner
